SilverRock is La Quinta’s Newest Luxury Resort. It is an important addition to the area, and one that has been long-awaited. To fulfill the promise of SilverRock, a team of talented professionals have defined the vision they have for this new resort—and
“For a plan to be successful, start at the end and work your way back.” — The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen F. Covey
will build it, painstakingly, with this vision in mind. The goal is to create a place that will truly provide the environment, the amenities, and the experiences that discriminating resort owners and guests will remember long after they depart to go home. That is the ultimate vision for SilverRock.
O
S I LV E R R O C K — T H E V I S I O N . VER THE NEXT FEW YEARS, a new, vibrant, stylish resort will materialize on the desert floor, in the cool shade of the Santa Rosa
Mountains. In the very heart of the famed California Coachella Valley, and the city of La Quinta, this sheltered oasis will have its own personality, identity and name—SilverRock. The name arises from a legend that early Spanish conquistadors buried a treasure of silver in the nearby mountains and were unable to retrieve it. Soon, another treasure will be discovered. A place where owners and guests can discover that first-class service is still the hallmark of a fine resort. Where a rich variety of activities and amenities can be explored. And where, once again, people will be able to enjoy the rejuvenation that this desert paradise has offered the adventurous, the famous, and the weary since it was first discovered. SilverRock will immerse its residents and guests in recreation, relaxation, and self-reward. The first of two golf courses—this one designed by Arnold Palmer—is already in place and being enjoyed. Hotels, meeting facilities, condominiums, and shops will be built along the fairways and lakes that will naturally divide the resort into many fascinating and enjoyable pieces.
There will be several distinct and rewarding resorts within this one resort. The first of these will be Agave at SilverRock, a lush, lakefront enclave—with a charming hotel composed from a collection of casitas and villas carefully clustered around courtyards and gardens and surrounded by golf course fairways. It will be beautifully landscaped with courtyards, covered terraces, and— most importantly in the desert—a series of fountains with their soothing sounds and refreshing waters. Later, a second hotel will join it— along with a shopping village where guest artists will display their skills and guests can learn about wines, dancing, and health. A second golf course is planned, and with it will come a dramatic new golf clubhouse and teaching center. The courses are expected to become venues for the famed Bob Hope Chrysler Classic as early as 2008. There will also be family-centered areas, a theater, and a variety of sponsored activities. But, perhaps best of all, this will be a place where you can enjoy the beauty of the area as you bike, hike or simply stroll the trails that wind throughout the entire resort. When complete, this will be a vibrant and mesmerizing place. The first new resort built in the area for decades, SilverRock will stand apart from the many fine facilities already in the Coachella Valley—by design and attitude. It will be a multidimensional destination resort, complete with luxury spa, where people can discover new things, enjoy being pampered, and explore new horizons.
THE TOP SIX REASONS TO D I S C O V E R S I LV E R R O C K . 1. CENTRAL LOCATION SilverRock’s central location—just about half an hour from the Palm Springs International Airport, 125 miles from San Diego or Los Angeles, and a comfortable 4-hour drive from Phoenix makes it the ultimate “base camp.” From here, you can set off on day trips into the mountains and desert, enjoy world-class shopping, even do a little gambling. It’s all at your fingertips.
2. LIFE-AFFIRMING WATER This site’s past—and future—are inextricably tied to water. Today, like in centuries past, water can be found at almost every turn. Clear lakes, fountains and even spa treatments using water will play a pivotal role in day-today life at the resort.
3. PREMIER GOLF An Arnold Palmer course now commands attention on the site of what was once called “the last great piece of golf property in the Coachella Valley.” It’s already listed as one of the “Top 10 New Courses You Can Play” by Golf Magazine. And a second course is yet to come.
4. TRULY MOUNTAINSIDE Throughout the Coachella Valley, there are many resorts near the Santa Rosa Mountains. But only SilverRock brings you right up to the base of this incredible range. The entire resort skirts the foot of the mountains, offering a rare opportunity to enjoy the rugged beauty close up.
5. COMPLETE DESTINATION No matter what you’re looking for in the next great American destination resort, this is where you’ll discover it. When complete, the resort will be a place where you can spend an entire visit without moving your car. There will be outdoor recreation, a luxury spa, shopping, meeting places, theatres, classes, and hiking and biking trails just foot steps away.
6. SILVERROCK STYLE The Spanish-style architecture will be classic, the services impeccable, and the organization of the resort inviting. Every detail at SilverRock will blur the lines between the indoors and outdoors. To the eye and the senses, this will be a place to remember.
W
HILE SILVERROCK ITSELF will be a remarkable destination, one of its key advantages is the access it provides to the entire Valley. The location, in La Quinta, means that it is convenient to many of the area’s finest residential, shopping, and recreational facilities. It is just a few blocks away from PGA-West, home to some of golf’s most memorable matches. It is also just a few miles from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, where each year top players gather to play in the Pacific Life Open. Less than
You’re In The Perfect Place To Enjoy The Entire Area. two miles away, you’ll find Old Town, with its host of shops and restaurants—including the Hog’s Breath Inn, made famous by Clint Eastwood. Arnold Palmer’s restaurant is also nearby. On one day you can be shopping in the famed shops of El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert, the next be learning about life in the desert at The Living Desert wildlife and botanical park, and the next, watching a polo match. The choice will be yours, and you’ll be in the perfect place to enjoy whatever you choose.
Mountains so close, even the biggest problems seem small.
FROM A DISTANCE the rocks and crevices of the Santa Rosa Mountains blend together to form a silhouette in the sky. At SilverRock, however, you’ll get quite a different perspective—because the mountains here loom right above you, towering testimonies to the grandeur of nature. Giant rocks shelter colorful little wildflowers. Sheer walls seem to dwarf everything around them—including dayto-day problems—and form the perfect backdrop for the lush green fairways. Often, the mountains seem ablaze as the first rays of morning-sunshine burst in brilliant crimson against them. And, as the extensive population of Peninsular Bighorn Sheep does the dance of cliff-side agility, you’ll have the best seat in the house. Because only SilverRock offers a front-row seat to this natural wonder.
SilverRock will be the perfect oasis.
THE WORDS ‘LUSH’ AND ‘DESERT’ SELDOM GO TOGETHER. SilverRock will be the exception, as the water here will bring the resort to life. A half-dozen lakes already follow the base of the mountains and form refreshing features on the golf course. It is those waters that will turn SilverRock into a veritable garden. Trees will line the streets. The irrigated fairways will remain rich and green throughout the year. Resorts and residences will have landscaped courtyards. There will be small fountains tucked away in quiet corners, and giant water sprays will delight children. If it is true that water gives life, SilverRock will be full of life indeed.
The last great piece of golf property in the Coachella Valley.
IN A PLACE ALREADY REVERED FOR ITS OUTSTANDING GOLF, SilverRock’s golfing experience promises to set a new standard. Already, the first course, designed by Arnold Palmer—with its combination of stunning water features and mountain backdrop—has earned a place on Golf Magazine’s “Top 10 New Courses You Can Play.” Spread over 200 acres, the course is slated to become one of the venues of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic as early as 2008. A charming ranch house, built when the property was still a working citrus grove, serves as the pro-shop and grill. Owners at SilverRock will enjoy the special reduced green fees that were arranged by La Quinta solely for its residents. And that is just the beginning. A second planned course will add a whole new dimension, and new challenges, to those who come here to play. Along with this course, a dramatic new clubhouse and golf center will be added. There will be a teaching center, practice facilities, putting greens, and more.
S I LV E R R O C K W I L L H AV E A N U N C O M M O N SENSE OF STYLE. THE ARCHITECTURE OF SilverRock will be both new and deeply traditional. As you walk through the resort, the buildings will feel part of the natural environment. The design will blur the line between the indoors and outdoors. Building-locations will take their cues from the land, rather than impose their will on it. It will be a place that is in harmony with its magnificent surroundings. Architectural styles will borrow from the rich Spanish history of the region. Colors, details, and textures will be combined to present a simple yet sophisticated presence— soft, relaxing, and cool. It is a comfortable style that complements the setting and the attitude of those who spend time here. Natural woods, understated colors, slates, ceramics, granite, and marble will blend to define the SilverRock style. There will be a sense of timelessness, history and sensitivity. A veritable garden will surround the structures. There will be lush entrances planted with native species and colorful flowers. When possible, the “life blood” of the desert, water, will be incorporated into the landscape—fountains, waterfalls, and quiet lakes. SilverRock will embody—physically and spiritually—the balance of nature’s four core elements: fire, water, wind, and earth. For it is that balance, in this very spot, that has attracted so many for so long.
You might never want to leave.
W
HILE IT IS TRUE that SilverRock’s central location will give you the
freedom to easily explore for miles in every direction, it is also going to be a resort that is rich and vibrant enough to keep you entertained and contented without ever stepping foot outside its perimeter. In fact, when complete, the resort will be a place where you can
spend an entire visit without moving your car. With planned on-site
amenities such as shopping, meeting places, theatres, classes,
restaurants, galleries, and even a dance studio, there’s enough to keep you as busy—or lazy—as you’d like. And a gently-winding path that becomes a boardwalk along the water will connect it all.

RESORT HOTEL AND SHOPPING
Turning the vision REALITY FOR SilverRock will begin on a 16-acre parcel located at the northern end of the resort. It is an appropriate place to begin, for it incorporates many of the finest features of the entire property. Water. Golf. Outdoor recreation. Relaxation. The location could not be better. It overlooks one of the lakes and the second and seventh fairways of the Palmer golf course, and is easily accessible from the nearby entrance. The parcel will include an elegant boutique hotel, a collection of charming casitas, a spa that features the healing powers of water, and nearby spa villas. Appropriately, this resort-within-a-resort will be called Agave. Agave comes from the Greek word for “noble, and is the namesake of over 200 recognized species of the plant. Agave has been cultivated in North America for at least 9,000 years and used for clothing, paper, and rope. The Native American Indians in the area valued it for its medicinal powers. It was also used to make North America’s first indigenous distilled spirit, tequila. This historic plant grows on the property and near the point where the hotel will be built.
into reality—Agave.
UNLIKE A TRADITIONAL HOTEL, AGAVE AT SILVERROCK will be a collection of casitas and villas carefully clustered around courtyards and gardens. These green spaces will be an important part of the Agave experience. They will provide places for visitors to gather, providing open views to the fairways and mountains beyond. They will also be connected by a latticework of pathways which lead from the welcoming lobby to the spa, and then to the villas. The courtyards will be textured with brick pavers, stone, decorative fountains, and trellised sitting areas shaded with native trees and plants. Each will be differentiated from the other by the selection of plants, the design, and a distinctive water feature. The verandas and patios of the hotel residences will overlook the gardens. These authentically-designed casitas and villas will seamlessly unify indoors with out. Patios, outdoor showers, large windows, and shaded areas will be blended in a comfortable, human scale. The location will encourage pedestrian traffic, minimizing the need for cars. The pathways will lead you to the first tee of the golf course, and later to the themed shopping and core resort area. Here you can take an early-morning jog at the base of the mountains, then relax and watch the sun rise over them. A new fine restaurant will also be steps away. At the very core of this remarkable place will be a form of hospitality that is all but lost in the hotels that dominate the country today. This hotel will be managed by Destination Hotels and Resorts, the same group that runs the Four-Diamond Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. The Royal Palms has distinguished itself—worldwide—with attention to detail, a well-trained staff, and a dedication to its guests. All of which will be emulated at Agave. Agave will, in the end, be a place like no other. And yet a place where you immediately feel like you belong.

N A PLACE WHERE the elements come together in perfect
harmony, it’s only fitting to create a spa that harnesses those
elements to relax, rejuvenate, and indulge. Set against a backdrop of the rugged mountains, The
Spa will be Agave’s ultimate expression of concern for the well being and the health of its guests. The Spa’s wellness, fitness, and beauty facilities will invigorate those who are here, and set a standard of excellence for the entire region. Appropriately, waters will be the focal point of The Spa. The healing powers of water have been known since ancient times. Romans “took the water” or bathed daily to ease wounds and relax. Spring water was used extensively by Native Americans. Indeed, the water attracted many of the earliest settlers in the Coachella Valley. Here those qualities will be extended. There will be steam baths, waterfall rooms, soaking baths, and unique treatments using local native plants. There will also be a zero-edge pool that connects to The Spa’s signature spaces. The Spa—and all of Agave—will be a place where one is truly pampered in every way.
