TURNING POINT. Fluid acrylic on canvas, 14” x 18”.
Stephanie Holznecht is originally from England but came over to America at the age of 19. After graduating college with a BA in graphic design and fine art, she worked as a graphic designer and art director for ten years. During that time Stephanie continued to evolve as a fine artist, concentrating mainly on realism.
SUPERCHARGED Fluid acrylic on canvas, 36” x 48”.
Over the following years her artwork diverted from realism, working in pen and ink, into a more abstract acrylic, and mixed media artistic style. Although Stephanie has not forsaken her realistic work – “I have found abstract work to be a much more exciting way of expressing who I am”. Her main focus now is using a type of paint called fluid acrylic to create her abstract paintings. A medium she finds challenging and yet ultimately rewarding in the final outcome. “I work from the heart, allowing the paint to take on a life of its own”. When Holznecht begins her creative process she does not have a direct path in mind. From experience, she knows the process in which she plans to paint, and the mediums she have chosen to use, and thus begins the journey. “I lay down my paint with many thoughts and prevalent emotions running through my head. These images help guide my brush or the tools I use to paint with. My emotional side envelopes me as I paint and those feelings are poured onto the canvas” states Stephanie Holznecht. www.scholznecht.com www.artandbeyondpublications.com • 7

In addition, he has participated in numerous group and a solo exhibitions across North America and in Europe. Jim has published four books containing images of his art including two novels. The latter part of 2013, Jim ventured into the single most experimental aspect of his professional career as an artist. This experiment consisted of incorporating actual wine into my paintings. What began as an experiment has morphed into a long term commitment to perfecting the use of wine in his art. In August of 2014, Jim thought it only appropriate that he take steps to enhance his knowledge and understanding about wine in general. Towards this end, he completed the requisite course to be certified as a

Wine Sommelier. One thing that Jim learned in his course is that every wine producing nation has ratings and designation requirements that govern how wine is labeled. In the United States, a minimum of seventy-five percent (75%) of one grape must be used in a wine in order for the wine to be considered a varietal. For example, if a wine is to be designated as a Cabernet Sauvignon, it must consist of seventy-five percent (75%) of Cabernet Sauvignon. In this spirit, Jim wanted to do a separate “In Vino Veritas” series of Wine Paintings that conformed to these specifications. Every one of the paintings in this series will be composed of at least seventy-five (75%) of a varietal grape and the remaining twenty-five percent (25%) may be other media such as sealants and varnish. However, the only color visible in this series of paintings is attributable solely to wine. Jim wants the wine to dominate the painting and make a statement even to the casual observer. www.jimlivelyart.com

Raquel Rub was born and raised in Lima, Peru in 1937. Her interest in art began as a young child. She studied Oil and Acrylic Painting at Brooklyn College, New York in 1956. Back in Lima, Peru, Raquel continued her studies in Pastel and Oil Painting at the Academy of Suarez Vertiz in 1957. She earned her degree in Interior Decoration at the Escuela de Decoración Interior de Miraflores in 1968. Relocating to Miami, Florida in 1975, Raquel continued to take art classes and workshops with Ilse Grinstein, Peter Rubino, Nilda Comas, Eugene Daub, Susan Luery, Paul Lucchesi, Judy Williams, Wayne Pelke, and currently Robin Katz amongst other artists. Raquel is an accomplished and prolific artist in oil painting with a remarkable sensibility and delightful color reminiscent of the great impressionist masters. Traveling to different parts of the world, Raquel always found the sculptures she encountered irresistible to touch. Her desire to understand the art of sculpting, prompted Raquel, along with her daughter Anabel, to pursue studies in stone sculpting with Salvatore Zagami. Through this medium her spontaneity, creativity and fascination with sculpting materialized piece after piece. “When I work with stone, I feel the inner essence that seeks to be revealed, it is as if ‘voices of the stone’ are guiding my hands.” Raquel earned her first award in 1967 for “Kindling Light” an oil painting exhibited in Lima, Peru. She then won an award for “Menorah” a bronze sculpture in 1972 in Lima, Peru. “Menorah” is part of the permanent collection of the Jewish Museum in Miami Beach, Florida. Raquel has earned numerous awards for her ceramic and alabaster sculptures and continues to showcase exhibitions in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in South Florida. Raquel is an overall humanitarian and a philanthropist. She is an active participant in the Jewish community. She served as president of Eshet Chayil Cultural Group in Peru from 1973-1974. Raquel was the president of Na’amat OR Chapter of Miami from 1983-2005. Since 2005 to the present day, Raquel serves as the Na’amat South Florida Regional President. The State of Israel Bonds honored Raquel as a “Woman of Valor” in 1993, and honored Raquel and her husband Dr. Moises Rub O.B.M. in 1999 with the ‘Celebration of Life’ award. The Jewish Museum, Miami Beach, Florida, chose Raquel and Dr. Moises Rub O.B.M. as part of Miami’s 2002 Distinguished Latin American Families exhibit, ‘El Viaje’. He has been painting for over 30 years. He uses different media in his paintings. For over ten years he has been using some computer programs to produce his works. His approach to art is abstract. He prefers abstractions. For him, abstraction develops the painter’s creativity and helps him produce works perceived differently by each spectator. Muzaffer Tunca (1950) tries to turn one dimensional images in his sketchbooks into a three dimensional ones using a touchable, sensible and breakable materials. By breakable he means changeable. Each dimension of his sculpture has a different shape and form. Why? Because nothing has one dimension including human beings. has studied audiovisual arts at the Willem de Kooning Academy in The Netherlands ( 1992-1995 ). Gottenkieny works with collage and mixed media. The random collage compositions appeal to the imagination and work well with the fragmentary manner in which she paints her 'stories' onto canvas. Her Zygo Metro series often remind people of the Berlin Wall. This wasn't really the artist's intention. Although she did mean for the wall to be a symbol of imprisonement. It was more or less inspired by her own isolation, due to a period of severe depression and anxiety. www.idiotix.net • xenia@idiotix.net www.artandbeyondpublications.com • 17

Clients have included Stanford University, The Presidio Trust, The City of San Jose, Yale University, and The Cathedral Church St. John the Divine. Many of his pieces show how distortions in form and texture can create a sense of movement in a stationary, three-dimensional object. They often incorporate the curved lines of circles or spirals together with straight lines, sometimes running parallel or seemingly perpendicular and other times flowing more organically together. Frequently, his sculptures portray opposites: convex with concave, straight with curved, dark with light, positive with negative space. I have a bachelors in Arts and Philosophy from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas. Moved to Coral Gables, Florida in 1979. Member of the National League of American Pen Women. I see the “light” in every leaf, flower, sea and person. These moments do not repeat themselves. How can I grasp them? It’s a wonderful gift to be able to share the emotion I feel through my paintings .I’m so thankful to be able to see and share this “beautiful” world. At this moment I’m discovering the “microworld” and trying to create an awareness and sensitivity to this world that is inside all of us. http://www.miami-fine-art-carol-p-kingsley.com • ckingsley.artist@hotmail.com (786) 399 9657 www.artandbeyondpublications.com • 19

Goodÿ - Gilles EUGENE I look for in the paint the means of an expression simplified to express the complexity of our existence. Using techniques according to what I have to express at the time of the creation, the subject is only the pretext for express the light, the contrasts, the fuzziness and all these games of the plasticity of the material which I tend to smooth on my canvas, as if to show that the material is only an appearance of the world which masks the depth of the troubles?

UNTITLED. Acrylic on Canvas, 80cm x 100cm.
Very often when viewers see my paintings they ask, “How did you do it?” But, I always let them guess because one of the purposes of my work is to encourage people to exercise their imagination, fantasy and ingenuity. When I create my “free spirit - nonfigurative art,” I feel completely free like a flying bird. There is no taboo of what colors I can choose or combine, or what technique to use. I apply whatever seems right at the moment or whatever new ideas are coming up in the moment of inspiration. I express myself and give my view of the world through color, color combinations and shapes. During the process of drying, acrylic colors may mix together or dry at different times. These factors sometimes create a picture slightly different than what I originally planned. This is why every piece of my artwork is unique, but they are united by the fact that they all came from my heart, love and soul.

DELIGHTFUL EVENING. Died Resin & Aluminium, 30” x 40”.
Nikki Gour The paintings that I create are made of glass, resin and often incorporate metal objects. Over the past 6 years I have been working with resin, for I enjoy its adhesive qualities, it’s transparency along with the fact that it selflevel’s itself and cures into a solid material. I have developed a process of coloring the resin and applying it to a canvas as my paint. www.nikkigour.ca
