On June 7, 2012, a large crowd of art enthusiasts filled the spaces at LMNT in Wynwood for the inauguration of the 2nd Edition of
the
International
Biennale
Artists
Exhibition
http://internationalbiennaleartistsexhibitionsmiami.com/, a collective art exhibition by 56 international contemporary artists, some of them already showcased in previous formal biennales. The exhibition was officially inaugurated by City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado accompanied by Mercedes Lopez Cisneros, event organizers Cary (Tata) Fernandez, Maria Napoles and Matt Anzak along with LMNT owner and artist Gino Tozzi who performed a cutting-ribbon ceremony across the entrance of the mega-plex. For more than a year, Tozzi has been working to get all permits approved with the city to formally operate as Wynwood's unique multi-use venue that includes a full bar, covered lounge patio, exceptional gallery space, a state-of-the-art recording studio, and a 2,000 sq f video/production studio with 3-walled Cyclorama fully-equipped with professional lighting and sound system. With the International Biennale Artists Exhibition Miami, LMNT opens up its doors to the public as a unique breeding ground

In this occasion, artists such as Rome-based Nicolantonio Muccaccia, Israeli painter Ted Barr, New York City-based artists, Puneeta Mittal, James (Sexer) Rodriguez & Luis Lamboy, Argentinian-based Gaby Grobo, and Mexican artist Araceli Salcedo traveled to Miami especially for the exhibition. Sabine Blodorn Art is free and so should it be! I am a self-taught Gold Coast /Australia based artist, dedicated to contribute visual to the abstract expressionistic art world. A combination of desire, passion and love for sometimes wild combinations of colors on canvas or board has resulted in my production of mostly loud work, relating to land, life and beyond. I do innovate and often create work with a sequence of surprise. Being flexible and not boxed into a certain style

while remaining faithful to a subject/topic has resulted in experimental work, challenging colours, canvas and creativity. My main objective is reflection but in more than one way – I like to integrate the past, the here and now or the unknown as in future, time or space; sometimes via addition of different types of objects, mirrors, stones or by simply applying interesting texture onto canvas or board. By using this technique my paintings almost become alive, allowing visual interchange due to their own ability to reflect the soul.

fine art Jason Fairchild By Robert Kameczura Based in Chicago,USA, Jason Fairchild is a modern artist that currently uses painting as the fastest and best way to get his message out there. Women are the center of the art of Jason Fairchild: or to be more accurate women and the unique forms of space that surround them. (Untitled) The women he portrays are not the everyday women we see on the street waiting for buses or shopping in the neighborhood supermarket, they are sexually charged nude or semi-nude figures that seem part lover, part mother, part dream girlfriend, part wife, part earth goddess. They are figures of beauty, pleasure, pain, mysticism and fantasy. (Angel of Destruction) His figures are also involved in differing ways with processes of metamorphosis and transformation. They are attempts to portray the journey’s of the soul through various stages and roles in life but in a way which emphasizes the ambiguity of humanity floating through time and space. His figures seem in the midst of travel in journeys that are infinite; his images frozen moments in endless voyages where the model poses for a second in a fantastic landscape, let’s the artist capture her image, but will soon move on to travel onward to another place and another time and another role in her existence. (Shore’s Left Behind) As such his woman have a slightly ambiguous dream like quality that hints at, but never overtly states, elements of the human condition. In his art Eros meets encounters the mysteries of nature; swirling seas and skies, as well as vast, usually barren, landscapes are a common motif. Gabriel Gross By Marco Antonio Rodríguez Gabriel Gross (from Quito, Ecuador - 1952) is an extremely perceptive and sensitive man, whose art is the vital epicenter of his life. It is away from art that he withdraws and to which he always returns without delay. Art has been the core of his existential being. As a child, Gabriel, drew in secret (from whom was he hiding? himself? who knows?). His rich and varied intellect is due to his tireless longing for integral training and knowledge, always in the field of the visual arts. His experience as a producer, director, light and sound designer for multiple theatre productions, along with his dynamic personality, has led him to act in short films. Lightness and levity are the signs of Gross’s art. His visuals do not provoke, rather they ease. They do not invoke anxiety, rather they strengthen. They do not darken; they illuminate.
They do not distract, rather they seduce. It doesn’t matter if his visuals penetrate one’s inner perplexities or confront themes of the environment. The artist, unperturbed, gives us a sunny and joyful world impregnated with tenderness. The dreams of his childhood and adolescence are a constant theme in his work. It is in this space that Gross houses his characters. “I dream with an art of equality and serenity, dispose of themes of disquiet or deprivation,” - said Matisse. Gross reaches these high spheres, undoubtedly provided by his intense spirituality. He is a man searching for the essence of life, the meaning of his existence, its inescapable dialect of joy and sadness, drive and hesitation, isolation and hope. Semproniu Iclozan is an intentionally known American artist, born in Transilvania, Romania. He received his MFA from Nicolaie Grigorescu Art Academy, Bucharest, Romania. Patton Hunter Painting is my first language. Using bold, expressionistic images, I draw from my life and interpret experiences, good and bad, to connect with viewers’ own personal memories. Patton Hunter lives and works in her loft studio/gallery in downtown St. Petersburg, FL, named two years running as best mid-sized city for the cultural arts in the United States. From more than 3,300 competitors, she was voted one of the “Top Ten Artists Over 60” in The Artist’s Magazine national competition in the March 2011 issue and was noted among “Ones to Watch” by Watercolor Magazine in their December 2011 issue.
Patton served on the search committees of the Pinellas County Arts Council in commissioning the work of Christopher Still for the Pinellas County courthouse murals and served as juror for the Pinellas County School system’s annual art exhibit for students, Sarasota Arts Center members competition as well as exhibits at Beach Art Center in Indian Rocks Beach and Suntan Arts Center on St. Pete Beach.

Marina Izrailevich The roots of my life and work are steeped in Russian art and culture. My earlier works had a whiff of Russian Constructivism (purely unconsciously; I was thrilled when it was pointed out to me). I am still searching for a way to express the breadth of feelings and emotions and the struggle for meaning and life’s anchor. My major influences are Mark Rothko, Wassily Kandinsky and Marc Chagall. My heart leaps when I see their work and I think ‘how do I do THAT’. My work is color, texture, and flow. Movement of pencil on paper, brush on canvas, and lines and shapes on a surface, any surface. The excitement of watching hot metal bending under acetylene torch and the flow of melting metal as two pieces are joined together and a sculpture emerges. It's about the

impossible, the discovery of a potential, and the excitement of seeing a completed work. And I continue the search. I like to work with almost all media: oil on canvas; watercolor, chalk, charcoal, and pastel on paper; occasional painting or drawing in acrylic; welded steel sculpture. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts at LIU in New York. I have had several shows in galleries in Manhattan and Long Island, and one of my shows was featured in the New York Times. I currently live and work in Santa Cruz, California.

Zofia Kijak Zofia Kijak is a painter, architect and photographer with academic degrees from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology and from the Faculty of Painting at the renowed Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and many exhibitions throughout Poland. Her paintings have resulted from many years of en plein air work in Australia, South Pacific and Mediterranean. There are landscapes, seascapes, garden themes, portraits and still lifes.
Zofia Kijak’s fascination with color characterises all her works. The artist is using vivid hues, works are filled with light and radiate with happiness. The author’s aim was to bring to the spectator positive emotions and encourage optimistic view of the world. A passion for intense colours results from inspiration with impressionism and travelling to the countries full of sunshine, colourful buildings and fairy-tale lush vegetation.

Paula Laflamme Born in Montreal in 1964, Paula Laflamme is a self taught artist and began painting in 1992.

Paula spent her childhood between land and sea, the slums of Montreal, and the richness of her ancestors, from Gaspé. Her paintings are her own compositions, they are her work.
Paula allows herself to be carried away by her foolishness, she lets it be sweet, bitter or violent. She lets her brushes guide her until the darkness reaches the light.
Using her emotions and the expressions of the people she meets, she lives in interesting situations and moves deep into her characters and those who contemplate.

Paul Scott Malone is an abstract oil painter and literary writer of poetry and has published three books of fiction. From 1972 to 1974 Malone served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, since then he has worked as a newspaper journalist, literary critic and university professor of contemporary literature and writing at several schools. Paul Scott Malones’ education includes an MFA in creative writing and contemporary literature from The University of Arizona in 1986, and a BA from the University of Houston in journalism and literature in 1978. In 1990 Paul Scott was awarded a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts (U.S.) and has received many other prizes and awards as well. In visual art, except for a few drawing courses and some tutoring by two wonderful teachers, Paul Scott has been quoted as saying that he is a self-taught artist. In 2005, shortly after Malone discovered his current painting technique, which is now known as Atmospheric Expressionism. Paul Scott purchased an old house in a small desert town outside Tucson, AZ, near the border of Mexico and transformed the house and its garage into an excellent studio. For almost five years he lived there with his two dogs as steady companions, and,
painting and drawing almost constantly, he created most of his body of work - hundreds of paintings, drawing, pastels, watercolors and acrylics - that he is now offering to the world. His hometown is Houston, Texas, but then Paul Scott has moved thirty-six times in his life and has lived in numerous parts of the country. His home is now in Glen Rose, TX. In addition to his painting and writing, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Contemporary Literature and Writing at nearby Tarleton State University.

fine art Jacqui Morgan When Jacqui Morgan received her BFA from Pratt, she entered a world without any female illustrators. She with BarbaraNessim and Lorraine Fox who passed away very young, were the first and only working female illustrators. During the heyday of the psychedelic, she designed and illustrated the iconic Electric Circus Poster and went on to create more iconic images for the American Optometric Association, Sansui, Scott Printing, Celanese, Exxon, and 7 UP Billboards. Unique covers for American Artist Magazine, Mac Millan Books, Print Magazine and Cosmopolitan along with album covers for RCA, ads for DeBeers diamonds and animated commercials for Burlington Mills and General Mills were among her achievements. She always loved science fiction and illustrated a few anthologies for young readers. Seeking excitement and change, Morgan began to experiment with painting on found objects such as chairs, sofas, shovels and drawers. Elle Nicolaï is an Artist of the Spirit who creates Visionary Art through Dreams and Meditation. Jon Bøe Paulsen Jon Bøe Paulsen work of art can be presented under the name New-Realism. Portrait of mankind with a classical brush but put in a modern context. "Clair obscure" Light in the darkness, a name to a certain style that was invented with the painter Caravaggio in the 15th century and futher developed with the Dutch master Rembrandt in the 16th century. New-Realism today sets the modern woman and man under debate with painters who contructs tablaux in a social realistic way. Very few figurative artists in Norway works with watercolour, but Jon Bøe can't resist it even if it breaks with the ground principles of how a Clair Obscure painting is build up. "I can resist anything but a temptation"- Oscar Wilde. A Painting in oil is mainly produced on a dark canvas surfice prefrebly with the colour Raw Umber because that is the colour of the shadow of the human flesh. All that the painter then have to do is to add the light parts of the portrait. Such an artist use the ground of the canvas activly to present for example a study of the human body.

The watercolour "Romeo & Juliet" (28 x 52in) which Paulsen hereby present is therefore not exemplary to the kind of artist he belong to, but sometimes Jon Bøe tempted to play with the white paper which can create the razerblade touch of light. It is of course difficult because a watercolour punish you hard if you do mistakes and a wrong brushstroke can completely destroy yesterdays work. Light and the feeling of a three dimentional space is what ALL art is really about. “I do not travel much, I never sketch on the train and even my landscapes are painted indoors and I do not work abroad. My paintings is created in my home studio in Oslo, Norway because I belive in steady, predictably working conditions regardless of seasons and weather conditions. Elly Potamianos Noticed in art at a young age after starting school by teachers and principals, although, there was an attached appreciation in mostly Classical Art, the most prominent interest in the modern realm became Surrealism. Intrigued and fascinated by the mystic of such in depth analysis that delved into the subconscious became a primary concentration. Meeting some master artists at this time was a most exciting treat with an intellectual reciprocation upon interacting that contributed in confidence, creativity, and stretching the imagination beyond. The interest continued with many imaginative and exciting art projects from some very good teachers using a wide array of mediums. After graduating high school there was an opportunity to visit Greece, again for a short vacation, which turned out to be an advantageous and educational art experience. Chosen
through competition to attend the Anotati Scholin Kalon Technon, Institute of Art in Athens, Greece, contributed in not only to further cultivate a precise technique, but to appreciate the symmetry of the most outstanding ancient civilizations through their remaining artifacts. Although, creativity and art became a small addition to office work latter, a boardroom level of presentations in a more commercial venue returning to the arts is especially gratifying. Just from scratch or executing the many compositions created in mind, both past and present will dominate new accomplishments. Mila Ryk is a 3rd generation artist born in the Ukraine, she immigrated to United States in 1991. Shortly after moving to Chicago, she was introduced to Leon Oks, an artist whose work has inspired her greatly. She has been taking art lessons in his studio for several years. “Leon has helped me free my mind and express myself in ways I never thought possible” she said.
Inspired by Art Nouveau and amazed by the endless beauty of Orchids, she developed her unique style and technique, which gave her the ability to share her vision and feelings with a viewers. Mila Ryk unites line work of figures, brushstrokes, colors and nature in one single form of harmony and beauty. In 2009 Mila’s artwork has been published in the Best of America Oil Artists, Volume II book. Her art was listed in the International Dictionary of Artists 2011.

Alicia H. Torres Alicia H. Torres was born in Columbia. Studied in Barranquilla at Marymount School. Spent four years in Switzerland where she studied Art History at the Institutes La Pelouse in Bex and Montcalme in Lausanne. Alicia had the chance to visit European museums and enjoy and admire what she loves most –art and all of its expressions. Alicia graduated in psycho-pedagogy at the Corporation Universitaria de la Costa. Presently, Alicia reside in
Miami, Florida, where she took Ikebana classes at Fairchild Tropical Gardens with the Japanese teacher Mieko Kubota and ceramic classes with the Master Rafael Consuegra where she had her first exhibition. Akicia also took portrait classes with Yovani Bauta and had completed painting courses for five years at Miami Dade College with renowned Artist Baruj Salinas.

James Wisnowski is a graduate of the American Academy of Art and a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. In addition, he is a member of the Oils Painter's of America, California Art Club, Laguana Plein Air Painter's of America, American Watercolor Society, Chicago Artists Coalition, and the Palette and Chisel Fine Art Arts Academy. For thirty years, he has taught his technique at the Palette and Chisel Fine Art Academy in Chicago, the Old Town Art Center in Chicago, the North Shore Art League, Winnetka, IL and the Palos Verdes Art Center, CA. James focuses on the outdoor landscape in both oils and watercolor mediums, traveling and teaching his technique in workshops extensively in inspirational locations in Europe and the USA. Painting en plein air gives him a more immediate and intimate encounter with the subject, which allows him to translate the experience onto canvas. These paintings are then often used as studies for larger work done in the studio. His technique is a defined as a realist and a colorist, simplifying and emphasizing the light and color in order to communicate his

vision of his environment as he sees it. James believes painting is a visual language with no need of verbal explanation. The images should express themselves through the painting. Living in Chicago for much of his art career has given him a unique feeling for the urban cityscape. Through his work, he shares the rediscovered beauty that may be lost or forgotten in every day subjects. He shows the uniqueness found in simple ordinary neighborhood scenes, which are often overlooked. After relocating to California, the rocky coastlines, colorful fishing villages, and vineyards, as well as the urban scenes, continue to inspire his work.

Irena Orlov innovative, contemporary fine artist, architect, designer, illustrator, photographer is known for creating captivating works which are full of energy. Lynda Sappington Self-taught sculptor Lynda Sappington was born in Virginia, well-known as horse country. Her first word was “pretty,” her second, “hoss,” much to the surprise of her parents (who lived in a duplex at the time). As a sculptor, she’s able to combine these two lifelong passions in the creation of art in a romantic yet realistic style. “The horses are just in my hands,” she says, and they come out in the clay as graceful, elegant forms that seem to breathe. Lynda started sculpting in 1993, took 1994 “off” from art (too busy being a horse-show mom to pursue art), got serious in 1995, and in 1996 turned “pro” to pursue her dream of producing bronze sculptures. Her training includes workshops on sculpting, horse anatomy, patinas, mold-making, casting and painting. In addition to sculpting, Lynda Sappington is a singer with seven years of operatic training and a college degree in music.
She has won numerous awards for her writing, photography and art. In 2002, she published her first book on art, Sculpture 101: A Primer for the Self-Taught Artist, which is now in its second edition and is available on Amazon, through her Website and various art supply stores. She has two fantasy novels available on Amazon, as well. In 2010, Lynda began creating a life-size sculpture of a 17 hand stallion. The finished bronze is over 8’ high by 9’ long and was installed in Wisconsin in the spring of 2012. In addition to horses, she sculpts domestic animals, wildlife and figurative work, but horses are where her heart is. Lynda creates trophies for many race tracks, breed organizations and horse shows both in the US and Canada, from year-end awards to trophies for Olympic qualifiers. Her work is collected world-wide.

Beverly Zimmer From the beginning of her career, the sport horse industry has been Beverly Zimmer's target. Her sculpture has been chosen above others to portray these athletic horses due to her understanding of their work. Yet, these powerful forms have the most sensitive feeling about them. Beverly believes that these soulful expressions in her work come from years of seeing horses in training, play, breeding, birthing, and death. Furthermore, the artist's unmatched sensitivity in sculpting has been her signature in the equine art market. Sculptor, Beverly Zimmer, graduated from the Tyler School of Art in 1990. During her enrollment, she challenged the boundaries of the academic sculpture criteria by working in more of a performance art genre. Her ambition in exploring the equine form in unconventional context was received enthusiastically. Projects included a pseudo birthing of a human from a horse, and mobile, skeleton simulations that were operated by the artist while harnessed inside of them. Following her graduation, she gave only a few more performances involving her life-size, puppet-like props before settling into a profession of custom sculpture. Since 1992, the artist has actively participated, and frequently won awards, in various juried art shows in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Florida, and New York. However, being involved in the horse industry for over twenty years has proved to be a better marketing tool than any gallery. She saves her Surreal and intensely graphic bronze sculptures for gallery submissions. Her most notable Surrealistic work is the life-size nude, “Respectable”. This piece features a tired female, harnessed, yet holding her own “reins”. The piece is simply an expression of the trials of being self-employed in the art field, but is often misinterpreted as erotic art. Still, this sensitive work earned unanimous approval from an educated art jury in New York. Other Surreal pieces from the artist stem from 28 • Art&Beyond • July/August 2012
personality interpretations, and feature gross metamorphosis between humans and animals. Beverly’s Surreal work does not suffer from the lack of shock value. This is emphasized by the artist’s persona. With her chirpy personality masking a wealth of talent and a challenging intellect, the artist is as complex as her work. In 1995, the artist's business, Forge Hill Sculpture, expanded into jewelry designing and custom bronze commissions. The artist's work was also featured in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. In addition, the Olympic committee commissioned the artist to create a sculpture for each of the members of the United States Equestrian Team as participation gifts. Beverly’s sculptural quality in her jewelry designs is unparalleled. She has done designs for four of the major equestrian jewelers in the country.

Guy Belair My passion for photography goes back to thirty years ago during my university education in science and my first and only scientific photography class. Since then, I have been pursuing my skills, mainly in nature photography. For the last 7 years, I have shifted to digital photography and I have participated regularly in contests on this topic, especially in macro photography. Last year, I participate for the first time in an art & craft exhibition to sell my photos. Recently, I became a member of ArtxTerra web site (http://artxterra.com/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=viewowner&user_id=645&Itemid=101 ) to spread my artistic work. Since 2010, I have started exploring more creative ways of making nature photography using digital techniques, with the objective of maintaining and expressing the spontaneity and freshness of nature photography.

Arthur Jacob Throughout my life I have always had a greater visual sense about how the world looked versus other senses. This visual dominance in perceiving the world has profoundly affected my work as an artist. My art offers an infinite variety of visual perceptions and interpretations for the viewer. The viewer is told what the “real Life” image is in the title of the piece, but through abstraction and reconstruction of that image, the viewer is then asked and challenged to explore the shapes, colors, movements and forms, which the abstraction and reconstruction presents. Colors and shapes become emotion, while form and movement become attitude. Even when a work is easily recognized there is still a predominate thread of color, movement, shape and form. The techniques to achieve these photographic abstractions and reconstructions are a thoughtful and purposeful digital manipulation. Using a mouse rather than a brush to achieve a powerful medium of expression and communication, creates this style of fine art. Prior to retiring in 2000 and devoting all of my time to photography and digital art, my professional career encompassed activities from social services to becoming involved with marketing, promotion and public relations in three large healthcare corporations. I later became the publisher of a small publishing house in Minneapolis that focused on adult and children’s books that addressed many
types of family issues. After leaving the work-a-day world, I moved from Portland to Las Vegas. It was there that I began to promote myself as a serious artist focusing on creativity with photography and digital art. In 2008 I decided to return to the Portland area via Coos Bay where I presently resides. I also have a strong belief that one should be involved in the communities I live in. Putting this belief in to action, I have actively served on several community boards and committees, most recently, the Contemporary Arts Collective in Las Vegas and the Coos Bay Art Museum in Oregon.

Daniel R. Johnson A fascination with art started early with Daniel, but he really found his direction during his first year at Salt Lake Community College studying Graphic Design. It was then that he was introduced to the still-fledgling world of computer art. Graduating from Brigham Young University with a BFA in Illustration, he continued working with digital art and animation. In addition to freelance illustration, he began his career in computer games, eventually moving to northern California to pursue further opportunities. Daniel was eventually hired as an onsite digital illustrator for a Sonoma county design firm, where he honed his skills through years of commercial art for high tech, construction, infrastructure, and transportation clients. He also began teaching at colleges throughout the Bay Area, including the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. To continue teaching, Daniel became an Adobe Certified Instructor in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash. He has won national awards

for his digital illustration, has been interviewed in industry publications, and has given presentations where he demonstrates his techniques. Daniel currently resides in Petaluma, California, where he works as a freelance digital artist, teacher, and author.

Max Tzinman Max Tzinman was born in Romania and lived in Israel and Canada, immersing himself in a multitude of cultures that influenced his artistic philosophy. Formerly an architect, since his move to New York City he has returned to his first love, art. He has recently participated in art and photography shows at LACDA (Los Angeles Center For Digital Art), The Center for Fine Art Photography (Ft. Collins, CO), BAG (Brooklyn Art Gallery), Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Art Gallery, Moss Rehab/Einstein, Atlantic Gallery, MOCA (Museum of Computer Art), and the William Penn Foundation. He explains: "I am not a photographer or a conventional painter but an image storyteller. I am not trying to freeze the moment with a beautiful image, but to transform it to reveal the disturbing emotions that are buried beneath the surface".
