Recently the New Zealand Herald celebrated its 150th Anniversary meaning at a rough count over 50 000 daily newspapers have been published. To commemorate this milestone the Herald commissioned artist Dick Frizzell to paint five original portraits of iconic New Zealanders. The chosen five are All Black captain Richie McCaw, Sir Edmund Hillary, Dame Whina Cooper, Kate Sheppard and Ernest Rutherford. These portraits adorned the cover of the Herald on November 13 and made for a dramatic cover and future collectable. In this catalogue A+O is proud to offer the original five portrait paintings by Dick Frizzell. All of the sale proceeds will be donated to the Starship National Air Ambulance service.
