Here he explains what makes the sport of Polo great and describes what is in the future for all things to come and his family’s legacy. We also enjoy immensely photographing jumper Kathleen Gannon, who organized the Triathlon event for Neil Hirsch at Deeridge Farm. The event was a total success and it benefited Neil’s non-profit The Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County. We photographed Kathleen with Michelle Rodriguez, Ambassador for Just World and Daniel Oberti, owner of the Oberti brand. The location was Blackwatch Farm and it couldn’t have been more beautiful and perfect.

A letter from the Editor

Wellington is a magical place. Not only is it considered the Capital of the Equestrian World, it’s also a place where families enjoy jumping, dressage and polo, in a unique way. The family of Marc and Melissa Grant, considered polo’s first couple in the country, have done more for the Sport of Kings, Polo, like no one else.

The photos were taken by our own Phillipa Davin, who is an amazing artist and Wellington’s foremost photographer. Also Matt Johnson’s photos were to die for. Spectacular pictures while riding his horse Qasanova. The dressage rider and top broker for Wellington are always a pleasure to work with, knowing that this man is considered the top quality realtor in this town. More exquisite articles and items that we always love to showcase. Special thanks to Melissa Ganzi

Pierre Cardin

F

uture Fashion was the first New York retrospective in forty years to focus on the legendary couturier. Drawn primarily from Pierre Cardin’s archive, the exhibition traversed the designer’s decadeslong career at the forefront of fashion invention. Known today for his bold, futuristic looks of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, Cardin extended his design concepts from fashion to furniture, industrial design, and beyond.

2|artbode gama gazine.com

The exhibition presented over 170 objects drawn from his atelier and archive, including historical and contemporary haute couture, prêt-à-porter, trademark accessories, “couture” furniture, lighting, fashion sketches, personal photographs, and excerpts from television, documentaries, and feature films. The objects were displayed in an immersive environment inspired by Cardin’s unique atelier designs, showrooms, and homes.

Highlights of Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion included rare designs in luxury fabrics from the 1950s; a large grouping from the landmark 1964 “Cosmocorps” collection, which sought to streamline menswear by eliminating excessive detailing; creations that incorporated vinyls, plastics, and the selfnamed Cardine synthetic fabric; signature unisex ensembles featuring full knit bodysuits with layered skirts, vests, bibs, and jewelry; iconic broad-shouldered jackets from the

1980s based on Japanese origami, Chinese architecture, and American football uniforms; “illuminated” jumpsuits and dresses; recent couture eveningwear; and an extensive overview of Cardin’s recently designed couture menswear. Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion was curated and designed by Matthew Yokobosky, Senior Curator of Fashion and Material Culture, Brooklyn Museum.

Will Burrard-Lucas - from the series ‘Land of Giants’ By Will Burrard-Lucas Image Description: “Land of Giants” is a collaboration with the Tsavo Trust in Kenya. The end product will be a photographic book about the elephants of Tsavo National Park. The first phase of the project took place during the dry season in August 2017. I spent many days photographing the elephants as they came to drink at various waterholes. For several images I used my BeetleCam, a remote-control camera buggy, that allowed me to achieve an intimate, close-up perspective. I had a live video feed from the Sony mirrorless camera on the BeetleCam which allowed me to accurately compose the images. I also took several images of a remarkable female elephant with tusks that reached down to the ground. Experts believe that there is no other female elephant with tusks to rival these in all of Africa. To find her we used a light aircraft to search an area twice the size of Wales.

What Grand Champions Polo Club and the World Polo League are doing for the Sport of Kings Photography by Carlos Barrios By Rebeca Herrero

G

rant Ganzi is one of those athletes whose easy-going manner is palpable as soon as you meet him. With a great smile, he walks inside the stables of Santa Rita farm, one of the largest polo facilities in the country. Known for such world-class polo players like Nic Roldan and Nacho Figueras, it features 102-acre farm, three polo fields, a 40-stall barn, four 20-stall barns, 10 tack rooms, and veterinarian facilities.

Santa Rita is owned by worldwide polo royalty, Grant’s parents Melissa and Marc Ganzi. The couple are extremely supportive of their son’s career, education, and good values. Teamwork is what defines this family. Not only for the love of horses but for the love of all the players who live and breathe polo. With several accolades under his arm, including the USPA North American Cup and USPA National 20-Goal Tournament, Grant has a fascinating life but loves his town of Wellington, as it is where he is from. His participation on the polo fields makes him a proud member of the family’s legacy. What makes the polo player ideal to continue his parents' history, is his commitment, passion for polo, and the natural instinct he displays on the field.

What are your first memories of Polo? My first memories of polo are playing at the young age of 4. I played being led by my dad or mom and participated in these tournaments organized by the polo training foundation.

How long have you been active in the sport of polo? I have been active for about 8 years now. I only started playing high goal polo 4 years ago. This is my 5th high goal season so far.

In your opinion... what makes a player great? What makes a player great is horsemanship, leadership, teamwork, and whether or not you have the ability to be clutch.

How many hours a week do you practice and what makes a good teammate? Depends on the week and on my school schedule, but usually at least 5 hours. Some weeks it could be more. A great teammate builds your confidence up and helps you play better as a result.

What are your plans in the future in regards to the sport. My plans in the future are to play in England and eventually Argentina during the main seasons in each place.

For people who don’t realize the challenges for players, what would you recommend to beginners.... I would recommend riding until you become a good rider before even swinging a mallet. You can always improve your riding!

Who do you most admired on the field? I admire Juan Martin Nero, he is the example of the ideal teammate and best #4 in the world. I aspire to be more like him.

You come from polo royalty. What did your parents teach you about Polo? My parents taught me everything about polo. Mostly I learned that polo is way more than just a sport on the field. They always showed me that off the field actions also translate to polo as well.

Trinity College Library Dublin I 2004. Copyright Candida Hofer_VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn.jpg

Why is the World Polo League the best to watch in Wellington. Because it’s the highest level of polo in the world outside of Argentina! The speed and open brand of polo is just a better way to play and watch the game.

Photographer Name: Candida Höfer Year: 2018 Image Description: Copyright: © 2018 Candida Höfer, VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn. Courtesy Ben Brown Fine Arts

How would you describe Wellington and what does it mean to you? Wellington is the best place for polo because of the proximity of all the fields. Every field is five minutes away from each other. Wellington is home it means everything to me. Winning here in wellington makes it that much more special.

You play in other countries. Which one do you like the most...and why? I really enjoyed playing in Austria! I played a snow polo tournament in Kitzbühel it was a blast! The polo was competitive and fun, the nightlife was great, and the event organized by Tito Gaudenzi was very well run.

What’s the best secret about the sport and about Grant Ganzi that few people know? The best secret about polo is the easier you swing at the ball the further it will go! A big secret of mine is that I’m scared of snakes!

What are the risks when you don’t follow certain rules in the game? The risks in polo are huge... polo is extremely dangerous, and you must be 100% focused and prepared for serious injuries every time you get on a horse.

What do you envision for the Grand Champions Polo Club and World Polo League? I envision more growth. The WPL has already grown by adding 2 mores teams than last year. As far as GCPC, my parents club, it is always growing in membership and new teams joining each season

HOW TO UNV EIL

the secrets of BEAUTY DR RAMTIN KASSIR

Photography by Dutch Doscher By Rebeca Herrero

T

he advances of modern plastic surgery are making procedures much easier when it comes to looking younger and aesthetically beautiful. Through the years, one of our main sources of beauty and wellness is Dr. Ramtin Kassir, a triple board-certified plastic surgeon that keeps innovating his practice in the heart of Manhattan and New Jersey. His new spa is titled “Inside Beauty” and here you will find all the latest trends in rhinoplasty, botox, fillers, and much more. Now tightening your skin doesn’t have to be painful or slow. In this article the surgeon recommends the latest trends and how to accomplish beauty inside and out.

What are the latest techniques at your office? We have many exciting and innovative technologies at the clinic. To start off, we have non-surgical methods to treat your face. One of the most exciting ones is a treatment called Excilis, which is a

New York Plastic Surgeon Dr. Ramtin Kassir, M.D.

The revolutionary doctor explains in detail the new

techniques to make you more beautiful AT ANY AGE!

Next is the jawline and cheek contouring with fillers, we straighten and extend the chin, making it more oval, more balanced. We highlight the cheekbones. The vernacular today is the “snatch look”. When you combine these methods, you look years younger and much more aesthetic.

What is the concept of Inside Beauty? Inside Beauty is our new state of the art medical spa which offers a serene and calm setting for new therapies. This helps alleviate our patients’ anxieties and prepares them for their procedures. Non-surgical procedures are neuro modulators, botox, dysport, xeomin, jeaveau, lasers, peels, injectables fillers, fat freezing, muscle sculpting, body tightening, IV therapies, rehydration, IV nutrients and many more. We will soon be adding space for the demands of our patients that will include a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, LED therapy for the body and healing. It came about when we wanted a congruent medical spa and healing facility to go along with our surgical center and office. As the name indicates, we work on the outside but, we also we treat the inside, working with the mind and soul to balance out our therapies.

What changes have you seen in your industry in the last 5 years? combined bipolar radio frequency and ultrasound for face, hands, and body and it only takes half an hour. It heats and tightens your skin and it is great for the outer layers. For the muscles, and sagging skin we have the latest and greatest threads which are absorbable, these methods are used under the eyes, under the lips, in the cheeks to cause tightening. The lasting effects of these procedures can last from six months to two years. It is a good method to reposition the muscle in addition to the skin without doing surgery. We have our own K-Lift which is a suture suspension neck lyft that lifts the muscles, tightening them without surgery. It can last up to two years. For the fat we have fat freezing, otherwise known as cryolipolysis, applied under the neck and anywhere on the body where you have unwanted fat. Our motto is “if you can squeeze, it you can freeze it”. The fat slowly goes away, and we also have the kybella mesotherapy, which is also known as deoxycholic acid. Another methodology is the electromagnetic wave which sculpts and tightens the muscles all over your 22|artbode gama gazine.com

body. One 30 minute treatment is the same as doing 20 thousand sit ups in one hour or doing 1000 squats in 30 minutes.

What are the trends right now? One of the biggest trends in plastic surgery is nonsurgical rhinoplasty which I pioneered in 2006 when I did it in one of the Housewives of New Jersey. It involves injectable fillers to contour the nose. Sometimes it is as good as a rhinoplasty and it lasts for one or two years. When our patients don’t have the time for surgery or don’t have the mindset to do surgery they can come and contour the nose, make the tip and bump smaller using injectable fillers. We use the same facial contouring with the lips, jawline, and cheeks. We like to make the nose more feminine and angular. So many examples can be seen on our Instagram account at @drkassir, we encourage this, it’s a 5 to 10minute process that can last for a year. It’s a segue to moving forward with surgery. The benefits of a nonsurgical rhinoplasty are that there is no downtime, no surgery, no recovery and no anesthesia.

Patients are aging and have the same concerns at different decades of life. You are also seeing many millennials who are driven primarily by social media. As older patients are aging, they are taking care of themselves as they have more time and are celebrating events, as they realize how life is so short. The millennials are focusing less on material acquisitions and more on experiences. As patients get older, they want to look as natural and flawless with the minimum procedure and down time. I’ve been practicing for 23 years, and the demographics have changed. My average facelift patient used to be 60 years old. Today some of them are in their 40’s. Patients want to take advantage of nonsurgical and surgical procedures like fillers and botox at a much younger age. The theme is more about prevention than multiple surgeries and procedures at a later age.

Also many patients want to follow Kylie Jenner and want a specific look for cheekbones and lips. In general, they want fuller lips and high cheekbones giving them an elegant look. An example of one our own patients is Lele Pons, who had rhinoplasty over three years ago, and now she has 40 million followers and many patients request her look. Finally, we also consider stress and the many stress factors in our patients’ lives. Stress has a significant impact on your appearance and minimizing those factors and giving the patients the tools to deal with the stress frequently makes their experience easier and better. In a survey done over 3000 patients, one of the key factors for longevity was not diet, or exercise or genetics, it was friendship and the number of friends you have around you in your life. With the growth of social media and Instagram people are heavily influenced by the Kardashians. IG has a feature like the Facetune, where you can see jawline straighter, which puts a lot of pressure on patients as they want to keep up with the celebrities. Instagram is not reality and sometimes their expectations are not real. We explain to our patients that not everyone looks like that, that it might

be better to look good while naturally and have a softer approach. We also seek medical clearances, and we want to know they are doing it for the right reasons.

Is turning vegan a good choice for all of us? I turned vegan two years ago. It’s a mindset and philosophy that has many reasons behind it. The diet aims at lowering your cholesterol by consuming a more plant-based diet. If you consider that the number one killer in

Dr Ramtin Kassir adults is heart disease and cancer is number two, we must know, that what we eat has consequences. Example given, diabetics who consume a plant- based diet in two or three weeks might not even need insulin and the blood pressure improves as well. The health benefits are tremendous. In general, I believe social media and the amount of information at our disposal has expanded the opportunity in our lives to live happier, longer, while looking incredibly great at any age.

Matt JOHNSON H I S D E D I C AT I O N FOR HORSES IS AN EXAMPLE O F L O YA L T Y FOR ALL THINGS EQUESTRIAN

How the towns’ most devoted dressage rider loves his horse and the land around We l l i n g t o n

By Rebeca Herrero Wellington, Florida

O

n a pleasant afternoon, Matt Johnson strolls the green pastures of OS Dressage, a beautiful facility in Wellington where only the best riders of dressage come to train to prepare them for worldwide competitions. Johnson, a symbol of the great discipline of dressage loves his horse, Petersborg’s Qasanova, an amazing Danish Warmblood stallion (Quaterback X Kajana I/Calypso II), and together both have competed through the years and traveled the world loving the sport.

prospects of our growth in a competitive market worldwide. The building of the farm represents great memories for us. I used to watch the construction of Windsome as a younger man. After purchasing Qasanova at Helgstrand Dressage in Denmark, to have made this deal is an extraordinary experience. It comes full circle.”

His demeanor is affable yet committed. He strolls around the farm next to Qasanova. He treats the stallion with dedication, provides snacks once he has ridden the horse. It is such a delight to see that once they walk next to each other, you perceive the great connection between both Johnson and Qasanova.

The farm is now part of that elite training and sales facility symbolizing excellence. One of Europe’s most prestigious and influential horse performance and breeding center, Helgstand was brokered by Johnson. Helgstrand Dressage is the namesake of International Grand Prix Dressage rider Andreas Helgstrand, whose famous ride with mare Blue Hors Matine at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany made him an instant International Dressage celebrity. With Blur Hors Matine, Helgstrand earned individual and Team Bronze at the 2006 WEG, and subsequently struck out on his own to found Helgstrand Dressage in 2008. They are now one of the biggest sellers of dressage horses, with 600 horses in Germany, the United States, and Denmark.

He not only delves in this beautiful setting where he lives full time, but he also has a passion for real estate and has dedicated his entire career to the sale of farms and mansions in South Florida. Recently he sold the Windsome Farms, a showcase equestrian estate in Wellington to Helgstrand Dressage, becoming the Danish firm’s permanent USA sales center.

In 2003, Johnson an avid dressage competitor was looking for a horse at the Helgstrand’s farm in Denmark. As he represented the 2014 FEI World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany he purchased the four-year-old stallion. Currently, they are moving in the Dressage Competitions in Wellington with plans to debut at Grand Prix in 2020.

The price of the 52 horse stalls on 80 acres could have fetched 25 million dollars. Built in 1995, it includes a barn and a grass grand prix field with natural jumps and hills, 16 grooming stalls, six wash stalls, a tack room, a bridle path, and four man-made lakes. Knowing how Wellington is the Capital of the Equestrian World, home of the Global Dressage Festival, the Winter Equestrian Festival and Deeridge Farms of jumpers and hunters plus the Grand Champions Polo Club, Johnson surrounds himself with skilled people in the business that know how to invest in the Equestrian competitions.

Due to his expertise within the elite equestrian properties nationally and worldwide, he was inducted into the Private Office Group of Engel & Volkers in Hamburg, Germany. This group specializes in Real Estate acquisitions and sales for high net worth individuals and corporations, which ranks on the top 3% of top real estate advisors for the firm. Another great accomplishment of Johnson has been the sale of four contiguous farms totaling over 100 acres producing a sale over 42 million dollars, a record for the Village of Wellington.

“To have sold a farm of this level requires knowledge of the market. Equestrians do know the opportunity of the area. We cherish the 30|artbode gama gazine.com

Beyond South Florida - Law firm merger results in new firm,“Hudson Morgan”. Joseph Danenza comments on the way forward. By Rebeca Herrero

O

ne of the Partners of Hudson Morgan, Joe Danenza has an broad background in legal matters spanning from litigation, company law to personal injury. His journey started as an accountant in New York where he learned how to manage business finances from the ground up. Born and raised in New York, Danenza gained knowledge on the in and outs of complex business transactions while dealing with financial gurus on Wall Street and business leaders both here and abroad. “From an early age I worked in real estate transactions with some of the largest family offices whose multibillion dollar projects still resound worldwide today”, said Danenza who has also lived in London for the past three decades. Danenza relocated to South Florida to bring his expertise to the firm and expand the firm on a global basis. His frequent global travels between London and South Florida has allowed Danenza, an expert on International Law, to diversify the merger of the law practices into one of the major offices in South Florida and the East Coast. At Pepperdine Law School in California, Danenza encountered and gained relationships with many international scholars, many of whom are world leaders today. “Some of them became presidents and leaders of industries in their respective countries. What I really admired about my college environment was the international group of minds that coalesced at this wonderful campus. You learned a broader perspective of life. When you are a good lawyer the intricacies of our discipline can be challenging. In the context of our new world, where social media takes precedence, you need to have an eagle-eyed approach in any legal process”, confirmed Danenza. He now resides in Miami and believes the city is primed with big opportunities. “You really need to know the system if you happen to get in hot water. It is a knowledge that goes beyond the Court. Law has to be practiced with an effort that surpasses our clients’ expectation in order for it to function with excellence”.

36|artbode gama gazine.com

Some of the cases Danenza has negotiated were sometimes stuck in the process of endless litigation until his progressive attitude pushed them forward to a resolution. “I like to drive my cases to a final resolution,

whether or not this means settling or going to a trial, unlike some law firms who may perpetuate a case. It requires being proactive rather than being reactive.. We like to give the client the option of settling or taking a case to the exhaustion of all legal remedies. In either situation we agressivly push the case forward. It is what clients should expect.. While in the same process being less draining on the client financially and emotionally. It’s a trust factor, relying on us to be proactive.. We have found that this approach allows business to quickly remove the legal obstacles that hinder their growth and profitability leaving our clients with the ability to so they can get on with running and growing their business without unessesary drama. We aggressively push things forward on behalf of our clients, to reach a final resolution or judgement at court. Danenza believes Miami is the next frontier for many opportunities as we are heading onto a new future international post where countries south and north will reflect a wider prospect of business opportunities and more. There is a huge requirement for a straightforward, “can do” approach. Danenza was the senior partner of Alexander Samuel in London where over a ten-year period he brought the firm to being one of the largest Personal Injury firms in London with tens of thousands of clients and hundreds of millions in transactions. The firm was well known for its forward thinking management and aggressive tactics on behalf of their clients. Danenza now brings this streamlined approach to the legal arena here in South Florida as a welcome member of the firm and as a fundamental part of the firms’ merger. From the firm’s streamlined offices in the middle of Miami overlooking the beautiful Biscayne Bay, Danenza commented, “This merger allows us to expand this firm as I had always had done in the past with prior practices. Handling high net worth transactions and obtaining aggressive awards for compensation for our clients. We also intend to make use of our extensive experience in personal injury. If you want your legal issues handled fast and efficiently then give us a call. 888 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33132 Tel. (305) 600 3250 artbode gama gazine.com|37

Luxe

Fashion Trio

By Elizabeth Darwen

New York City is the undisputed fashion capital of the United States. It is a mecca for major designers and up-and-comers alike, and high-end shopping. The blend of brands and styles each store sets these boutiques apart. Here are three luxury fashion locales for you next shopping excursion.

Harrys of London Contemporary Footwear Synonymous with innovative design, high quality manufacturing and modern style, Harrys of London is a quintessentially British contemporary brand. When the iconic brand was conceived in London in 2001 by Matthew Mellon, the purpose was to create ‘shoes that feel like sneakers’, and the business defined a new category. The Harrys of London concept started with the elegant, sporty lines and unique sole of the popular DOWNING loafer, followed by the soft, unstructured Basel moccasin. These styles which we now refer to as ‘the iconics’ were instantly popular and became the benchmark for everything that followed. Today the brand continues to deliver the ultimate wearing experience for men who do not wish to sacrifice style for comfort and vice versa.

Richard James Savile Row Bespoke Menswear Richard James Savile Row opened its American flagship store in New York, located in a landmark building at the corner of Park Avenue and 57th street. The 2,260 sq. ft. interior has been designed by Andy Martin Architecture, which also designed the house’s original flagship London store on famed Savile Row. Established in 1992 by Richard James and Sean Dixon, Richard James quickly established a reputation for itself as a leading luxury brand that has set the standard for contemporary tailoring and menswear. In the last 25 years, the label has achieved international commercial and editorial success, whist retaining its cult status among the fashion, pop and film cognoscenti. Vibrant color, clever cut and offbeat combinations set the Richard James collections apart from other menswear designers. The collection is carried by leading retailers around the world, including Barneys New York, Harrods, and Mr. Porter, among other leading retailers globally. 461 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10022 For more information about Richard James, please visit: www.richard-james.com.

INNOVATIVE CONTEMPORARY DESIGNS WITH

GALE SITOMER This in combination with his specialized hair care products and supplements, is a game changer in the hair industry—and for women and men who are dealing with hair loss and thinning hair. According to the American Hair Loss Association, forty percent of women have visible hair loss by the time they are age 40, and there are few medical solutions offered by family doctors. Treating fine and thinning hair has now become the standard in the hair salon and hair care industry. There are many reasons why hair may begin to thin or fall out, and through 25 years of hands-on experience with people from all walks of life, Angelo has seen it all. In recent years, Angelo has seen more and more young women coming into the salon, seeking help for their thinning hair. Angelo and his team create personalized wigs, toppers, extensions and fillers that help his clients regain their confidence by giving them the hair they used to have, or the hair that they’ve always wanted.

ANGELO DAVID’S

THINNING HAIR SOLUTIONS TO REVOLUTIONIZE THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY Phoroa: Courtesy of ©Jaime Pavon, and the Couture Hair Boutique to ©Angelo David Salon

By Ann Grenier

When people come to Angelo David Salon, they can expect to leave with hair they never thought possible. As owner and creative director of Angelo David Salon and one of New York City’s leading authorities on fine and thinning hair, Angelo David Pisacreta is not just a hair illusionist, he is the Vera Wang of couture hair. In 2000, David launched Angelo David Couture Hair Additions™, the world’s finest customized hair solutions that include wigs, hair pieces, extensions, volumizing toppers, clip-on bangs and ponytails. 42|artbode gama gazine.com

Upon arrival, clients will come in for a private consultation in order to understand their concerns and situation. Clients are able to speak candidly about what they are experiencing and understand all their options. The consultation process can begin before coming to the salon, to accommodate international clients who travel far to meet with Angelo and his team. Once a plan is set, a sample of the client’s hair is taken before their new hair can be created. The 100% human hair additions are then designed and tailored in order to match the clients’ own hair texture, color, shape and responsiveness. This way, the hair reacts exactly the same way as their natural hair would, from how it naturally dries when wet, to how it responds to heat and styling. When clients see themselves in the mirror for the first time with their new hair, the reaction is often a very emotional one. Tears of joy are not uncommon, and they tell Angelo how good it feels to feel like themselves again.

“It’s the main reason why I do what I do,” says Angelo, “We don’t just change people’s hair here, we change people’s lives”. Angelo’s experience with hair loss and hair thinning led him to develop Angelo created Hair Detox® Hair Revival Supplement, a hair and lifestyle supplement that addresses stress and inflammation of the body—two things that trigger hair loss or thinning hair. Hair Detox® is based on the latest science and research on the nutrients and herbs such as keratin, biotin, vitamin B6 and selenium that address these contributors to thinning hair and hair loss. Hair Detox ® gently detoxifies the body, helps minimize nutritional deficiencies, addresses hormonal imbalances and supports healthy hair growth from within to reveal fuller, thicker hair. Many of Angelo’s clients swear by Hair Detox® because it works from the inside out to address the root cause of their thinning hair problem. Angelo David Hair Care products, the Hair Detox® hair revival supplement, and the Angelo David Couture Brush Collection are all available online at www. angelodavid.com.

By Peter Elston

The Designer's Swimwear Line, Monarch Reign

Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, Inc., along with national real estate developer Charles S. Cohen announced the opening of Le Méridien Dania Beach at Fort Lauderdale Airport. Taking cues from the brand’s mid-century design aesthetic, the comprehensive multi-million dollar, top-to-bottom conversion of the property brings to life Le Méridien’s distinctive French heritage and the allure of the Côte d’Azur to South Florida. Located just steps from the city’s famed The Design Center of the Americas, the 12-story hotel, designed by David Ashen of dash design, features 245 thoughtfully designed guest rooms and suites. Throughout the exterior and interior of the hotel guests will find references to the sky and sea with design details such as a grand oculus in the lobby that frames the sky to pay homage the glamorous era of air travel, allowing guests to stargaze and view planes passing over. The guestrooms are minimal and modern in design with touches of blue and grey to reflect the destination, features custom-made headboards with mappings of the city inlaid into the wood veneer, and local photography captured by Elizabeth Gill Lui that celebrates the diverse architecture and environment of Fort Lauderdale. “It was a true pleasure for us to partner with real estate developer Charles S. Cohen and Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts,” says David Ashen, the founder of dash design, the interior design and brand consulting firm for Le Méridien. “The design we created supported the tenets of Le Méridien brand as well as the lifestyle that is emblematic for South Florida, both for its residents and visitors. Every detail was thought out: form, function, as well as beauty. The concept sets a standard that we are proud to have contributed.” Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in five culinary outlets throughout the hotel including the brands signature Latitude/Longitude Bar serving light fare at Le Méridien Hub and Cabana, as well as Toro Latin Kitchen, serving up a South American menu, La Bibloteca de Tequila which is an exclusive tequila bar and lounge, Constellation Café serving daily French fare, and the hotel’s outdoor bar offering Caribbean-style fare poolside. For meetings and events, the hotel offers 25,000 square feet of state-of-the-art flexible meeting space within a prime location, in the epicenter of South Florida. Conveniently located minutes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Fort Lauderdale Everglades Cruise Port, the new hotel also neighbors Las Olas Boulevard, downtown Fort Lauderdale and the evolving Dania Pointe. Le Méridien Dania Beach at Fort Lauderdale Airport will also offer guests a sensorial environment through the brand’s signature scent, which was developed with MALIN+GOETZ. Aptly named LM002 for airplane tail numbers, the alluring scent will be featured in the public spaces, as it is at all of Le Méridien’s properties globally. Paying homage to its French roots, the brand also has a signature soundtrack that will fill the Hub and public spaces, curated by French Bossa Nova band Nouvelle Vague. In addition, Le Méridien Dania Beach at Fort Lauderdale Airport will offer guests a variety of amenities including a signature Club Lounge with views of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, a fully equipped state-of-the-art 1,200-square-foot Fitness Center and Yoga Room, an 82-foot zero-entry pool and an outdoor terrace called the “Water Club.” The Hub will serve custom-brewed, barista-crafted coffee beverages as part of the brand’s collaboration with illy coffee for guests to sip and savour. 46|artbode gama gazine.com

Gorgeous & artistic

JUDITH PUCKNAT Photography by Geraldine Pavan

Judith Pucknat is one of those women that stops at nothing when it comes to style and real estate. Her passion for all things beautiful, have taken her worldwide to unimaginable places where beauty co-exists with the environment. Her new project, The Royal Mill Luxury Home and Hotels, to be launched soon in the Grenadines is one of those gorgeous new developments in the Caribbean, where luxury meets tranquility. Here we exchange a few words with the realtor who lives in Miami Beach, invests in real estate, knows how to spend her time raising her beautiful daughter Romi, as well as keeping a perfect balanced life with work. As she posed for Art Bodega magazine, her striking looks are a symbol of wellness and beauty routine she practices daily. But her beauty also comes from within. She is truly philanthropic. Pucknat donated money to the Art Bodega Gala for UNICEF and is fully committed to the SVC Charity (Silent Victims of Crime, The Children of Incarcerated Parents) and many other non-profits. Style and beauty combined with a good heart.

Why is Miami so special to you? Miami is special to me because I met the love of my life here, moved here for him and gave birth to our baby in Mount Sinai. We live in Miami Beach and I love it. We look over Brickell’s skyline and the islands. Miami to me has it all. It is a still growing cosmopolitan city and we have the beach and the bay. So many great spots in town. I love Miami.

You are very athletic. Talk about your fitness regime. I love my weekly workouts at Figurella, and I am very passionate about tennis and (salsa) dancing.

Favorite things to do in Miami?

I get inspired by many things or people. It can be meeting a good friend and loving the look. It is not something in specific I get my inspiration from. Usually I get inspired by how I feel and what I want to express at that moment.

One of my favorite things to do is going out for dinner. From the moment I have to dress up, to stepping into a restaurant taking in the scenery and menu card. I just love it. Places I love to go are: “SurfClub Bal Harbor”, the bar at that Four Seasons hotel is also a great spot. Like the view at Juvia, the food at Milos is always good and the pizza at Lucali Pizza is our favorite. I love to go to the Beach at Edition. Great beach club, good service.

What does philanthropy mean for you?

Tell me about your new projects in the Grenadines?

It means a lot to me and I am part of a non-profit organization that supports children whose parents are incarcerated and me and my husband support this apart from the fact that I am on the board and volunteer.

It’s a project that combines private residences with a hotel. The location is just beautiful and the new airport will enable foreigners to come and invest, live here and enjoy possibly one of the last most beautiful new developments in the Caribbean. We will also celebrate the opening of La Vue Boutique Hotel & Beach Club this April. It’s is just an extraordinary project. Both are a true example of luxury in the Caribbean.

What has been your inspiration in style all your life?

You have become a mom...how do you feel about it? I feel great! It really is the best thing that can happen to a woman. To become a mother. I feel so blessed to have our

little Romy and watch her daily making process and even saying “mama” now. Even before she said “dada”. She is our cherry on our cake.

La Bottega Canadian Andrew Dadson, American Erica Mahinay, and Italian Gian Maria Tosatti were named as the three artists invited to participate in the fifth edition of Artisti per Frescobaldi, the biennial prize for contemporary art created and directed by Tiziana Frescobaldi, Artistic Director and President of Compagnia de’ Frescobaldi, and curated by art expert Ludovico Pratesi. The artists, all under 40, were commissioned to create artwork that would interpret the spirit, history, and terroir of CastelGiocondo, the Frescobaldi wine estate located in Montalcino, which they visited in 2019. Each artist will also create a sketch based on that artwork, which will then appear on the front label of a limited edition of Castelgiocondo Brunello 2015 magnums, the vintage dedicated to Artisti per Frescobaldi.

New York-based Larry J. West purchased 6.21-carat intense pink diamond unearthed and polished by ALROSA. As pink diamonds become more rare, the quality of this piece is certainly one to acknowledge as a great investment.

Charriol It was 1983 when a young Philippe Charriol sought to bring his spirit of bon vivant to the world with a knack for artful living and an eye for technical mastery. It was the debut of the Celtic Collection, his first, and with this elegant timepiece a legacy was born. In the words of Charriol CEO, Coralie Charriol : “As we looked ahead to 2020, a new decade and new chapter, we knew we wanted to find a really special way to honor Dad. We spent time combing through the archives, understanding the enormous heritage that he built. Nothing seemed to capture his spirit quite like the original: The Celtic Collection. We are so proud to have remade it, just like I’ll be proud to wear it and share it with the world. It’s the most fitting way to honor his life and to keep his memory at hand.” artbode gama gazine.com|59

The Beauty takes

Minton's Playhouse in Harlem

An Iconic Jazz Club

Theresa Pinson NP 500 North Broadway Suite 142 Jericho, NY 11753 www.virtualskinspa.com Talk about your practice...I have been practicing Aesthetics for over fifteen years. My first job was in New York City working on Fifth Avenue for a company called Skin Klinic. Skin Klinic was one of the first companies which blended a medical model with a business model. I was hired fresh out of graduate school. My previous experience in nursing was cardiac with a focus on health promotion and wellness. I perceived Botox Cosmetic and Dermal fillers a natural extension of promoting good health. Fast forward, after “playing my dues” in the industry, Virtual Skin Spa was born. As a Family Nurse Practitioner with an extensive experience in Aesthetics my goal was to reduce some of the barriers of entry into Aesthetics. I wanted to make it more affordable, less scary, more relaxed with an element of fun with a healthy respect for the reality we are practicing Aesthetics. Where are you from originally? I consider Alabama as my home though I was born in New Jersey. Why NYC? Not to be trite but isn’t New York the city of dreams…. If you can make it there you can make it anywhere…. I guess growing up in Alabama I somehow internalized those notions.

Tell me about your experience. What made you get into the field of nursing and beauty? I identified my gift as a healer, caretaker and nurse as a very young child. I always felt a need to care for things which were somehow broken or damaged. I remember rescuing a bird, a hatchling which had fallen from a nest onto the sidewalk. I remember taking the tiny creature with no wings and preparing a makeshift nest in a shoebox. I tried my best to keep the bird alive, trying to feed it worms I dug from the ground- of course it eventually died. I was devastated. I remember reading the Boy Scout manual Chapter 7 First Aid and Life saving. …... Also, as I mentioned earlier I found my passion for Aesthetics with my first role as an injector at Skin Klinic. What makes you the best? I do not believe I am artbode gama gazine.com|63

What do you think women want in terms of the body, wellness, and looks? Many women and men present with realistic expectations (which we must qualify through the consultative process) wanting to be an improved version of themselves. Others present idealizing the Kardashians and seeking to emulate their appearance. It is a more - “I want to look good” deal or there is an inner layer that has to do with aging. I believe that we must embrace the aging process. I have been an eyewitness as women become more beautiful with age... I have also witnessed women become bitter with aging. How do you view aging, natural process or something that people can change? I read an article several years ago which I believe is relevant Middle age no longer exists, “ hello to the age of the Perennials” … Perennials are a type of person, that is ever blooming, stays current with technology and the World and has friends of all ages. Aging is a natural progression of life. I consider myself a perennial. What modern techniques in the beauty field are helping this cause? The list goes on and on but one of the most recent which comes to mind is Emsculpt- we now have a modality which can build muscle- so its anti aging for muscles!!!! First and only in its class which is FDA cleared for abdomen, buttocks biceps, and triceps… Amazing technology!

the best. I do know with complete confidence I am highly skilled. What sets me apart from other practioners is my openness, creativity, honesty, loyalty and when it comes to budgetary concerns I get it! What do you do on a constant basis to get better at it? I believe continuing education is paramount. I continue to invest in my development as an injector. I just mastered the Y lift which is a technique of injecting dermal filler which was trademarked by Dr. Yon Trokel. I am very proud to be one of his proteges. What do people ask you for the most? The younger patients, the millennial, is seeking lip fillers and Botox Cosmetic and more recently the trend is cheek augmentation and jawline filler attempting to reshape their face. Then I have the male clientele who favor jawline defining, Botox cosmetic and skincare. Then I have the “ageless” client who is seeking complete facial rejuvenation incorporating skin tightening, laser resurfacing, intensive skincare in combination with dermal fillers and Botox cosmetic. 64|artbode gama gazine.com

I do love our skincare care Lust line... l cleanse with Virtual Clean, exfoliate with our Glow pads alternating with our Vitamin C pads and follow with LUST RX which has a proprietry ingredient. I recently added Nectifirm by Revision skincare which I had carried for awhile which my clients raved about! Also, I love our laser genesis and try to make time for a treatment twice a month which helps keep my skin glowing and pores tight. How do you stay in shape, nutrition? I try to eat a balanced diet and keep a fitness app on my phone. Lately I have been into the keto craze! We have a gym across the hall in the Long Island office and sometimes if I have a break in the day I will pop over for a quick workout. Also we purchased the Emsculpt machine this year and in lieu of lunch somedays I treat myself to 20,000 sit ups in 30 minutes. Where do you like to relax? I love to relax in my garden. When I am not working making people more beautiful, I love to nurture flowers and grow a beautiful flower garden. Hobbies? I love to travel ! I love the cultures of different people. Growing up in the deep South, there was always pressure to conform. As I moved away from these ideas, I have embraced diversity. Wherever I go I will always visit a local spa, beauty salon, Medspa or “ladies pharmacy” as it was called in Morocco to learn of their “beauty secrets”. Upon returning from Morocco one year ago, I was inspired to add Pure Lust to our skincare line which contains pure Argon sourced from Morocco. Pure Argon oil is harvest from the Argon tree and is endemic to Morocco. The oil is amazing for skin, hair, nails and is good for all skin types. artbode gama gazine.com|65

Just World International

Nonprofit organization JustWorld International had a record-breaking crowd for the Seventeenth Annual JustWorld Gala, presented by Caryl Philips and Frank Zeiss and Ford’s Garage, hosted at Belle Herbe Farm in Wellington, Florida on Friday, January 24, 2020. More than 750 guests, primarily from the equestrian community came together to celebrate the organization’s seventeenth year of uniting equestrians to support and empower thousands of children around the world. The evening commemorated the history and growth of the organization. In 2003, passionate supporters of JustWorld began working towards the common goal of fracturing the cycle of poverty for children by giving them the tools and opportunity to become positive leaders in their communities. Since its inception, global equestrian Ambassadors, including juniors, amateurs, and professionals of all riding disciplines, have changed children’s lives by helping with fundraising efforts and spreading awareness of the powerful JustWorld education and nutrition programs.

The Annual Gala is the organization’s largest fundraising event and has grown tremendously each year. The JustWorld Gala is one of the first and most talked about events of the Winter Equestrian Festival season. JustWorld thanks sponsors, donors, volunteers, and long-time supporters as well as newcomers who came together to give children a brighter future. The JustWorld Gala Committee, under the leadership of Gala Co-Chairs, Maria Newman and Evelyn Treacy, was also a driving force behind the success of the event, working diligently to secure one-of-a-kind auction items and drive ticket and table sales.

While the growth of JustWorld has been remarkable, JustWorld and their supporters are not stopping now and have big plans to expand their reach. The organization is excited to continue the celebrations of the organization’s successes and take that same spark to empower more children. Equestrians from all around the world will continue to unite to provide more meals, more books, more classes, more hope and more opportunity for children around the world. You can be a part of this change! Please visit: www.justworldinternational.org.

WHAT IT MEANS TO GIVE

>> cident. My sister found me unresponsive after falling onto concrete off my horse, resulting in traumatic brain injury and a long-term coma, with a cracked open skull.” As the philanthropist recounts, it was her connection to art that recovery was possible. Unable to do anything but lie in bed knowing that this may be her reality for the rest of her life, Fraile resorted to her passion of drawing. “It was something very little and insignificant to most, however the spark created through this small accomplishment gave me the strength not to give up. I know that Los Patojos provides the same form of healing and hope to children whom are otherwise lost to drugs and gangs because they simply have no other choice without the support the project provides.” Milene Michel Santos, a student at Los Patojos describes, “My dream is to be a good woman, an artist. I would like to be a poet and an architect. I am sure it will not be easy, but Los Patojos will support me with my dreams.” During her participation boards, chairing events, coming up with new social entrepreneurial initiatives, and hosting fundraisers like the one she recently held at Ferragamo for Just World, Denise finds time to relax, travel and love what she does with great certainty and dedication. She is stylish, loves beautiful art and architecture and is considered a very well-respected young philanthropist. “It was such an honor, it makes you feel wonderful, all I want to do is create more initiatives and continue with my work”…. and it is most certain that her efforts will keep gaining traction in the years to come.

Denise Fraile has dedicated her heart to Just World International and all for the right reasons By Rebeca Herrero From having lived in several countries, competing at the professional level as a show jumping equestrian, to CEO and founder of Verati Design Group, Denise Fraile is a unique individual. Aside from her busy career, Fraile prioritizes her active involvement within the community, taking pride in heading up social entrepreneurship and philanthropic initiatives. She spent several years serving as a board member for Alliance for Kids, Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, was candidate of the year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year challenge. Most recently, she received the Humanitarian Leg-Up Award from JustWorld International. This award was given for exemplary efforts in giving children in impoverished communities a “leg-up” to a brighter future. “I do my best to help this cause because I’ve seen my efforts have great and positive impact any time I’ve been involved.” Her involvement with JustWorld International also led Fraile to be a speaker at NEXUS, the largest network of international next-gen philanthropists, impact investors and social entrepreneurs in the world. NEXUS has members from over 70 countries representing over $500 Billion in net worth. Fraile’s mindset and love for making

our world a better place, is what makes Fraile a great philanthropist. “The power to give is what builds us”, defines the charming blonde. Fraile has dedicated most of her philanthropic passion to two time CNN Hero nominated JustWorld International. JustWorld supports over 7000 children through education, nutrition, health and hygiene, and cultural development programs. As a long time supporter of JustWorld and taking on several roles within the organization, Fraile has also visited her favorite JustWorld project, Los Patojos in Guatemala. “Coming from a creative mind-set and having been an artist all of my life, I love everything about Los Patojos.” Juan Pablo Romero Fuentes, the projects original founder embraces the healing of the arts and incorporates this throughout the Los Patojos programs. Fraile, who lives in North Palm Beach, has been a life-long artist with a love for creativity. Her story is unique. “When I was younger, I had a terrible ac-
