Hatfield Town Cricket Club
Indoor training has been going amazingly well across all age groups with more children than ever before joining the club and we need to thank all our volunteer coaches for giving up so much time over evenings and weekends to provide so many sessions.
We are now looking for more youngsters to join our Under 9's team. The team is open to boys up to Year 4 and girls up to Year 6, it's a great way for any child to get involved with the sport, learn the basics and start their journey with the club. Training is currently every Monday 6:00-7:00pm at Trinity Academy and we would welcome any child to come along and join in the fun, there's more to us than just playing cricket we make sure all our kids have a great time too! Drop us a facebook message or email us a hatfield.towncc@outlook.com or just pop along on a Monday evening.
We would like to thank Carl Morrell at CM Developments Ltd for his continued support of the Under 9's, it really is appreciated.

Friends of Quarry Park
Our 2025 programme finally got going after having to postpone our first work party from a freezing morning on 10th January to a crisp but sunny day the following week. 14 eager volunteers turned out to tackle various jobs around the park including cutting back around the perimeter fence of the car park, chopping back the brambles from the zip wire path and its neighbouring path and clearing the encroaching lupins from the top path above 'Quarry Henge'. Many thanks to Ranger Sam for bringing out the 'big gun' - a monster strimmer which made the job much quicker and easier! Six bags of litter and a broken sledge were also gathered up. After all the hard work we more than ready for coffee, tea and hot chocolate and chocolate or jam rolls by Julie - delicious and much appreciated.
It was a cold easterly wind that greeted our intrepid volunteers for the February work party but it didn’t deter them. We had an amazing 21 turn out including 3 new recruits, and our Ranger Sam. Work Coordinator Pete outlined our tasks and safety protocols and off they went. Slabs were laid underneath two more benches; work continued in the car park cutting back the bushes and brambles so people don’t scratch themselves or their cars, and another bug house was constructed. The pallets for this were generously donated by Junction 4 Pallets, and very smart it looks too! We have enough pallets to build another bug house at a later date. Other tasks included removing a burnt out scooter from the big dip, further clearing of the lupins and brambles from the top path and collecting 4 large bags of litter!
Afterwards we gathered at the picnic table for hot drinks, Valentine's cakes and caramel slices expertly baked by Debra and Julie. I think the newcomers particularly enjoyed that part of the proceedings! They seemed to enjoy the morning so hopefully we will see them again.
Huge thanks to our wonderful volunteers for great start to the New Year. Following on from the mindless destruction of our flag pole last year, shortly after we were awarded the Green Flag, our shiny new pole has now been installed and the flag is flying once again.
Work parties are usually held on the first Friday of each month, weather permitting. Tasks include litter picking, clearing paths and cutting back vegetation. Equipment is provided but please ensure you wear suitable clothing and footwear. The next events are scheduled for Friday 7th March and Friday 4th April 10am – 12 noon, meet at the picnic table. Full details will be published on our Facebook page ‘Friends of Quarry Park’ or you can email us at thequarrypark@gmail.com or call us on 07546 595144.
