LIGHTING Solution Guide

Boost Converters can be designed to drive more than 1 HP XPE/XPG LED in series, and multi-chip MCE LED with chip connected in series from a 9V battery or 6xAA size battery pack. All the converters can provide a simpler and high current output to drive high-power LEDs in voltage step-up application. Some controllers can access very low input voltage and oscillate at high frequency which reduce size of LED driver, those features fit for size limited battery powered lighting application such as in torch or headlamp. Constant current driven features is recommended for maintain constant lumen and color temp output throughout LED's life.

High voltage low power LED driver can connect to universal off-line input (85V to 265V AC input) directly. These drivers can provide up to 1A driving depends on designer application. Most for the drivers have isolated/non-isolated configuration. For indoor lighting application, some of the LED drivers controllers can be compatible with Triac dimmers and well fitted with MCE and MPL LED. With proper design, those controllers can perform very high efficiency in compact size to fit various lighting fixture form factor.

With integration of in house optical design, mould tooling, and mass production, the performance of LedLink lens is ultilised to meet rapid shift in lighting industry. Lamp manufacturers may adapt our standard products or our customised lenses to design innovative LED fixtures.

In order to facilitate the evaluation process and reduce the developing time and cost of LED street light application, LedLink has developed nine types of street light lenses which are compatible with light various LED manufacturers. These lenses are designed with different assumed conditions of the road and pole arrangements to optimise both the uniformity and the output lux value. Technical data, such as IES files, datasheets or the assumed installed conditions details is available by request.

Heat Sink 散热器 This is specially designed for IRC Anotherm heat sink. IRC Anotherm is the best commercial material known to Arrow, to pass through heat from LED to ambient temperature. Since these heat sink are mostly customized, each request will be taken as a special handling deal. Its best thermal conductivity comes from the fact that LED (XPE thermal resistance, junction to solder point, typical 9°C/W) sit on top of IRC Anotherm circuitry (K=27w/m-‘K) which passes the LED heat directly onto the Aluminum (K=201w/m-‘K) immediately below it. There is no need of any heat gel which K value is lower than the Anotherm, in between the MCPCB/Anotherm and the heat sink below (aluminium with fin).

In China, the street lamp should be designed base on the national standard CJJ45-2006, which is a Chinese standard of lighting design in urban road. It governs the Luminance, Illuminance, Uniformity, threshold increment as well as surround ratio on various kind of road lane. Meanwhile, this standard also govern the street lamp luminaires efficiency, lumen maintenance as well as life time in real application.

Surround Ratio (SR): Average illuminance of strips just outside the edges of the carriageway in proportion to the average illuminance on strips just inside the edges.

The HVLED805 is a HV primary switcher intended for operating from the AC mains with minimum parts to provide an efficient, compact and cost effective solution for LED driving. It combines a high-performance low-voltage PWM controller chip and an 800V, avalanche-rugged power MOSFET in the same package.

HVLED805 controller IC specifically designed for ZVS (zero voltage switching) fly-back LED drivers, with constant output current (CC) regulation using primary sensing feedback. This application note present Richtek solutions for MR16 based on different LED connection and output power. For Vout<10.5V, RT8470 buck is recommended. For Vout>18V, RT8450 boost is recommended. RT8450 buck-boost also work well with wide Vout range. The two stage solutions with RT8465 is a big improvement on MR16/AR111 design. The low voltage PFC simulates the performance of a real halogen bulb and let the electronic transformer(ET) works in normal mode. This reduces the inrush current on current MR16 design to improve the reliability. It also require smaller E-cap especially for high power application (Pout>7W), and make the ET compatibility become perfect.

COMPARISON ON MR16 SOLUTIONS (几种MR16方案的比较) 1. BUCK：BUCK has the lowest cost and the smallest PCB. It may also has the highest efficiency. The ET compatibility is reasonable after the improvement of new circuit design. One significant drawback is the output current may drop due to the input voltage drop. This become worse when the test condition include input 90V to a 110V ET or input 200V to a 220V ET. This will reduce the output luminance.

降压方案有最低的成本跟最小的PCB。同时也有可能是所有方案里效率 最高的。电子变压器在线路改善後也提高到了合理的程度。此方案最大 的缺点在於当输入电压过低时，输出电流会下降，特别是当测试规格包 括将110V的ET输入90V或是220VET输入200V。这会导致输出亮度下降。

2. BOOST：The cost and PCB size of BOOST will be higher than BUCK. The efficiency will also be lower than BUCK but no big difference. The LED current will be consistent even the input voltage drop. This solution also offer a better ET compatibility than buck topology.

升压方案需要比较降压稍高的成本跟较大的PCB。效率也会稍微低一点。 但是尽管在输入电压下降时，仍能维持很好的输出一致性。这方案同时 有较好的电子变压器兼容性。

3. BUCK-BOOST：BUCK-BOOST need higher cost and larger PCB. The efficiency will also be lower. Suggest not to have LED output voltage between 10.5V~18V to avoid using this topology.

升降压结构需要较高的成本及较大的PCB，效率也会比较低，建议尽量 不要选择LED输出电压落在10.5V~18V之间以避免使用到升降压结构。

4. RT8465 Two Stage Solution：This topology has very good ET compatibility and also very good reliability due to smaller inrush current. But the PCB size will be difficult to fit into a regular MR16. It is good for higher power solution that can offer more space for driver board.

RT8465的两级式结构有很好的电子变压器兼容性以及因为较低的突波电 流带来较高的可靠性，但是因为整体方案需要较大的PCB，比较适合输 出功率较高，灯体较大的案子。

客户在进行LED日光灯管组装时，灯管连接电源所用线材需注意以下事 项，将对整灯EMC测试结果有很好帮助，余量更足：

1. Wire rod length recommendation: please keep the AC input wire long enough for convenient installation, and keep the wire rod ideally less than 5cm between the LED base board and the power supply output terminal.

1. 连接线长度建议：AC输入线尽量长，连接灯板的LED+/LED–与电源输出 端的线尽量短，少于5cm为宜。

2. If the two wire cords of the input or output are separated, please twist them as hard as possible. If the two wire cords are parallel, suggest using a bonded wire.
