ART+OBJECT is proud to present The Ron Sang Collection. Born in Fiji in 1938, Ron moved to Auckland in 1957 to study architecture at the University of Auckland. He is today widely regarded as one of the country’s most distinguished and unique architects and in 2001 was awarded the NZIA Enduring Architecture Award for the iconic Brian Brake House in Titirangi. In 2000 Ron was made an officer of the NZ Order of Merit for services to architecture and art. He began collecting in 1971 when he purchased his first piece of Len Castle pottery, largely at the behest of his friend, the sculptor Guy Ngan. His collection is notable for his board interests across the fields of applied art, fine art, print making, glass, sculpture and 20th Century Design, all of which co-exist seamlessly in the house which he lives with his wife Margaret in Epsom and which he designed specifically with housing the collection in mind.
