FLUID Building: MNC Office Location: Hyderabad, India Category: Business, Office Type: Studio Project Design Team: Solo Skills: Research, analysis, model making Softwares: dwg, 3dm, psd, ai
Fluid is an oďŹƒce building designed according to the needs of modern day employees. They spend about 8-10 hours of their day working at the same place hence require breathing spaces that help them relax and ease up. Such spaces can be created with the help of informality in design.

The aim of the design is to induce the informal character in the office building and also to maintain the formal vibe.
Form helps in attracting the summer winds to the core of the building and in winters it diuses the winds alongside
Landscaping highlights the structure and caters to the dead spaces that arise near the periphery which act as spill out areas for the employees.

MOTION Building: Ambala Cantt. Railway Station Location: Punjab, India Category: Public Structure Type: Consultancy Project Design Team: 6 Skills: Research, working drawings Softwares : dwg, psd
12
Motion is a government project given to Chandigarh College of Architecture for the refurbishment of Ambala Cantt. Railway Station in order to make its functioning more eďŹƒcient.
Ambala Cantonment Railway Station is a junction station located at Haryana, India. It is one of the busiest railway station in terms of frequency of trains. Around 300 trains start, end, or pass through the station daily.

13
PROBLEMS The station had some major issues related to the circulation, breathing spaces, landscaping, parking, etc.
No spill out or breathable spaces inside the station area.
There is no defined division between pedestrian and vehicular flow, leading to conflicts and congestion on the road.
With time the building has lost its visual identity making the front elevation to look bare.
Ill maintained landscaping, inadequate facilities for public conveniences, insufficient parking inside the station premises, are some of the problems.
14
The design proposal focused on these issues majorly. Programme introduced a systematic circulation pattern which provides clear segregation between pedestrian and vehicular circulation and introduced lane system that bifurcates the traďŹƒc at the entry only.
Facade redesigned to give a new and recognisable character
Achade to provide a barrier free pedestrian ow
Clear and deďŹ ned pedestrian and vehicular motion
With the revised site plan adequate parking spaces were also designed, positions of engines were changed in order to create a symmetrical front elevation. Along with these, new designs for public seatings, water booths, toilets, etc were also modelled.

Liminal Utopian Question everything
ELEMENTARY Location: Streets Category: Competition Type: Conceptual Project Design Team: 8 Skills: Research, analysis, pilot survey Softwares: dwg, 3dm, psd, ai
The theme of the competition talks about “ invocation of new, innovative, experimental, radical or unorthodox ideas that push boundaries beyond what is expected in all aspects, ultimately redefining us and creating a new identity for the future.” The brief intends to explore, identify and re-interpret liminal spaces with the vision to inform a society.
25
Liminality - literally the ‘threshold’ - is deconstructive. One thing needs to be destroyed for another to take its place; in a mental liminal space, we pave ways for a new way of thinking by destroying the old. We must unlearn to look at things the way we always have, to learn to look at them in another way

Elementary is one step towards a society that values thinking above learning. It is human tendency to conform to pre-existing notions without trying to justify these for ourselves. With the vision to make every passer-by intimately aware of their backdrop as they pass through it, elementary potentially raises questions and urges the users to provide the answers to these themselves. A culture of inspiration, but not imitation.
u r b a n Our sites are deďŹ ned by certain patterns that occur in them -pedestrian movement of the crowd, spaces deďŹ ned by activities of a learning/teaching nature, which means spaces where people are free to do as they please. In simpler terms, we could call them pedestrian streets. These are universal as such areas exist in big cities, smaller towns and rural areas as well.
r u r a l
27
Using a physical liminal space to generate a mental liminal phase -which in turn will pave way for change. Without changing any of the elements in a street, we embrace the chaotic character of the public realm and only break them down into simpler parts which can be used as per the needs and whims of the user.
For example, the berm becomes a cycle stand or a seating space, or it combines with multiple other elements to form something completely new. All these permutations are then added to a public archive, which serves as future food for thought. This proposal is a prototype which can be adapted to the speciďŹ c elements and context of a street, rendering it applicable in diverse scenarios.
