Fall Issue 2023 This edition is not only about luxury and art, it is also about the human capacity to effect change. Several leaders we met during the summer awakened a sense of compassion that I didn't know was emerging in Long Island. Our beautiful New York hails some of the best minds in medicine, and one individual along with his colleagues stands out, Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca, the CEO and Chairman of the board of the New York Cancer and Blood Specialists is a visionary in the treatment of cancer patients. His proactive stance on the treatment of these patients is making some progress and change in the cancer treatment field, by implementing necessary changes in the Healthcare system nationwide. The partnership of Art Bodega Magazine and the New York Cancer Foundation is a first experience for our publication, how do we deal with necessary healthcare needs in our community while raising funds for the amazing non-profit whose director is the incredible Tina Toulon. Since her role as the director of the New York Cancer Foundation, created by Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca, Toulon has seen a growth that has astounded everyone in the medical community. "We went from 7 oncologists in our private practice to 300 oncologists," stated Toulon with deep admiration for Dr. Vacirca. The photo shoot produced by the genius of celebrity photographer Nigel Barker made us reflect on the special people that raise funds, in this case Dr. Yelda Nouri, Board Member Bill Peragine's daughter
Rebeca Herrero Cailin Peragine, Real Estate member Karen Nelin, Banker Michael Serao, the Boys Founder, and many more..... for those who truly need it. "When our patients cannot pay the electrical bill or the rent, due to the emotional toll of receiving chemotherapy, we help them," said Toulon. The mission is fantastic, it's changing the world of cancer care and much more, setting a model for the entire nation. Our pages show the art of the amazing photography of Nigel Barker, inspired by these great individuals, all in a glamorous setting like the impressive Ziegfeld Ballroom. Art & Beauty collide in each page- Barker never ceases to amaze with his eye for art, photographing great individuals like Peter Thomas Roth, Carole Feuerman, Jane Scher, Taquiela Wright, Karla Farach, Stevie Guttman, Zach Erdem, younger entrepreneurs like Distortion Society founders Michelle and Brad and many more. What a journey this has been............beautiful people with beautiful souls to help others.

A NEW PHOTO SESSION AT THE ZIEGFELD BALLROOM TO BENEFIT THE NEW YORK CANCER FOUNDATION How do you feel about the foundation?
Not only is the New York Cancer and Blood Foundation an incredible resource to those in need, but filled with people who are genuinely passionate and proudly representing the foundation in its entirety. For those struggling and trying to maneuver through such a difficult time and negative mental/ physical space in their life, I am thankful that a foundation such as this can provide such amazing support. How long have you known about it?
My father has been on the board for some time. Fortunately, I have been able to hear about and see the work of this foundation through him. After just recently becoming a part of this foundation, I’m eager to contribute and support in any way possible.

How did you feel being photographed by Nigel Barker?
As a professional model, I usually never google the designer or photographer on set if I do not recognize the name because I have zero poker face. Obviously, I could not escape that in this scenario- and it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. To speak to one of the greatest, get advice, and even just talk casually about sports or funny photoshoot memories, I was equally as starstruck as I was and comfortable around Nigel. His work is breathtaking, as I’m sure we all can agree, but his personality is equally as amicable and outstanding. How would you describe the Ziegfeld?
100000000 chandeliers on my walk in, so….well lit? Joking! The Ziegfeld is nothing short of a beautiful space to explore different creative ideas and angles. Its size and design were able to produce so many different little scenes within one space, which really is one of the things, at least in my opinion, models keep to themselves. You would never know the secrets behind a good photo! What do you love about modeling?
Through my schooling, I have a tremendous amount of respect for the work that goes into building a company or brand. For designers, I admire their ability to bring their ideas to fruition, then have a photographer capture the essence of their hard work, and finally, have a model bring things to life. I have always loved exploring new ways of expressing creativity with each piece or photoshoot alongside those who had this vision in the first place. To me, the entire process leading up to modeling is something I truly love and am grateful

for the opportunities to join in on these projects. I also love being able to integrate my own creativity and personality into modeling, simply as a piece to a much larger puzzle, a puzzle that took endless passion and years to create. Where do you live?
I just moved back to New York City. Happy to be back after two years back on Long Island in my hometown. What are your hobbies?
I enjoy watching documentaries, reading, being with my dog, being surrounded by my family, taking walks on the beach, and exploring new places to eat! My passions in life revolve around how I can help others in any capacity. Have a bad day? Come join me on my next adventure! Describe how you are….what motivates you?
Most people would say talkative or loud, but I like to call it overly excited rambling. Filled with random fun facts, like a Snapple cap you did not buy. But alongside my outgoing, comedic shenanigans, I truly value hard work, and dedication. I try to exemplify those traits every day through my self-care and my work. I think it’s most important to be personable, respectful, and honest in life- whatever those words mean to you. To me, motivation comes from trying. The more you try, the more educated you’ll be, and the easier it will become for you to find what truly pushes you to be the best version of yourself.
“ THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF CREATIVITY LEADING UP TO
MODELING IS SOMETHING I TRULY ADMIRE IN THE FIRST PLACE”
If you would have been someone else who would have you chosen to be?
Now this one is tricky- as a 25-year-old living in Manhattan, I could easily say a supermodel or millionaire. But truthfully, I only know how to be myself. I wouldn’t know how to go about living in another’s shoes. I much rather learn from others than be them.
18

“YOU WOULD NEVER K NOW THE SECRETS BEHIND A GOOD PHOTO” Who are your heroes and why?
My go-to’s are my mom and dad, and they always will be. I was also blessed with an amazing extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles who all easily fall under this category. Describe your fashion style and your personality?
My personal style is minimalistic and very comfy. To me, that makes the moments where I do get pampered while modeling or dressing up for special occasions even that much more special, meaningful, and exciting. What challenges you?
My current job in Media Investment challenges me each workday, turning frustration into new skills and successes amongst a team of unbelievably bright and unique individuals. I also try to challenge myself each day in some way to move toward my personal goals and aspirations. No one can do it for you, you must do it for yourself!

Photography by Nigel Barker By Rebeca Herrero Styled by Jackie Fanara Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca, a remarkable individual who has reshaped oncology care across the nation, is the driving force behind New York Cancer & Blood Specialists, a network of over 30 clinics spanning Upstate New York, New York City, the five boroughs, and Long Island. These state-of-the-art facilities prioritize the holistic care of cancer patients, treating them with the utmost compassion and support. In an interview conducted from Long Island, Dr. Vacirca emphasized the organization's commitment to treating patients like family, maintaining an intimate and emotionally supportive connection during their challenging journey. Eighteen years ago, Dr. Vacirca and a group of colleagues established this private practice with just seven doctors. Today, this network boasts a team of 300 doctors available 24/7 for patients in need.
DR VACIRCA In his QUEST for a better world
24
Over the years, the organization has experienced substantial growth, earning national recognition within the healthcare community. Dr. Vacirca proudly stated, "We knew we could achieve success in an orderly and efficient manner. We observed large healthcare institutions struggling to meet the specific needs of patients. Sometimes, appointments take months, but we can provide appointments within 48 hours. We also understood chemotherapy's exhausting nature, so we strategically located our clinics within 20 minutes of cancer patients. Making the journey easier is essential, as the path to recovery is challenging. Additionally, we eliminated the rotation of doctors and staff, ensuring that patients maintain a one-on-one relationship with the same medical professionals, creating a sense of familiarity and comfort." Dr. Vacirca's educational journey, which took him from the State University of New York at Albany to St. George's University School of Medicine for medical school and a residency and fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, has paved the way for groundbreaking oncology care. "We have partnered with Memorial Sloan Kettering as there are some limitations when it comes to surgery – we do not perform surgeries, but we provide treatments, imaging, and much more to our patients. It is a great partnership. We have also just opened a new center in Flatbush, Brooklyn, in one of the most impoverished areas of New York. We want to provide services to everyone, no matter their financial situation," said Dr. Vacirca, with a relentless ambition to continue expanding the entity.

The New York Cancer Foundation emerged from the financial hardships faced by chemotherapy patients. Established a decade ago, the Foundation has witnessed rapid growth, led by Tina Toulon, Executive Director. Toulon shared, "The Foundation's sole purpose is to assist families struggling to afford utility bills and facing financial challenges due to their inability to work during treatment. We offer relief and support, and in the last decade, we have raised millions of dollars continuing on this path." The Foundation's 3rd Annual Raising Hope Gala, hosted at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan, holds immense significance for Dr. Vacirca. "Receiving a prestigious award from the American Red Cross in this very place adds an extra layer of special meaning," he said. Adding to the significance of the event, Ted Okon, a colleague of Dr. Vacirca who has been a vocal advocate for cancer care needs and controversial measures by the federal government, will also be honored at the gala. Okon's advocacy extends to issues like site neutrality and the need for reform regarding the 340B program, which has faced challenges with the involvement of for-profit pharmacy benefit managers. Dr. Vacirca emphasized their ongoing efforts in Congress, with Speaker McCarthy attentively listening to their concerns. Dr. Vacirca's journey to becoming an oncologist began as a lab technician. Initially an anthropologist, he later became a certified scuba diver. His encounter with a doctor who treated cancer patients in the lab ignited his passion for oncology. "I was captivated by the closeness and personal connection that emerged during this emotionally charged process. I knew I wanted to do the same. I will continue to advocate for cancer patients throughout my life, eventually passing the torch to a successor and dedicating myself full-time to shaping healthcare policy nationwide," said a doctor who has made a profound difference in the fight against cancer.

The handsome couple found love and marriage and are the sole gay owned matchmaking company that help straight singles, men and women find true love. “This was something that was very important to me, my mother instilled great values in me, I grew up with love and compassion and confidence. My husband has a similar background, we both fell in love and have so much gratitude towards life, we were often asked, how do you manage? This compelled us to start our own company and help straight couples find a similar destiny,” explained Julian Bannister, alongside his gorgeous husband Yannick. In regard to Yannick Jules-Bannister, the young man had a thirteen year career in the Medical Esthetic and Spa Industry beginning as a massage therapist and medical esthetician/laser technician. AB: Is your personal style reflected in your work? AD: Laughing: I think there’s this duality to my design
personality. I love a clean, sophisticated, modern and monochromatic aesthetic in many ways. It stills my mind. This is the concept for my California home in design development. My home here is an older Spanish style house on a beautiful horse property. I’ve filled it with items I’ve collected throughout my travels, historical rustic elements, reclaimed wood floors, hand painted Mexican tiles, vintage Saltillo tile and warm earthen finishes. I feel as though my personal taste is reflected in my work just in that I am drawn to beautiful luxurious pieces. I love interesting textures, unique materials, and hand hewn finishes. Much of what I have created for myself is bespoke, or custom. In that regard, my style is definitely reflected in my work. AB: Who is your typical or favorite type of client? AD: My typical client wants something no one else has,
something unique and special. They appreciate superb quality and a high level of attention to detail. Clients have told me they’re grateful for my collaborative approach and that I really listen to their needs. I also strive to create anything they can imagine. It’s one of my favorite things to do.
Aly Daly
INTERIOR DESIGNER
Interior Designer Aly Daly’s work has graced the pages of Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Harpers Bazaar, and many more publications worldwide featuring her design work of luxury estates of celebrities and business moguls. After building her business over the span of twenty years in New York City and Los Angeles, she has now made Palm Beach her home. We sat down recently to discuss what’s new on her horizons and explore why she made the move to South Florida. AB: What do you find your greatest source of inspiration? AD: Honestly, I find inspiration everywhere. I’ve had the opportunity to travel extensively
sourcing furnishings and manufacturers. The different cultures, colors and senses that are stimulated through those experiences inspire a great deal of my work. Art, culture, people, history, food; all of it inspires me. Having said that, though, I feel like in my work, I let the home or space speak to me, it somewhat leads my imagination in a direction. I respect the architecture of a home or space and accentuate the best of it. If I’m working on a residential project the owner and their family of course inspire me a great deal as well. AB: Why the move to South Florida? AD: I love California and still have projects and partners we work with there. Living in
40
California, we truly embrace indoor /outdoor living; the design sensibility, the simple clean coastal aesthetic that creates a peacefulness and serene environment; I wanted to bring more of that aesthetic to clients in South Florida. I previously designed a residence on Fisher Island in Miami for Max Azria and realized there was a need for more sophisticated design options for clients in the region. The lockdowns in the California during Covid prompted so many people to move to the south, I felt it was the right time to expand my business to be bi-coastal to accommodate my clientele. The ocean here is much warmer and beautiful too. AB: What exciting projects are you currently working on? AD: IN addition to the residential projects that I’ve been
working on throughout southern Florida, I’ve been working with partners on the development of an exclusive resort in the Caribbean which is very exciting. There are many aspects of the project I’m passionate about; the historical restoration of a grand abandoned estate and outbuildings, the design and development of several restaurants, a spa, marina and more. I can’t wait to be able to share this with the world. In addition to that, I’ve recently launched a division of my company with several artisans around the globe. I’m thrilled to be able to now of-

SCHER
THE BEAUX-ARTS LADY IN BEAUTY & THE ARTS
Photographed by Nigel Barker Make Up and Hair by Jackie Fanara. Styling by Rebeca Herrero The Beauty specialist in Manhattan has a flair for all things elegant and posh. Jane Scher is one of those Manhattanites that doesn’t shy away from the camera flashes that go off in a red carpet, hails a cab in glamourous Louboutin and Dolce & Gabbana on a daily basis, and looks like a sensational 70-year-old, sexy brunette, with fit frame and sexy clothes to die for. Her smile shines at all times while carrying her tiny maltese, “Botox”, the name she chose for her puppy emblematic of the lifestyle of a beautician in the aesthetic industry surrounded by injections, lasers, and the latest technology in non-invasive procedures to make you look flawless.
42
Her 40 years of experience is a testament to her talent as a professional with an artistic eye that surpasses expectations. In 1984, Scher became a registered nurse and started a longstanding career in the practice, being a resident of the city while simultaneously establishing the American Plastic Surgery Center in New Jersey with her then husband, plastic surgeon Charles Scher. He was the son of the pioneer plastic surgeon Dr. Samuel Scher, one of the first nasal plastic surgeons in New York City. Based on this history, the career of New York City based Scher reinforces the fact that she is one of the top registered nurses specializing in cosmetic surgery with some of the most famous names in the business.
Some of them include Dr. Matarasso, Dr. Sheryl Aston, Dr. Daniel Baker, Dr. Norman Rowe and many more. “My greatest inspiration has been my father-in-law Dr. Samuel Scher because he was a man of beauty, and he loved the arts. As a young girl he exposed me to the arts. Also being the cousin of famous artist Peter Max and knowing personally at a very young age Andy Warhol, exposed me to the fields of arts and aesthetics which go hand in hand, because you train your eye for beauty. Not everybody knows how to make someone beautiful. I was also acting at the time and participated in many television commercials. He brought me to this world because I was fascinated by his patients who were famous actors
and actresses. My life involved entertainment, beautiful people, famous celebrities, glamourous artists. This resulted in my next chapter as an actress. I also joined the SAG and became part of the early pioneers of television, the stage, and was occasionally an opening act for major musicians. At the time, I wanted to become the first white female rapper due to my talent. Life took another path, but I still entertain the idea.” After her divorce and with limited income, Scher raised her two young daughters. “I realized how grateful I was that I had an education as a nurse. Having left a very lavished lifestyle, and almost starting from zero, I had to reinvent myself. I started working with top plastic surgeons and left behind the entertainment. During these years, I crafted my skills in the beauty world, and I launched my own skincare line which I sell to all my clients, SKINCARE by Nurse Jane,” recounts the New York based registered nurse. “Because I respected my health and I belong to the healthcare business, I have great respect for the health of everyone that comes across me and because I know the physiology of people, I advise them always how to stay healthy. My motto is always getting a good night sleep, eat well, exercise every day, practice yoga and take your vitamins.” During the photo shoot, the brunette explained her passion for all things beautiful and luxurious. No wonder she carries her little puppy with her everywhere she goes. Be it at a nightclub, a great New York restaurant, or simply having tea in the afternoon, Scher has become a fixture of society for all to enjoy. “I do want to become a rapper. It’s in my blood, I love entertaining and it’s never too late to resume your dreams in life. I am onto the next chapter. I feel energetic, gracious, and happy for all my friends and clients. Also, for the New York Cancer Foundation. It’s such an honor to celebrate such an important Gala, to raise funds for the cancer victims. This is a must for all New Yorkers in the best city in the world: New York City.” For more information go to: www.skintightmedspa.com or call 917-341-6960

THE Ritz-Carlton Food & Luxury Collide in this new hotel in New York By Rebeca Herrero

Bastian Germer, General Manager of the property, has been in the hospitality industry for a very long time and has evolved as a luxury expert as well. Hailing from Hamburg, his experience in the evolution of this property has made him a proud member of the group. Germer explores the streets north of Madison Square Park in New York City with utmost care. He likes to wake up early in the morning and walk to work, watching the stylish New Yorkers and tourists pack the sidewalk cafes that remind him of Europe. “The owners started planning this project back in 2012. Dayssi and her group had a vision, that things were shifting south. Little by little they purchased the lots and made this plan happen which is currently open for the enjoyment of high-end customers who only want the best.”
A
n area of resurgence where cabarets and theaters used to co-exist in the vortex of culture and fashion, NoMad has evolved as the latest hot spot in the city that never sleeps. Here a jewel of architecture stands out, The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, a majestic tower designed by Rafael Vinoly after an almost decade long process spearheaded by prominent New Yorker and the Flag Luxury Group owner Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos. “From the moment we took the Marriot management to explore the area, which at the time they thought was unconceivable to achieve such a task, to the present time we are living in, the area has changed so much,” explained Olarte de Kanavos. “Atop the building, we tried this rooftop bar that looks like a glass box, each area has its own ambiance and feel thanks to the top designers we chose. We just wanted to create a new experience where each room has a feel that will last for a lifetime.” 48
Merger also mentions with joy the inspiration he feels regarding the neighborhood. The area that surrounds the hotel is also known as Tin Pan Alley. The history of this famous name dates back to 1885 when music publishers set up shop in the same district. It’s seen several transformations through the decades. Some historians claim sheet music was replaced by the phonograph, radio and motion pictures. Vaudeville and Broadway performers like Irving Berlin, Ira Gershwin, and Theodora Morse lived and produced music here. The creation of the term was slang for decrepit piano back in 1882, but eerily enough there is nothing decrepit about the newly developed area. Through its chapters in time, the opening of The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad is adding a ritzy feel to the bohemian and congested area. Beautiful new restaurants have opened near the property…. Madison Square Park is nearby, and ironically enough famous chefs have replaced the songwriters of that era. “In modern times, the customer wants good food, in a beautifully decorated location. The Instagram friendly ambiance brings spots of fun, relaxation, a variety in this labyrinth-oriented construction, where different floors hold surprises. Our main goal was to create an atmosphere that would last a lifetime. We did,” concluded Olarte de Kanavos with plans to expand in other cities around the country. artbodegamagazine.com 49

Dr. Yelda Nouri How do you feel about the foundation?
The move to create the foundation, and the foundation itself is so near and dear to my heart. The foundation can provide patients who are receiving cancer treatments to be able to take care of their basic daily needs and pay for bills and services. It would otherwise be unattainable. The foundation allows patients to receive their treatments with peace of mind, knowing that they can take care of their families and their basic needs.
How did you feel being photographed by Nigel Barker that day?
My photo shoot with Nigel Barker was very exciting, but also very intimidating. As a medical oncologist, I am not used to having my picture taken, and to have my pictures taken by a world-renowned fashion photographer was stressful but very gratifying. Nigel was extremely professional and was able to allow me to relax enough so that I was able to take fantastic pictures that I will cherish for a lifetime.
What do you love about what you do?
Being a physician, and specifically a breast oncologist, I love being able to help people daily. Often my patients become like my family, and I can take care of them for many years. I can watch them grow, succeed, thrive, and accomplish things in their life that cancer would have taken away from them. I am so very proud of what I do, and I am so very proud of my patients and their strength. Where do you live?
How long have you been a part of it?
How would you describe the Ziegfeld?
I have known about the foundation since its inception several years ago, and I’ve had the honor of being able to participate in various events showcasing the foundation’s efforts.
The Ziegfield ballroom is such a beautiful and historical New York City venue. Being at the Ziegfield ballroom, I was entranced by the art deco design that brought back memories of an era gone by.
54
I live on Long Island in a town called Oyster Bay, which is a small suburb outside of New York City. I have a wonderful home with a big backyard where my daughter can enjoy plenty of time outdoors. My home is my safe space, and I am able to decompress here when I return back for a busy day in the office.

“I WANT TO BE a role model FOR MY DAUGHTER
Who are your heroes and why?
My heroes are hands-down, all my patients who come into the office and fight cancer bravely, and with courage and spirit. There is no one more heroic than the women and men I treat who bravely put their trust in me.
White outfit by KZ_K Studio
Describe your fashion style and your personality?
What motivates you?
If I were to describe myself, I would say that I am very dedicated, committed, organized, and often very hard on myself. I am a perfectionist and often find myself reaching for goals that may not be immediately attainable. However, I find this to be a huge driving force in my life. If you had been someone else who would have you chosen to be?
I have never wished to be someone else however, if I were to be someone else, I would love to be a physician at the turn of the century when things like antibiotics were new and innovative, and when we did not have the ability to provide patients with a cutting-edge technology that we can offer now. Back then medicine was solely reliant on the physical examination and skill of the doctor. Medicine is a masterful craft. On a less serious note, I wouldn’t mind being Victoria Beckham because she is timeless, ageless, and has a very handsome husband (but so do I). 56
Unreal I love fashion and I love clothes. I find it to be a wonderful and creative outlet especially when I am out of work. I love all different brands, and I love bright colors. I typically wear clothes that reflect my personality so if I’m feeling spunky or vibrant, then this will be reflected by my chosen attire. I like having staple pieces in my closet and feel that everyone woman should have a few expensive pieces that they will cherish and hopefully pass on to their children. What is your goal?
My goals in life, like many other people, are to live a happy healthy and fulfilled life. I want to make a difference and I want my daughter to be able to look at me and say I am so proud of my mommy, and I am so proud of what she did in her life. I don’t need to be famous, but I need to know that I made a difference in someone’s life, and that I inspired my daughter to hopefully do the same. Being a mother is a huge driving force in my career, and it is a huge inspiration for me, and always will be. People often ask and say, do you think being a doctor is the best accomplishment in your life and I tell them, no, being a mother is by far the best thing I have ever done in my life, and I am so honored that God gave me the ability to do so. artbodegamagazine.com

Karen Nelin is a great New York Cancer Foundation supporter. She has been volunteering for the non-profit for five years. “The idea that I can help relieve financial stress for patients with a cancer diagnosis does more for me than it does for them. The feeling is immeasurable,” said the realtor who also participated in the special photo session with Nigel Barker at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. “I love art, design, fashion, travel and all that has to do with the culinary/mixology scene. Doing this session with famous photographer Nigel Barker was such a memorable day. I had never been photographed this way before, he was so patient and kind, he made me feel very comfortable. My dream would be to experience this again one day. I hope I will not be that nervous the next time,” reflected the blonde beauty while wearing high fashion and feeling like a supermodel.

BARBIE WORLD Her style is relaxed but sexy, and she did the contribution to help the cancer victims. “For me being photographed at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, reminiscing of the art deco era, was so exciting. It truly transports you to that time. Timeless beautiful, like being in an old era of Hollywood stars and fabulous decor. It can’t get better than that….” Her 14 years working as a realtor in Long Island has been a great experience for this mother of four children. “I love my family – my husband Ricky and my children, my family is my rock. My husband and I have been together for 30 years. You can imagine how I feel about my life, I feel fulfilled, happy, I enjoy every minute of it.”

Since Taquiela was a young girl, her ambition was to become a performer. On her path to dreaming about stardom, with those big bright eyes that any little girl can have during their enchanting upbringing, and after many twists and turns, Wright ended up at Caterpillar, the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel, and natural gas engines. Here she would show prowess thanks to her brilliant mind in operating and managing difficult tasks, forging her career in a totally opposite direction. “I wanted to be an actress, but my family wanted me to go to college, have a degree, make money, be a fully functional individual with a full-time job. I was so good at it that the construction company sent me to school again, to become an engineer in the construction and environmental field,” said Wright, from her home in Dallas, Texas. The young woman developed a great career, but always had dreams of being in the social scene, she was always fashionable, loved music, loved the arts, and never forgot her inclination to acting. “I’ve had a great career, developed skills in the gas, oil drilling and aerospace industry. There is a part of me that believes this training enabled me to understand the world of textile and materials and how they function in the real world,” explained the beauty who now lives in Texas, hailing originally from Illinois. “During the pandemic, I had plenty of time to rethink my life as an adult. I started experimenting with the design of robes, and the design of lingerie. I wanted to model sexy lingerie for my husband. Understanding that I was able to create this, I turned my life around. Left my full-time job as an engineer, and started my own line Delisa Rose,” affirmed with confidence the clothing entrepreneur. “Fashion has now become my dream. I am now a full-time owner of this company, I’ve hired illustrators that helped recreate the lingerie designs of my creation, it has taken off in a big way,” added Wright. Her website works as an equivalent of Victoria’s Secret for the younger generations, with curvaceous models that love to showcase their sexy bodies carrying very ornamental designs with bows and lace that Wright conceives. These delicate pieces are innovative, sexy, and just pure luxury for the women that want to have an individual lingerie experience. During the session with photographer Nigel Barker, Wright modeled her own pieces. “They have colorful designs, they are sexy and there is nothing shy about the pieces,” explained the young lingerie designer. Her dreams of expansion and having a brick-and-mortar location are on the horizon. “This is what I want to develop, and all my attention and focus is on this company.”

The son of Hungarian immigrants, Thomas Roth is a very successful entrepreneur who loves his easy lifestyle surrounded by great friends, two sons and is also an avid art collector. Stevie Guttman NIGHTLIFE GURU IN NEW YORK CITY
Photography by Nigel Barker By Rebeca Herrero
Just a few years ago, the well-known Civilian Hotel in Manhattan was just a parking lot. Fast forward, you can spot nightlife impresario Stevie Guttman at the Starchild Rooftop, named the top rooftop bar in New York City by Esquire Magazine located atop the hotel. The 27-story venue is a rare treasure of cool architecture and interior design by the mega star design impresario David Rockwell, who designed the Rosevale Restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel as well, currently making it one of the top spots in Manhattan. At the Starchild Rooftop, not only do you get great views of the city, but the vibe is also pure party and great music and DJ’s thanks to the stylish Guttman, who is the Director of Nightlife and Hospitality Culture for the Carver Road Hospitality Group in New York City. The umbrella company also owns restaurants like the Carver Steak at Resort World Las Vegas, and the Rosevale Kitchen also at the Civilian Hotel. With these additions, the nightlife and culinary scene has taken a superb twist in the history of nightlife in the city that never sleeps and around the country.

The CEO of Carver Hospitality Group, Sean Christie hired Guttman to make sure the place stays cool, as you can always find the young music aficionado entertaining the young and stylish crowds that visit the Starchild Rooftop. During the photo session with famous photographer Nigel Barker, Guttman styled himself with some of the coolest fashion you can find. His hat, signature cool glasses and thin frame encompasses a unique sense of cool that translates to the entire environment of the place. His Instagram post showcases some great playlists with a cool relaxing vibe, that can become fun and energetic in an instant.
“ WE WANTED TO KEEP A COOL VIBE THROUGHOUT THE SPACE”
“Of course, music is what makes the place so much fun. We want to maintain a cool vibe throughout the space, making it a relaxed atmosphere that everyone can enjoy, be it if you want to dance, or just simply have a romantic date atop the Civilian Hotel,” expressed Guttman, a multi-faceted man about town who loves to dabble in the music and television world. His persona is unique, charismatic, and continues to enthrall tastemakers of the culinary and nightlife scene.

AUTHOR & PHILANTHROPIST
Farach How do you feel about the New York Cancer foundation?
Tell me about your own philanthropy goals?
The innate desire to give a helping hand to those in need. Understanding the hardships and financial strains that such a situation brings to the person and the family, the New York Cancer Foundation provides assistance and financial support to cater crucial help to patients in the New York and New Jersey area. Their help is really transferred to the whole family of the patient because it helps them with the financial constraint that this disease can bring. Emotionally it is devastating and financially as well, so helping them is an honor. The organization that provides essential care and the emotional support required through such a difficult time is so necessary.
My mother always says a famous phrase in Spanish that translates to English: “"he who is not useful in serving is not useful in living" . This is a proverbial expression suggesting that a person's value is in their ability to help or serve others. This feeling is what fuels philanthropy, which shouldn’t be confused with charity. Philanthropy differs from charity in that while charity focuses on alleviating immediate suffering or meeting an individual's basic needs, philanthropy aims at addressing the causes of societal issues and make a change that will last, a change with a long-term vision. Both are necessary, any way we can extend a helping hand to the other is important and valuable. It doesn’t have to be only by

donating money it can be by volunteering. After the experience of Covid, our hearts were deeply touched and exposed to the reality of our own vulnerability. This feeling makes people more humble, more humane, more real. This new feeling of vulnerability made people more emphatic and appreciative which at the same time increased the amount of philanthropy and charity work around the world, it really turned on something in all of us, hence ""every cloud has a silver lining." How do you feel about New York City?
Everything about New York is fast. My image of New York is one of unwavering pace. It is relentless, it never stops, is a fast train. An exciting city with exciting people and places, where imagination and creativity is bustling everywhere. The image in my mind of New York is of a fast car without a driver and you are in the back trying to enjoy your coffee. What are you passionate about?
Passion is a very strong and intense feeling. I find that passions can change with time and circumstances. Why do they change? Because we change. We are not the same person we were one hour ago, one month ago, one year ago or 10 years ago, therefore our passions will change as well. But the reality is that there are some passions that sometimes stay that are more permanent and might just change shades. I have always had a passion for health and wellness. Finding solutions, and finding the not too obvious solutions, using the power of nature to find health and wellbeing. This passion took me to write a book for children called “The Adventures of Veggieman”. I wanted to give children that superpower we all have and we can all use, which is the power of choice. I want kids to use their power of choice to choose the foods that will make them healthy and strong instead of the food junk that will be more detrimental than good. Loving yourself means choosing well. Headpiece by Robin Cofer
MY PASSION TOOK ME TO WRITE A BOOK, “THE ADVENTURES OF VEGGIEMAN”
How is your current life?
We used to live in New York City but we moved to Greenwich, Connecticut for a more peaceful life. This is definitely a quieter lifestyle than New York City. Who are your heroes?
My parents are my heroes. Describe your fashion style and your personality?
This is a question that I would like to hear someone else describe it for me! I would say that my fashion style is practical and elegant, relaxed. I tend to be fashionably simple. In terms of my personality, I think better if you ask someone that knows me! What is your goal?
Right now my goal is my family, my children’s wellbeing. What challenges you?

Contemporary art and body art traditionally exist in two separate spheres of culture and seldom present together in a gallery setting. However, at Distortion Society, a combined art gallery and tattoo studio, the two disciplines coexist with the same level of recognition. Located in the artsy city of Beacon, NY, Distortion Society was founded in early 2023 by husband-and-wife Bradley Silver (a tattoo artist) and Michelle Silver (a painter). “The name Distortion Society was born with multiple meanings: we distort the body by tattooing, the mind with contemplative art, but in a larger sense, we are distorting people’s perceptions of what an art gallery and tattoo studio can be,” says co-owner Bradley Silver. “We’re actively blurring the lines between body art and fine art.”

Throughout his career, Bradley Silver has developed a unique voice in avant-garde blackwork tattooing. His style cohesively blends abstract texture, geometric elements, and recognizable objects, referencing art history, graffiti, iconography, pop culture, and ornamental patterns. Bradley’s work, which more closely resembles collage, abstract painting, and fine art than traditional tattooing, has gained significant popularity and garnered recognition for its uncommon qualities. During his time at White Rabbit Tattoo studio, he won first place in the “Most Unusual 2020” category at the prominent Villain Arts Tattoo Convention in Philadelphia. Later that year, Bradley was accepted to join Inked NYC, a new studio started by the world’s premier tattoo media outlet Inked Magazine, as part of their opening staff. Now, as founder of his own tattoo studio, Bradley can take his vision to the next level with the help of his wife and creative business partner, Michelle. Michelle Silver, whose background is in painting and graphic design, manages the gallery portion of the business as Distortion Society’s Gallery Director + Curator. She brings well-rounded artistic insight to the business. “My design career and painting career showcase different parts of my creative identity, but these experiences enable me to approach the business both through a client relations mindset and through the lens of the studio artist,” says Michelle. Her vast experience in design – working with clients such as Live Nation, Padma Lakshmi, Jim Kempner Fine Art, and Surface Design Association – has been instrumental in creating Distortion Society’s visual identity. “We’ve approached every aspect of the business with meticulous detail and the result is a very contemporary, design-focused environment.” As an award-winning painter, Michelle is experienced in realism and figurative painting. Her current focus is on abstraction, creating what she calls “emotional landscapes” which blend figurative elements, dreamy scenery, and bold swaths of color.

ANGELS FOR HUMANITY
Lighting the Path to a Brighter Future By Marile Lopez
During crises, Angels for Humanity does not waver. Our Crisis Intervention program provides essential items, from food and clothing to basic necessities. Our ongoing feeding program in Haiti is a testament to our commitment, ensuring children receive wholesome meals at school.
As a volunteer, I have witnessed firsthand the remarkable transformation this organization has brought about. When one sees the ever-widening disparity in the world, it's easy to ask, "What difference can I make?" But here, I've seen that with passion, perseverance, and teamwork, we can indeed be the change we wish to see.

Our yearly programs are testimonies to our commitment. The Medical/Dental Mission exemplifies the adage – to the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world. Venturing to foreign lands, we've provided essential medical care, dental aid, and dispensed necessary prescriptions. Our annual Back-to-School Health Fair is a festival of hope. A day where children get not just medical and dental screenings but also haircuts, braiding, arts, crafts, and games. But, above all, they leave with backpacks filled with school supplies, symbolic of the weight of education lifting them, not weighing them down.
In the heart of the sprawling, bustling streets of Miami, in the year 2006, a spark of compassion was ignited. The brainchild of Judith Joseph, what began as a modest endeavor to distribute toys to children of Haitian descent soon took on wings of its own. That ember of kindness and goodwill grew into what is known today as Angels for Humanity.
The shift of the event to Haiti, after its early years, was both a challenge and an affirmation. The need was greater, the resources scarcer, but the hearts willing to help were plenty. While originally named 'Breakfast with Santa', the organization expanded its horizon in 2019, rebranding to Angels for Humanity – an
The mission is simple yet profound: empower, inspire, and lend unwavering support to the underprivileged children in Miami’s, Little Haiti, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and other developing nations. To envision a world where every child, irrespective of their circumstances, is armed with education, healthcare, and the unwavering belief that they can shape their destiny.
The Joy of Giving, aptly named, is the spirit of the holiday season in action. Whether it's providing Thanksgiving meals in Miami, donating toys during Christmas, or contributing to children's cancer hospitals and schools in Haiti, the joy is palpable. And as we stand on the brink of a new dawn, with plans to build the Angels for Humanity Academy in Cap-Hatien, Haiti, the future shines brightly.
But numbers only tell part of our story. While we've impacted over 85,000 children internationally and 11,000 in Miami, every single child has a unique story of resilience and hope. This journey wouldn't have been possible without our steadfast team. From our Board of Directors to our Executive and Advisory Boards, every individual, every donor, sponsor, and volunteer is an angel in their own right. I am filled with immense gratitude as our family is recognized with “Philanthropists of the Year” Award at the 9th Annual "Catwalk for Charity". I'm reminded of a simple truth. The real reward is the sparkle in a child's eye, the curve of their smile, and the unshakable faith that humanity is kind. The "Catwalk for Charity" event, aptly described as "Where Fashion meets Philanthropy," promises an unforgettable experience. This grand evening will feature the renowned Parisian fashion house, Balmain, which will proudly showcase its latest collection in a premiere Miami runway show. Set against the iconic backdrop of the Miami skyline at the prestigious PAMM, the meticulously planned event led by board member Dr. Tatiana Teo with the unwavering support of the committee members. Angels among us also include Regina Lynch-Moskow, who will be recognized for her commitment to this cause with the “Angel of Compassion” Award. Catwalk for Charity is gracefully and elegantly presented by Miami's influential mother-daughter duo, Tatiana Guiribitey & Dr. Camila Guiribitey-as they both receive the “Distinguished Humanitarian” Award. Our beloved and generous hostess will once again demonstrate that philanthropy is defined by an unwavering support, dedication, and affection to every child no matter their circumstances with the hopes of a brighter future. artbodegamagazine.com 89

a flair for LUXURY Delray resident TATSIANA TOBINA enchants her customers with great taste. Photography by Sheri Mazariegos
To many, the job of a Florida realtor consists of finding houses for those prospects who desire to move to the Sunshine State, but in Tatsiana Tobina’s case, the task of fulfilling the lifelong dreams of families and businesspeople and finding an ideal Home, is beyond anyone’s expectations. Tobina combines her knowledge of developing houses with great luxury finishes and efficiency. “I want to get the best for my customers. Understanding each client’s needs and wants takes time and research. Anyone can sell a home, but being a real estate matchmaker requires a strong level of commitment to my clients and knowledge of the market. It’s in my DNA”.
Tobina hails from Belarus and now is a citizen of the United States. Her search for the American Dream has made her a fortunate individual whose deep appreciation for living in such a great country empowers her to achieve amazing things. One of her personal projects which was featured in the HOUSE magazine May/June 2017 issue symbolizes her love for interior design. Just looking at the chandeliers that dangle with precise positioning, the great lighting environment, textured wallpaper plus the finishing touches of the painted walls blended effortlessly with the environment of a truly exquisite property. She pays great attention to choosing the right colors to bring a deeper connection to a living space and make it HOME. It is by no chance that Tobiana sold her remodeled townhome in Astoria, New York for a whopping 1,925,000 dollars, the highest on record for that area. “I learned customer service from my early years as an immigrant, working hard in the restaurant businesses every single day. I married a businessperson who enabled me to become a partner and develop this new business in my career as a developer,” explained the young beauty who also happens to do weightlifting every day. Challenging times occurred during the pandemic, making Tobina reflect on the lives of her young children. “I did not want that chaos. I wanted a better education and future for my kids. Picking the right place is always hard, but Delray Beach “Village

by The Sea” had something special for me. It reminded me of my small town where I grew up in Belarus. It felt like I belong here.” The promise of Delray as one of the top places increases by the day. Beloved by locals and visitors, our enchanting Village by the Sea offers a two-mile stretch of pristine family-friendly beach that is steps away from the eclectic restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, bars and restaurants that line Atlantic Avenue.

As a realtor, Tobina shows homes on a daily basis. She listens to her clients and pays attention to their needs. Whatever it takes, my discipline of waking up at 4:00 am every day, exercising, spending time with my dogs and the kids, taking care of my lifestyle has defined my daily routine. It created an environment of wellness that transpires in my daily chores, including my work. And it would not be a surprise that her other passion is health, that is why she became a Practice Development Specialist with Evexias Health Solution. Educating and helping people to understand the viral role of hormone therapy in managing disease. Evexias Health Solution is an emerging leader in the advancement of medicine toward a preventive care model that positively impacts patient lives while also allowing practitioners to grow their practice. artbodegamagazine.com 91
Maureen Shea is a
BOXING CHAMPION with STYLE By Rebeca Herrero Photography by Sheri Mazariegos Delray
Maureen Shea is a two time world champion boxer who began boxing as an escape from emotional struggles and an abusive relationship at 17 years old. Back then, the attractive brunette whose Mexican and Irish heritage can be noticed in her features, lived in the Bronx with her parents. “My mother is Mexican, and my dad is Irish. I always felt different but embraced my cultures. My mom worked for the airlines which allowed me to travel to Mexico to study Spanish and be with family. At the time, growing up in the Bronx you had mostly Dominicans and Puerto Ricans, not many Mexicans for me to connect with”, explained Shea from the comfort of her home in Delray Beach, Florida. This former world champion boxer has an impressive record of 31-2 13 KO, and she is currently ranked number one in the world. “Throughout my life I struggled with depression and developed anorexia and compulsive eating as a form of self-harm due to my condition. When I was 17 years old, I found myself in an abusive relationship. I went to a gym to better myself due to an abusive partner. I walked into the back of the gym and there was a boxing ring. I met a coach by the name of Willie Soto, he asked me if I wanted to train, I said yes. I didn’t know anything about boxing, but I fell in love with it. It was a form of release from all my inner demons I had been fighting all my life,” explained Shea. “I never dreamt of being a world champion, I just showed up every day to be better,” added the beauty who is now in her 40’s, feeling like she is in the best shape of her life.

In the past, Shea also assisted the actress Hillary Swank in preparation for her Oscar award winning role in Million Dollar Baby. “When the movie came out, I was thrust into a spotlight. Hillary studied me for the character of Maggie, as I was a young boxer trying to make it in a male dominated sport. Hilary dedicated herself to the role and was very down to earth, we worked together for six months. One thing that Hilary and I have in common is we are both very dedicated to our craft.,” confessed Shea who now lives, trains, and works full time in Delray Beach, Florida. “The world of female boxing has changed quite a bit from when I started. Back then you had to hide your femininity, which was very hard for me. Now, things have changed. Women are finding that they can be boxers and be celebrated for being feminine. It’s gone a bit overboard now in my opinion, not that I have anything against it, it’s just that it is much different back when I began. The great thing about my own experience is I developed resilience. I began boxing during a time when women were overlooked. My resilience made me stronger in ways I never imagined. I feel like I am at the best moment of my life and looking to become a third time world champion.” Recently Shea fought in the Dominican Republic against Grecia Novas Mateo. Of course, Shea won. Her determination is still in her eyes whenever she speak about her sport. “I turned pro in 2005. I only had 12 amateur fights before turning professional. I do feel my moment is now, my experience is there, the history that I’ve been a part of is heading in an upward direction, I am in the best shape of my life, mentally physically and spiritually.” artbodegamagazine.com 93
