Contemporary Art Projects USA will return for the third time to Spectrum Art Fair to showcase pieces from midcareer and established national and international artists; catering to high-end collectors, art enthusiasts, art lovers, and buyers - as more than 4,200 guests on opening night, and more than 30,000 guests throughout the week visit its premises during the show. Under the direction of Tata Fernandez, Excecutive Director, and curated by Silivia Medina, the gallery will showcase the artists at Booth 315. The fair will be held December 2-6, 2015 at 1700 N. E. 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33132, with a VIP reception on December 2nd / 6-10pm. Open to the public Thursday through Saturday 12-8pm, and Sunday 12-5pm. Ricardo Cardenas, Mexico, will be the invited artist showcasing a solo show titled: "Autobiografico en Concreto". Surekah Sadana wlil be showcasing a solo show titled: "Pure Consciousness". Alongside the talented roster of national and international aritsts, Contemporary Art Projects USA has been accepted to exhibit a unique juried fundraising international collaborative where over 200 hundred artists will come together to create the "Help-Hope-Nepa Mural" - sponsored by major corporations - to benefit the April 25th Nepal earthquake victims through the MAITIRERELIEFFUND. The mural - chosen by Spectrum to be featured as Art Lab 2; one of the special programs highlighted by the fair - will showcase all innovative media including: painting, photography, digital art, 3D printing, and mixed media. Contemporary Art Projects USA
has been accepted to exhibit a unique juried fundraising international
collaborative - envisioned by visual artist/photographer Maria Fernanda Lairet and embraced and developed by Contemporary Art Projects USA - where 300 hundred national and international artists from Dubai, Japan, Latin America, Switzerland, the United States, will come together to create the “Help-Hope-Nepal Mural” - sponsored by major corporations - to benefit the April 2015 Nepal earthquake victims through the MAITIRERELIEFFUND. The mural will showcase all innovative media including: painting, photography, 3D printing, digital art, and mixed media. The image icon for this mural will be a photograph by Venezuelan artist/photographer, Maria Fernanda Lairet.
Maria Fernanda LAIRET In my portraits, I seek the moments of abandonment, the essential soul that peeks, the experiences fused on the faces of the subjects… When I find a person – or the appropriate subject – I might return one, two times, or a half a dozen times; always waiting for “that moment”. Unlike the writer, once the subject is ready, for my camera shot, there is no other opportunity; I either capture him, or I do not. I feel that this is what drives and obsesses professional photographers; the rush of saying: “I got it”. For me, portrait photography is about the desire to connect; the very strong longing that drives people who know that they will never see me again to allow me to photograph me- all with the hope that, somewhere else, another person will be seeing that image; someone who will laugh or suffer from that experience. I can never forget the faces; and some places I do not wish to remember. Everyone represents for me casual acquaintances in a world of resistance and adaptation. The professional and personal process that I have undergone has been one of satisfaction mixed in with trial after trial; with countless experiences relating to them that I am most passionate about: creating. Immersed in the designing process; producing and transmitting what I carry inside of me; my creativity, spirituality, and passion for photography – where one observes what one can; be it nature, faces, or details that serve as my inspiration to create and innovate. Each time I create, I transport myself to what lays behind what I want to transmit. All fields such as painting, photography, and the world of spirituality are interconnected; because they all lead us to the creativity that I am most passionate about – to what has allowed me to obtain the visual results that so much please the viewers. In this case, the portrait of this little boy in India, I have chosen to donate to help the Nepal children who continue to suffer alongside their families and need assistance after the devastating earthquake that lasted 17 days. Our objective remains focused on protecting them after this terrible situation, and you are all indispensible. This is why we artists, photographers, and creatives have collaborated to help – through our work – this beautiful special cause. Please, donate now to help the children who remain in grave danger; they need you. With the purchase of a painting or photograph, you are helping them. We thank you for opening your hearts and spirits to this humane endeavor.

Ms. Medina was a founding member of the Havana Biennial and the Wilfredo Lam Center in Havana, Cuba; she also held the director position at The Foundation for the Development of the Arts, and was the Executive Director of Sala Mendoza in Caracas, Venezuela. She is presently the full time curator for Contemporary Art Projects USA.

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Tata Fernandez, Executive Director
This year, for the first time, Contemporary Art Projects USA will present an international exhibition of emerging and established artists, in conjunction with solo shows and curated projects; including the unique "Help-Hope-Nepal Mural. It promises to be a very exciting show. The exhibition will be curated by Silvia Medina, Chief curator of Contemporary Art Projects USA; who I am very proud to have as a member of our gallery. She is a very seasoned experienced professional, with an extensive background ranging from Institutions and Biennales, to her being a founding member of the Havana Biennale". Our mission is to promote art appreciation within the international community, to inspire and assist with the process of art collection, and to generate resources that support the artists' creative endeavors through art awarreness, artist promotion, and art procurement. We work with the best minds in the industry, and share our experience and passion for marketing the arts, culture, and entertainment; from Biennales and gala auctions, to exhibitions and major international art fairs. We have the experience, innovative drive, and creativity to engage audiences through inspired campaigns.

For the past year, Contemporary Art Projects USA has included the curator figure in all of its events and exhibitions; one of its major initiatives being the creation of a curatorial assessment and support program that encompasses the artist’s trajectory of a work from conception to completion. This mentorship is based on a one-to-one relationship between the artist and the curator where the artist expresses ideas, intentions, and reflections about the creative process that initiates a cooperation between them that develops into a project rather than an isolated piece without a totality. Each project is chosen according to the event where it will be exhibited, in that way, the curator figure in Contemporary Art Projects USA develops a comprehensive group of projects for each exhibition; as is the case with Spectrum 2016, where visitors will be able to appreciate an expertly orchestrated collective of projects and solo shows – all under one curatorial guidance, yet cognizant of and attentive to each artist’s unique creative process. For each exhibition, an invited artist who has been working closely with the curator for several months, joins forces with her to create the comprehensive body of work to be exhibited; this is a well-thought out work, where each piece has its specific reason for being a part of the whole. Our gallery is not interested in just filling wall space, or in having a boutique show that lacks coherency; our spaces are curated to become mini gallery exhibits. It is our firm objective to continue to nurture and expand this curatorial program with our artists so that we can help them grow their artistic careers; especially where it pertains to emerging artists.

RICARDO CARDENAS - Mexico Invited Artist Special Solo Show Autobiografico en Concreto The artist states that " My work expresses my sentiments and passion for art". According to the critic of Silvia Medina, Chief Curator of Contemporary Art Projects USA, she defines that Ricardo's art encompasses a combination of the elements of cubism, gestural abstraction, and traces of the figurative that re-enforces his renditions of daily life and the people who populate it. His color schemes - representative of his culture's folklore - the flora, the exuberant scenes depicting daily life, are the elements from which his work derives. His works - created from cement covered with mesh - portray great visual force and rich formality of structure that overlap in a synthetic language where autobiographic themes prevail and revolve around the stylizing of figures and symbolic compositions focused on search, experimentation, and inquiries into Aztec art - all of which has been instrumental in inspiring the young artist.

Povera art has been influential in the construction of his sculptures; the exquisite sculptures he creates on the cement that serves as a platform on which he mounts the heavy pieces onto the wall as he employs his civil architectural knowledge. His work is an open picture gallery that projects the anthropological archaeology of his spiritual landscape; immersed in the ephemeral culture of today's absurd and cybernetic contemporary world. His creations depict the timelessness and inertness of his ancestor's poetic magic; which he artistically translates through aesthetics and human sensibility. SUREKHA SADANA - Dubai Special Solo Show Pure Consciousness Surekha Sadana explains: I would describe myself as a spiritual explorer. Since a very tender age I used to read the great Indian epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Vedanta. At that age I wasn’t aware about the real philosophy behind those magical words but when I grew up I started relating their principles and teachings in actual life. During this process of becoming mindful I realized that there is a higher purpose in life and also another state of consciousness beyond the normal waking, sleeping or dreaming state viz. a state of nonattachment, a silent state of inner wakefulness with no object of thought or perception. This withdrawal from indulgence opened doors to the inner world where I came across the magical concept of the awakening of KundI would describe myself as a spiritual explorer. Chris Delias - Austria Solo Show #CityLife Sylvia Medina tells us: “Chris Delias is a true artist in the making; someone who is as passionate when he interacts with his work as he is when he does so with the world around him – the characters that populate his paintings intermixing as actively with one another as they do with the imaginary worlds he deftly paints for them; his inner world and imagination energizing his work from his very early works. His work, reminiscent of Pop Art, is focused on daily urban life – symbolizing the elements of new technologies and social media networks that include: Facebook, WhatsApp, hashtags, and Apple-logo; creating and aesthetically unique platform. People dominate the foreground of the paintings, and are usually communicating with one another; as they are in his piece: “Samantha and Selfie”. The figures – somewhat expressionist and extremely colorful – do not give the impression of being engulfed in the overwhelming impact of social media, but rather very much a part of the actual -barring technological development – but instead, employing these elements to share and express their emotions and feelings. Although, Chris is no stranger to the risks that the banality of technology subjects us to, and in a recent interview by Art Daily News International Magazine reflected on his philosophy on

the subject: “My art needs to be viewed as a counterpart of all of this ‘Anti Real Relations’; for me, the center of everything is to be found in the beauty of humanity, the emotions, and human interactions. This can only be felt when one is among other human beings; not from a Smartphone or a screen”. Chris is in love with “fauve” colors, and in love with the world. He is an artist capable of enjoying and nurturing his creativity through everything that surrounds him; even with something as simple as strolling down a city street. A perfect example of this is his series: “Time Square, New York”, where he feels as free as the figures that he painted; which results in works that are loaded with a history created by the environment of the area. Another great example of is: “Nina and Layla”. His work is a cornucopia of the color, the music, the pathways Vienna (his home country); as well as social media’s influence in our contemporary global society. Evelyn Walg - Venezuela/USA Solo Show Conquering Success Evelyn Walg reflects: In my studio, when painting and giving thought to the little individuals that will start to move on the canvas, I see them in my mind with individual personalities; even though their faces are anonymous. They are all different (dynamic, slow, young, old, fat, and so on. On this occasion I created them to search for success. Jorge Cavalier - Colombia Solo Show Andean Gold Jorge Cavalier tells us: “Rain forests are the earth's lungs. Beauty and life emerge from those magical places. I consider forests as beings with their own soul. Each time I make a work of art related to them I'm rising my own awareness, thriving to expand it in a most direct way. Once collective awareness reach into love and compassion, we may reach to the forests and save our air. Depicting the cloud forests atmospheres and transmitting the golden peace that emerge from them I believe the difference will be done. I work with oils as my primary media on linen or gold gilded wood to achieve the soft mystical sensation of the forests' atmosphere. Painted laser cut stainless steel is the material used

Kelly Fischer - Switzerland Solo Show Scaffolding No Safety Net-No Parachute She shares: I developed a passion for painting and storytelling at a very young age. My first painting lesson was at the age of six. My parent's sent me and my sister to art lessons on Saturday mornings. At first I longed to be home in my pajamas watching Gumby. Over time painting challenged me in a way that nothing else ever had. I get a lot of satisfaction out of creating whatever I want.....no rules or boundaries. On the other hand, writing children's stories demands a lot of attention to word presentation and detail. There is a great deal of logic needed to create stories that make sense and send a clear message. I use an equal amount of artistic freedom when painting or writing. My imagination wanders to the same place for both types of creativity. Inspiration strikes when I feel vulnerable and things are out of my control. For example, I am a Montessori teacher and for several years I taught students between the ages of three to six. I was inspired to write my award winning book "The

Most Beautiful Color of All" during one of my lessons. I observed my students trying to prove to one another who was the most important or rather who was "king of the hill"! I decided to write a story about a box full of colored pencils that comes to life and explains their own story of why each of them is important. Writing and painting are different yet the same; both are an emptying of the soul, and very personal. Moreover, being playful, passionate and a little crazy helps! Luis Alberto Hernandez - Venezuela Solo Show Polyptych of Saint Augustin The artwork of Luis Alberto Hernandez intends to establish ties between our earthly limitations and the infinite through an artistic discourse where the images acquire symbolic dimensions that refer to the ultimate essence of religion; picking through this search, the longing for eternity that is inseparable from the human conscience. It is a sort of personal philosophy; elaborated within, and from the praxis of creation that involves elements of process such as inspiration and abilities; vital or existential circumstances (anxieties, illuminations); and ontological aspirations (What are we? What is the Sacred?). This reflection of his art is linked to a religious experience, since both disciplines of the spirit represent a response to the enigma of Creation. Art takes the seductive power of images, of religiosity, of the capacity to go beyond the evident. Numen and image are, thus, the main elements of Luis Alberto Hernandez’s work. His "Poetry of the Sacred" unveils for us the persistence - or the necessity - of artistic elements (signs, symbols), and a firm conviction in an extra-logic potential (dreams revelations, ecstasies, intuitions, rage). This artist evidently speaks of something more than the use of colors and lines; he refers to an inexpiable energy – unknown, but indisputable, since human beings can conduce it magically. Magic is not only an energetic force; in the context of art it is also a grace or gift that awakens prudence or enthusiasm among spectators, but never neutral reactions. Martin Schoffel - Venezuela Solo Show Geometria y Color Martin Schoffel tells us: I started of using pencil and paper, as well as cardboard and markers, resulting in very abstract black and white paintings. Now my style is more consistent and geometrical. I design my art in the computer and reflect it on aluminum. I basically crate kinetic, geometrical an OP art. My creative process is somewhat like improvising a speech, one may not be certain about what is going to be said, but de seed of the idea is planted in fertile ground. This is similar to what occurs with me; I start a piece with a general idea, but the end result is a secret that slowly unfolds a I work. I want to constantly improve my work, grow… my general goal is to impact viewers and to create something different, something transcendent.

I currently express my art through three different languages: 1. Linear Language: Inspired by palm trees, the artist takes them into lines, shown in black and white and without using any instruments, each piece accomplishes a clear effect. 2. Geometry and Color: In this pieces made of aluminum, the artist plays with geometry and color range that allow to create different visual effects so the viewer can enjoy the piece from several perspectives. 3. Overexposed dimensions: This pieces are created by metal rods that are cut , perfectly painted and arranged as they were overlaying their colors offering the viewer a visual game that gives a different perspective from each position as from the viewer to the piece. I consider that the best part of being an artist is being able to show my feeling, ideas and vision through my creations. Post Contemporary Art Initiative is a project born on the proposition of four artists influenced by figurative art. Together, they will present their viewpoint at Contemporary Art Projects USA Booth 315, during Art Basel Week. Elkin Canas, Mercedes Cisneros, Carlos Martinez Leon, and Milixa Moron; four artists of Venezuelan and Cuban origin, explore in their work the human figure in a contemporary setting; exalting simple moments of everyday life. Each artist presents to the viewer his or her vision of love, family, politics, and self-discovery. Milixia Moron and Mercedes Cisneros search to express in their workwomen's emotions and their eternal quest for identification. On the other hand, Elkin Canas experiments for the first time with fatherhood. Brush in hand; he shares special moments with his son as his sentiments transform his work. Carlos Martinez Leon reflects on his work his sentiments and emotions on the political reality of his country, Venezuela. Elena Bulatova - Russia/USA Elena Bulatova states that Lollipops remind us about naughty and careless childhood when we crave for sweets. “The Bright colors of my sculptures celebrate life and bring smiles. In my lollipops sculptures I overstate candies that lure, charm, tease, disarm, and surprise. Through the use of scale, color, and intensity in my forms, the lollipops we take for granted become aesthetically pleasing and seductive in atypical ways. My colorful, entertaining, and impeccably produced lollipops activate the cravings people have for the things that give them pleasure, and force them to surrender the sensual nature of the works that stimulate basic human needs that generate desires and passion; they illustrate society’s striving for fulfillment and happiness through possession of things that end in dependency. EL GANADOR (THE WINNER). 25” x 18” x 22”, Sculpture
Fermin Fleites - Cuba This sculpture is a re-creation of a key symbol of humanity’s great religions throughout history; a symbol that demarcates the birth of symbolic sacrifice, and simultaneously its disruption. The lamb is present in Abraham son’s sacrifice, but this is not the first time that it was introduced, as it has been present as a metaphor of great transcendence for obedience, constancy, sacrifice, and resurrection since Paleo Cristian art. In present times, the lamb appears in Jewish liturgy, the Muslim “Eid Al Adha’, as a base for Christian rituals, and also in some Hindu mantras such as “Upanishad”. “El Ganador” is supported by a rod from the New York to Key West railroad built by Flagler, which was to eventually reach Havana. This sculpture is a metaphor of the constancy of re-inventing, and of the attitudes that make great changes possible. Grace Berge - USA With an absolute love for nature and a background in art therapy and observation, I combine my passions for photography, nature, discovery, and exploration to create imagery. The specifics and details of what I observe blend together in my mind's eye, and it is that blending, that compilation and abstraction of specific moments, that I hope to capture in my current body of work. If I had to put words to it, I might call it "post-modern neo-impressionism", but what it really amounts to is a combining and softening of environment and time into images that I hope encompass many moments, many thoughts, many feelings. The images I create - in-camera, sans digital manipulation - simplify what the bare eye sees, turning it into what we perceive when we look with a softer gaze, observing the essence rather than the specifics. It is a kind of minimalism, a reduction into sheer line, color, and movement, that represents something unclear which nevertheless feels familiar and recognizable. My photographs may take the viewers into an ethereal, tranquil, otherworldly place, one that prompts us to question our assumptions and find new answers. It is my sincere hope that these images inspire others to look more deeply into our natural world, to find in it, as I do, serenity and healing. Ileana Collazo - Cuba/USA Ileana Collazo states: The struggle to properly categorize the female identity has been long and hard, and no nearer to a resolution today than it was two centuries ago when women began to demand their rights as "equally viable" members of a male-dominated society that subjugated and exploited them with callous disregard. A lot has changed since then, as our sex has risen to a level of power that exponentially exceeds the expectations of our ancestral equal-rights pioneering warriors. But, a sexual/cognitive component of the stigma - one that seems almost impossible to overcome - still holds us hostage to too many of the old labels and restrictions that we, ourselves, seem bent on perpetuating; incomprehensibly, at the same time that we fight to finally gain full control of our rightful place in society. The result of this conundrum: a woman running for president alongside scores of women who are repeatedly abused by spouses that are too many times not properly held accountable for their actions; unequal pay for equal work; a sex-driven industry and endangers the female identity and damages the self-esteem of little girls who starve themselves to try to meet the unreasonable image projected by a fashion industry that does the complete opposite for our male counterparts. Questions, then, need to be asked: When will it ever end? Will women ever be treated as equals in the workplace? Will the art world finally deem our work as valuable as that created by men? Lorena Fernandez - Colombia As per Lorena Fernandez, this new series is a "carpe diem" of instances that do not repeat themselves; the landscape - be it urban or natural - constantly changes, and in each painting I gather images to make an album of the emotional manifestations that correspond to an instant caught by a human eye. Parting from the representation of minimalism, and losing the definition of object and line, the actual thought is lofty, so that the ideas have even more space; that is why color is so important for interpreting the elements that are in agreement with our environment, and generate the magnitude of the sensations of a sunset or a natural event. I depict in this piece my passion for places we all dream to visit sometime in our lives, gathering instances of summer, fall, spring, and winter of wonderful cities like Paris or New York. I open my heart to a twilight, a daybreak, and afternoon between skies and vegetation that leave footprints in each instance that someone opens her heart to embrace this scenery. Maria Ana Davila - Mexico Reflections on water are the thoughts, meditations, ruminations, joy and love, that each of us reflects on about oneself. It is completely personal; it is us looking deep inside; with our own contrasts, focused or unfocused, with our pale or vivid memories, our shadows, lights, and sharp edges. We can be quiet or stormy water, but there is always beauty. Through organic abstract art, I see that we form part of nature; just as we are stardust, drops of water, or reflections on water. We are unique and unrepeatable, the same way the water captured in an instant. It will never be the same, I can never repeat the same instant with the same reflection again,; and we are like this. Monica Loncola - USA When we asked Monica Loncola to define her work, she mentioned "Intimate Constructs- Inside Opened”, and stated that the inspiration for these newest works is a response to the recent lifting of sanctions between Cuba and the USA by the Obama Administration. “I wanted to celebrate this long awaited opportunity by incorporating in my work the one ongoing symbol that remains a coveted jewel of the Cuban export trade, the Havana Cigar; predominantly its container: The Cigar Box. I am mesmerized by the amount of detail, craftsmanship, and time that go into making these boxes and cigars by the people who roll them by hand, predominantly women. In the case of my work, I wanted to explore the notion of the box as a platform to create an alternate environment that would symbolize an opening up - if you will - of closed spaces, forbidden spaces that were otherwise strictly meant for one purpose only. It is my intention to use the handmade “Box” as a platform symbolizing “That which has been held secret, held inside, held at bay, is now opened; not only between Cuba's rich cultural heritage and the US, but in all areas of life: emotionally, spiritually, and physically and so on. Roy Rodriguez - Cuba Roy Rodriguez tells us, “Art is my Passion.” Born in Cuba, Roy discovered his passion for art at an early age. He started his art studies at “Casa de la Cultura” in Havana, Cuba, where he later exhibited at the age of seventeen; and was accepted in San Alejandro School of Art in Havana, but later that year left the country and arrived in Miami, Florida in 1985. He continued his studies in different art field, however, Roy is adamant that he is a self-taught individual who has been schooled in the techniques of the great contemporary masters, seeks his own aesthetic vocabulary and imagination in the use of color and texture to create a sultry palette. Using his childhood memories of Cuba, Roy Rodriguez passionately projects the hedonistic reality of his native island by utilizing vibrant colors and exploring the exotic. His work has been exhibited in galleries and cultural events, and has been featured in various television programs and magazines. He is an active community leader, and a contributor to fund-raising events - contributing to Non Profit Organizations such as; Italo’s Way Foundation, The Cuba Corps March of Dimes, Big Brothers Big Sisters He shares: "There is something that fascinates me about colors, and I love to use them on my canvas. William Stalthuth - Venezuela William Stalthuth shares that a stone ... if it is laying the middle of a road it may seem insignificant to some. But it all depends on who stumbles upon it. A warrior can turn it into a weapon, like David who defeated Goliath; or Michelangelo who saw the beauty of something as simple as a stone and transformed it into a masterful sculpture. A stone can serve as a place to rest after a long journey or even as a toy for a child, and was what inspired a man to invent the wheel when he saw it rolling. Finally, a stone is what the person who comes across it wants it to be. For me, it was a source of inspiration for these works that are here before you today. A stone has the ability to radiate positive energy and has its own vibration. I wanted to portray the stone as a power generator; I wanted to capture the strength and beauty of a stone through its colors, turning something as simple as a stone into a work of art.
