The flow and filtering water, and it’s related processes through the wetlands is the main concept driving the site layout and the form of the main meditation gallery.

The architectural qualities, the tectonics, and materiality all play off the metaphor of filtration, specifically the filtration of thoughts and the representation of passing time. The simple yet intricate construction of the gallery pieces are meant

to create a unique experience with the site and the architecture. The phenomenological aspects of the space encourage contemplation, mediation, and selfreflection.

reinforce wayfinding

The 10 weeks collaboration between Oregon College of Arts and Crafts, the University of Oregon School of Architecture in Portland, and AndersonAnderson Architecture began as a design-built workshop seeking to find answers to: What is craft in architecture in an age of

modular contemporary design? The result is a student pavilion that also acts as a way-finding feature as well as a sculpture creating new identity on campus.

As a member of the roof and enclosures design team, I created multiple digital and physical models of assembly strategies and construction documents.

Full scale mock-ups made the design and construction experience completely hands-on at the very beginning of the process.

Portland’s Stumptown nickname is also an accurate description of the much shorter buildings. The mixed-use nature of the program is divided vertically and city’s skyline. The tiered and battered look of the “cloudscraper” aims to aesthetically fit into Portland’s Lawrence Halprin’s sequence of fountains, and

celebrates the region’s wet climate as it interacts with water. This concept of erosion by water is also reinforced in the design of the curtain wall system.

The “Do It Yourself “Creative Center is a low budget transit oriented development (TOD), a manufacturing and research campus for prototyping and showcasing products in SE Portland.

The concept of the project is informed by the sequential process of bringing products to market. “Form follows process” as the campus incorporates the connection of distinguished neighborhoods and light rail transit.

neighborhood development standards and Mr. Cloutier’s unique programmatic desires. The house’s main feature is an outdoor courtyard achieved by the “C” shaped plan that creates transparent yet intimate indoor-outdoor spaces.
