Fall 2016 Dear Travelers and Friends, Our signature cruise programs receive accolades for their fascinating itineraries, small groups, deluxe ships, and expert lecturers. In 2017 we are delighted to present several exciting new cruises and a departure on the new AmaKristina in her inaugural year. One of the pioneers in offering legal travel to Cuba, Academic Arrangements Abroad has been leading trips to this once inaccessible island nation since 1999. First, embark in Curaçao on a new cruise that explores unspoiled islands, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and national parks teeming with biodiversity, en route to Panama. The second sailing begins in Panama with a transit of the Panama Canal, includes a stop in Nicaragua, and concludes in Costa Rica. Travel to Art Basel in style this June aboard AmaKristina, launching in 2017; or in October, experience the Bordeaux wine harvest with visits and tastings at celebrated châteaux. • Cuba by Sea Aboard Variety Voyager, February 11-18; February 18-25, 2017 Cruise Cuba’s less-developed southern shore, strolling the streets of well-preserved colonial towns and meeting local artists and musicians on a trip from French-influenced Cienfuegos to historical Santiago. • With the Trade Winds: Curacao to Colón Aboard Sea Cloud II, February 13-21, 2017 Highlights of this new winter sojourn aboard the magnificent sailing yacht Sea Cloud II include an overnight in romantic Cartagena and a special viewing of the Panama Canal expansion. • Sailing the Panama Canal: Colón to Puntarenas Aboard Sea Cloud II, February 20-March 3, 2017 On this popular program now featuring the port of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, pass through the Panama Canal during daylight hours and spot exotic wildlife on a stroll through a private cloud forest in Costa Rica. • The Majestic Rhine: Amsterdam to Basel Aboard AmaKristina featuring Art Basel, June 9-17, 2017 On the luxurious new AmaKristina, cruise the Rhine to tour storied castles and attend Art Basel, featuring the finest modern and contemporary works. • The Great Châteaux of Bordeaux Aboard AmaDolce, October 18-26, 2017 Discover the celebrated wine region of Bordeaux during the autumn vendange, visiting renowned châteaux, sampling Sauternes and other varietals, and exploring charming cobblestone-paved villages. An exceptional selection of additional trips include viewing the phenomenon of the aurora borealis on Northern Lights of Iceland, with departures in February, March, September, and October; exploring Roman ruins and kasbahs on March’s Morocco: The Land of Mists & Mysteries; and in October, circumnavigating Italy’s largest island on Sicily by Sail Aboard Sea Cloud II. We look forward to welcoming you on one of these extraordinary journeys.
