We invite you to join Lincoln Center this October to meet the visionary Thomas Heatherwick during a long weekend in London.

Heatherwick Studio is a key member of the team working to reimagine David Geffen Hall and renovate it to become a future-focused concert venue for the 21st century on the iconic Lincoln Center campus. You will participate in a rare private tour of Heatherwick Studio, the workshop that produced such groundbreaking projects as the 2012 Olympic Cauldron and London’s Rolling Bridge, and is designing the new Google Mountain View Campus in California and Pier 55 park in New York City. This unique voyage will also include exclusive, behind-the-scenes experiences at London’s greatest venues for the performing and visual arts, old and new. Take in performances ranging from traditional Bach, to a modern theater classic featuring a live orchestra, to a play bursting with music from South Africa. And engage in dynamic conversation with art and architecture experts. The trip offers fabulous cultural experiences and an unmatched opportunity for insight into this exciting phase of Lincoln Center’s innovative project to contribute to the future of music.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21 LONDON Arrive in London late this morning and check in to The Stafford London. Gather this afternoon for a welcome reception at the hotel followed by an early welcome dinner with special guests Steve Tompkins, lead architect for the NTFuture project and refurbishment of the Young Vic, and David Lan, the Young Vic’s Artistic Director. Afterwards at the Barbican, hear the BBC Singers, St. James’s Baroque and distinguished soloists perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B Minor, one of classical music’s supreme achievements. RD

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22 LONDON Begin the day with a private behind-the-scenes tour of London’s beloved Royal Albert Hall. Gain access to areas of this Grade I listed building that are normally closed to the public, including under the stage, into the dressing room area, and underground to the loading bay. Conclude the tour with a champagne afternoon tea. This evening, see the Young Vic’s production of A Man of Good Hope, the play adaptation of Jonny Steinberg’s book. In collaboration with the Royal Opera House, its UK premiere is staged at the Young Vic by the critically-acclaimed South African Isango Ensemble. BT

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23 LONDON This morning, join a private architectural tour of the Southbank Centre, Europe’s largest arts complex, and explore its innovative concrete designs, exemplary of the modernist and brutalist movements. After lunch at leisure, enjoy a private tour of the Tate Modern’s newly opened Switch House addition. A special hosted dinner is planned this evening. BD

MONDAY, OCTOBER 24 LONDON This afternoon, Thomas Heatherwick, one of the architects working on the renovation of David Geffen Hall, has arranged an exclusive tour of Heatherwick Studio. Following this evening’s farewell dinner, see a new production of Peter Shaffer’s iconic play Amadeus at the National Theatre, featuring live orchestral accompaniment by Southbank Sinfonia. ABOUT

Heatherwick Studio Established by Thomas Heatherwick in 1994, Heatherwick Studio is recognized for its work in architecture, urban infrastructure, sculpture, design, and strategic thinking. Today a team of 180, including architects, designers, and makers work from a combined studio and workshop in Kings Cross, London. At the heart of the studio’s work is a profound commitment to finding innovative design solutions, with a dedication to artistic thinking and the latent potential of materials and craftsmanship. This is achieved through a working methodology of collaborative rational inquiry, undertaken in a spirit of curiosity and experimentation. In the twenty years of its existence, Heatherwick Studio has worked in many countries, with a wide range of commissioners and in a variety of regulatory environments. Through this experience, the studio has acquired a high level of expertise in the design and realization of unusual projects, with a particular focus on the large scale. The studio’s work includes a number of nationally significant projects for the UK, including the awardwinning UK Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, the Olympic Cauldron for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and the New Bus for London. More recent projects include a major university building in Singapore, the Garden Bridge in London, a new campus for Google in Silicon Valley with BIG, and a museum in Cape Town, South Africa that makes use of a disused grain silo.

AIRFARE The tour operator, Academic Arrangements Abroad (AAA) will be pleased to assist with air travel arrangements for this program, including specially negotiated group airfare when available, suggested flights, or individual requests for a processing fee of $40 per person. Complete details will be provided in your confirmation mailing. PAYMENT SCHEDULE $5,995 per person, payable by check, credit card or wire transfer to Academic Arrangements Abroad. Single travelers must pay a supplemental fee of $895. HEALTH All participants must be in good health. This program involves extensive walking over uneven surfaces and climbing stairs at monuments and other locations not handicapped accessible. Any condition that may require assistance or special medical attention must be reported at the time of your reservation. INSURANCE TRIP CANCELLATION/EMERGENCY MEDICAL EVACUATION / BAGGAGE / ACCIDENT AND SICKNESS INSURANCE PROTECTION IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. CANCELLATION PENAL TIES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED. AAA will send an insurance application upon receipt of reservation and deposit, although you may select any insurer of your choice. CHANGES IN ITINERARY & COSTS The itinerary and faculty leadership are subject to change t the discretion of AAA and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. (LC). All prices quoted are based on prevailing fuel prices, airfares and currency exchange rates in effect at time of brochure printing and are subject to change without notice. Individual deviations from the scheduled itinerary are not permitted. RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE The participation of LC is limited to educational sponsorship of the program (The Program) described on the website and in the trip brochure. AAA acts only as an agent for the participant with respect to transportation, accommodations and all other services, relating to The Program. AAA, LC and/or their agents assume no responsibility or liability for any act, error or omission, or for any injury, loss, accident, delay or irregularity including, but not limited to those that may be occasioned by reason of any defect in any aircraft, ship, train, bus

or other carrier, or through neglect or default of any subcontractor or other third party, which may be used wholly or in part in the performance of their duty to the participants of The Program. Nor will AAA or LC and/or their agents be responsible for loss, injury, damages or expenses to persons or property, due to illness, weather, strikes, local laws. hostilities, wars, terrorist acts, acts of nature or other such causes in connection with The Program or anything beyond their reasonable control. The passage ticket issued by the carrier is the sole contract between the participant and the carrier. AAA and LC are not responsible for transportation or other program delays and changes, nor additional expenses or loss of time that may be incurred. In the event it becomes necessary or advisable for the comfort or well-being of the participants, or for any reason whatsoever, to alter the itinerary at any time, without notice to the participants, such alterations will be made without penalty to AAA or LC. Additional expenses, if any, shall be borne by the participants. Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the participant at all times. AAA reserves the right to accept or decline any person as a participant at any time, or to require any participant to withdraw from The Program at their own expense when such an action is determined by AAA to be in the best interest of the participant's health and safety, or the general welfare of the other participants. CANCELLATION POLICY AAA must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of The Program, which may include but are not limited to: advance payments to land operators; communication expenses; development and the loss of time that might have permitted resale of reserved space. All cancellations must be made in writing to the offices of AAA. All refunds are limited to amounts actually received by AAA and are the sole responsibility of AAA; LC shall have no liability for refunds. At the time AAA receives written notification of cancellation, the following cancellation charges will apply: cancellations received between 90 and 61 days before departure, 50 percent of The Program cost per person; no refunds will be given for cancellations received within 60 days of departure. No refunds are given for cancellation on or after the day of departure, or for unused portions of the tour, for any reason. Air cancellation charges, if any, will be assessed in accordance with airline regulations. All group fare tickets must be issued no less than 30 days prior to departure. NOTE: Neither AAA nor LC shall be liable for any airline cancellation penalties incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable ticket. In the case of a cancellation due to shortage of participants, AAA will attempt to notify all participants at least 45 days prior to departure. However, AAA reserves the right to cancel The Program prior to departure for any reason and, in such case, reimbursement of refundable costs of the trip by AAA shall constitute full settlement with the participant. In the unlikely event that a dispute arises between a participant and AAA, the following conditions will apply: (a) the dispute will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in New York, NY; {b) the dispute will be governed by New York Law; (c) the maximum amount of recovery to which a participant shall be entitled under any and all circumstances will be the sum of all monies actually received from the participant by AAA. The participant agrees that this is a fair and reasonable limitation on the damages, of any sort whatsoever, that a participant may suffer.
