Barry Weintraub
BEAUTY by DESIGN
By Rebeca Herrero

Dr.
Photography by Jaison Paez
Dr. Barry Weintraub is known in the upper echelons of society as “The Face Doctor” due to his techniques which, coupled with an extremely sophisticated aesthetic, create surgical results that look unquestionably natural without revealing any telltale signs of surgery.
“My consultations can last upwards of an hour or longer,” explains Dr. Weintraub from his office located across from Central Park on Fifth Avenue and 61st Street. “I begin the conversation by asking patients what they wish to improve: it is their decision – not mine – as to what bothers them. While looking in a mirror, they point to the area of concern. It’s an honor to possess the skills to fulfill their requests.”
Dr. Weintraub’s accomplishments are reflected in the compilation of framed college and medical-school degrees hanging in his office. Dr. Weintraub attended Brandeis University graduating Magna Cum Laude. He completed his medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical Center and completed his General Surgery, Internship and Residency at UCLA- Cedars Sinai. His fellowship in Plastic Surgery was also completed at Weill Cornell. “What I enjoy most about this field is its evolution – not just in broad strokes with the improvement of technology and instrumentation, but the specific evolution of my personal surgical skills. Every year I develop new techniques as a result of operating on my patients and especially seeing them numerous times postoperatively during their follow-up appointments. This allows me to examine how my techniques manifest.”
One of the most sought-after techniques is Dr. Weintraub’s hybrid facelift. “My patients in the 50+ range want to correct their sagging midfaces, nasolabial folds, jowls, marionette lines and the laxity of their necks – but without looking pulled or fake. Particularly with the increase of male facelifting, people are thrilled with the results of the hybrid lift, which is comprised of three parts: the extended deep-plane facelift (which addresses the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowls, and the area around the mouth), the SMAS layer (which addresses the neck and jawline), and the cuticular (which helps lift the sagging midface and cheekbones). In addition,” says Dr. Weintraub enthusiastically, “sometimes patients request an extremely subtle tip-lift of the nose. This can take years off someone’s appearance, because an
obvious hallmark of older age is the downturned, bulbous nasal tip that becomes more evident upon smiling.”
While Dr. Weintraub enjoys helping patients look naturally attractive, his focus is specifically on preserving their individuality. No duck lips, no excess fillers, no over-doing it for the sake of false beauty, and no cookie-cutter noses and faces. “As soon as you exit the realm of the subtle and natural, you can look tampered with and therefore, much older. This is because if you look like you’ve had something done, by nature you’re not young!”
Another popular surgery is Dr. Weintraub’s Bedroom Eye Lift™. This addresses the puffy fat of the lower lids that makes patients look tired, as well as the conservative removal of excess skin of the upper eyelids which is key to retaining the eye’s natural shape. “In essence,” explains Dr. Weintraub, “it’s the opposite of the deer-in-theheadlights blepharoplasty, because if you remove too much skin of the upper eyelids, patients look frightened and odd, but if the amount is just right, they still look like themselves.”
Interestingly, according to Dr. Weintraub, one of the most important things a plastic surgeon can tell a patient is the simple word “no.” Dr. Weintraub refuses many cases when it’s not in the patient’s best interest – such as if a family member pressures them to have surgery, or if the risk/reward ratio is not in a patient’s favor. In such instances, Dr. Weintraub will not perform the surgery and will gently explain why.
When reviewing before-and-after photos with Dr. Weintraub, it’s not hard to be impressed. The changes are subtle but extremely effective. His rhinoplasty results, for example, possess a variety of shapes and sizes that vary from patient to patient, but end result is always perfectly harmonious and congruous with the patient’s facial features. Challenging revision-rhinoplasty results show improved profiles from correcting unsatisfactory results produced by other offices. Neck lifts, which are frequently sought after since the neck is one of the first things to show age, can be performed on men and women. “Women at first try to disguise matters by wearing scarves, and men find that their necks hang over their shirts and ties. This is due to the natural gravitation
“MY SERVICES ARE A WANT – NEVER A NEED. PLASTIC SURGERY IS NOT THE SOLUTION; IT IS SIMPLY A MEANS TO CORRECT AN OUTWARD ISSUE.”

descent of skin and fat over time. In addition, diet, exercise, sun damage and genetics contribute to the ageing process.”
Sharing his philosophy of what makes for an attractive face – whether male or female – Dr. Weintraub describes that aesthetically, a series of “S” shapes contribute to facial elegance. “The forehead should go in at the temples, out at the cheekbones, in at the midface, out at the jawline, and in at the neck. Once you disregard the natural anatomical landmarks and overfill, overstretch, or distort in any way, people no longer benefit from having procedures done. In New York City,” explains Dr. Weintraub, “there exists a more understated and European aesthetic as compared to certain southern locations in the U.S. Lately, however, I’ve seen patients from New York who have had near-misses or unfortunate experiences with individuals they think are board-certified plastic surgeons, but who are not. In fact, there was a recent spate of hospitalizations due to bootleg Botox. I always urge patients who seek board-certified plastic surgeons to go to the American Board of Plastic Surgery’s website (https://www. abplasticsurgery.org/) to verify membership.”
The commitment to superior patient care, as well as the respect of aesthetics, is evident in Dr. Weintraub’s office. He holds sacred the honor of treating patients and always puts patient care first. “The essence of plastic surgery combines medical science and artistic vision. First comes the medical care, the safety, the science. After that, you must have a sense of beauty, an artistic ability to know when to stop, in order to create truly profound results.”

JUNE JACOBS
Is a PIONEER in the skincare industry & her work as a philanthropist.

June and Rochelle pose inside June Jacobs’ penthouse in Manhattan. Wardrobe by Designer Revival

Entering the private penthouse of June Jacobs in Manhattan is a superb experience for the voyeur of the fine things in life. Her stunning Provence-looking vases as soon as you enter the main hall reflect a serenity that only the most refined individuals would appreciate. Jacobs is a skincare guru that excels in the world of creams and lotions globally. During our private photo session alongside her daughter Rochelle Jacobs, we got an inside look into her daily life, from having scrumptious bran muffins on the terrace surrounded by a bevy of flowers all irrigated and pruned by June’s loyal staff, to the selection of beautiful Valentino gowns and great looking diamond pieces she shows us inside the master bedroom.
The mature beauty is as professional as can be, being the CEO of June Jacobs, a major beauty label. Jacobs has great taste; all she touches has an elegance about it, from her wardrobe selection to her house décor, which is impeccable. All imbued by an essence of knowledge and experience in the beauty field, the native New Yorker has been a beauty skincare expert since she was young.
Jacobs and her daughter, Rochelle, share a passion for all things aesthetically pleasant and during our intimate interview, both discussed their beauty routines. Rochelle just got a eye surgery needed to have a 20/20 vision as she is a mother of two boys that also works as a successful executive at the June Jacobs skincare company. “I just want to avoid the wait, as we age the development of cataracts in our eyes will now allow me to do this as successfully, my vision is crucial.” While wearing Chanel and Zimmerman, she hugs with tenderness the mother that raised her, the well-known philanthropist June Jacobs.
June is also an avid traveler. She loves to have serenity in her life, her grandkids are a big part of her life, and her daughter is extremely precious to her. Having been involved in the beauty industry, Jacobs was also a single mother, raising her stunning daughter Rochelle. She has helped chair many charity events including the Breast Cancer Research Fund luncheon, acknowledging to the crowd of sophisticated ladies of Manhattan society, the perils of not having regular checkups. “Stress is also a great factor. We need to take care of ourselves,” mentioned Jacobs while sipping a nice afternoon latte.
That, compounded with her philanthropic work, makes the duo a star. "We have opposite views of what we want or like, but in the end, we come to a rational conclusion of what is best for our customers. The passion we share for our commitment to charity is a constant challenge," reflected Rochelle, who has also helped her mother for the last few decades. When they go on stage to speak about their close relationship, you can perceive the natural bond between mother and daughter that makes it unique, special, and emotional.
For Jacobs, back then, the industry was a completely different scenario. "In today's world, you wouldn't be able to do it," commented the visionary with a calm demeanor from the comfort of her Upper East Side residence. "There are so many
“I WANT TO BE a role model FOR MY DAUGHTER “

dermatologists with their own skincare line. It's too competitive, but our track record solidified us at one of the top skincare companies worldwide."
"What makes us unique is that we developed our own lab. We can create a brand from start to finish rather quickly." On May 9th, June Jacobs is being honored by the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation with the Women's of Distinction Luncheon, which for the past 31 years has become the top fundraiser for the organization, raising over $34 million dollars for research and education programs.
"It is a great honor and opportunity to be a part of this. I am very proud of supporting this very prestigious foundation. In the past, Rochelle and I were honored by the BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Fund) as we both were victims of breast cancer. They had found a lump in one of my breasts; thankfully, it was detected early enough to prevent it from spreading. I've been in remission for more than a decade. It's so important to pay attention to your body. Be healthy. My mother died from pancreatic cancer; it was an excruciating process for us as a family. I took her to some of the best doctors, and the chemotherapy was also very painful for her. Anyone walking in those shoes undergoes an extenuating process where healing takes time and energy."
Jacobs also expressed her commitment to helping others. At one of the hospitals located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the June Jacobs products are found in each room. “No matter where you are from, a VIP or the regular person that comes in for medical support, everyone gets our soaps, cleansing formulas in each room. We want people to feel good, and this is our commitment to providing great things for all, excellent products make us feel better.”
With this profound sentiment, Jacobs feels like family and friends are what matters at the end of the day. "My family is everything to me. My friends are also close, and I treat them like family. Being a hard worker, I know what women go through, tending to all the factors of daily life. From raising children to working and solidifying a great business. It's all about hard work," expressed the sophisticated Jacobs. It’s relevant to reiterate that not one thing is out of place at the June Jacobs residence. The portraits of her loved ones are beautifully framed. A nice picture of the Hotel Du Cap is a reminder that life can also be enjoyed and celebrated. "That is my favorite spot in the world." She loves to take long swims in the mediterranean sea, it is her happy place where she spends one month in the summer.
27 26 artbodegamagazine.com
Mother and daughter give a smile to the camera.
Her philanthropic pursuits keep expanding as well. "We make sure to give back. We recently had a close friend going through the pain of cancer. I am praying for her. It is so devastating, but you need to do research. I recommended her to my own doctors. It's never an easy process; it's terrible," suggested Jacobs, who individually assesses some of the most painful episodes that some of her co-workers or family friends go through. Creating a community of support and self-help is invaluable. While her beauty brands employ one hundred experts in the field of beauty and wellness with a profound DNA of veritable products and ingredients that are seriously vetted in the scientific community, the matriarch makes sure her daily routine is compiled of the tiny things in life that makes us happy. From the glass doors that open to her beautiful terrace, she can wake up every morning to eat her breakfast with the natural light that reflects on the Manhattan skyline.
Her office is located just a few blocks south near midtown Manhattan. From this Park Avenue high rise, Jacobs handles the operational side of it like a masterpiece. "At the moment, you need to master the evolution of a beauty product and the social media, advertising, marketing, and distribution. We are found in hundreds of retailers, and people know our products for their quality and deliverables."
Rochelle takes care of the company's technical side. "She is more into the technical side of things as we speak. We have offices on the executive floor, and we all do our part for the company," commented Jacobs. The grandmother of two boys is a proud family matriarch who supports her friends, her loyal customers, and her family above all.
Jacobs is considered a pioneer in the beauty industry. Thirty-three years ago, she started her skincare lines with her current business partner, Peter Thomas Roth which include different brands: June Jacobs, Naturally Serious by June Jacobs and Peter Thomas Roth. The conglomerate keeps growing in an everchanging climate of new products being developed, branded, and marketed daily. With great pride she continues to show the world her soft and elegant side of the women who do right by supporting legitimate charities in the country.

Favorite activity in Miami? I live in Fisher Island so gathering with my friends and family for a great outdoor lunch is one of my favorite things.
Describe your social scene? I love to meet with other lady friends who love to give and entertain as well. One beautiful thing about Miami is the diversity of activities each day. We can go to an amazing Gala but also attend a store opening in the Design District.
Favorite Charities? So many but I do love the Vizcaya Luncheon event, it’s a must! Another passion of yours? People see me constantly at events, entertaining and being entertained but I am also a serious real estate professional who started many years ago in Fisher Island, that’s how I grew in my field and I’m extremely passionate about real estate. How would you describe the social scene in Miami?
Vibrant, fun and exciting.
Your favorite charity and why? Human trafficking of all kinds is easily the number one problem in the world. I support numerous charities in this arena.
We just won over 31 official selections, nominations and awards for the short film we just finished “ Sisters of Vengeance “ bringing awareness to the global problem of sex trafficking.
Favorite dining spots? Miami now has so many fabulous restaurants just some of my favorite are Joe’s Stone Crabs, Dirty French, Edge, Queen and LPM.
If you would have to throw the ultimate party where would you do it and what would be the theme? Vizcaya is such a magnificent property. The ultimate party would be there with a gilded theme of everything exquisite.
Plans for the summer? France - The Cannes Film Festival, F1 in Monaco, Greek islands and Venice. It will be a busy summer. I love to travel.
A secret about yourself that nobody knows?
I love creating. Any form of art. Everyone knows me as a real estate guru but I’m also an artist in my spare time. I find it very relaxing.
Favorite activity in Miami? Exploring the vibrant art scene, from Wynwood Walls to Art Basel. Miami's excitement for newcomers stems from its fusion of cultures, beautiful beaches, and endless entertainment options.
Favorite charity? I appreciate the work of organizations like Feeding South Florida, addressing hunger issues in the community.
Favorite dining spots? Versailles Restaurant for Cuban cuisine and Joe's Stone Crab for seafood. What would be the ultimate party for you?
A beach bonfire with a tropical theme, complete with live music and gourmet food trucks.
Best events recently? Miami Music Week and the South Beach Wine & Food Festival.
A secret about you? I ride horses and practice Pilates.

Your favorite activity in Delray Beach, Florida? Grabbing an outdoor table at the many fabulous restaurants in Atlantic Avenue.
Describe the social scene in Delray? It has more of a casual vibe than its cities to the north and south because it has always been known as a seaside village. People are driving up in their sexy fashions from Miami to visit our high end restaurants.
Favorite charity? My favorite charity is Big Dog Ranch Rescue. I love dogs and they are the largest no kill and no cage rescue non profit in America. They also have a puppytown where pregnant mamas can nurse their babies and they will keep a soldier’s dog free of charge if they are called to serve the country.
Favorite dining spots? Casa L Aqua Ristorante Italiano in Delray Beach.
Best events of the season? The Tico Torres Celebrity Golf Classic with Havana Nights at the PGA National Resort benefiting Big Dog Ranch Rescue.

What is Miami for you? I love this city, I am constantly impressed by the growth of this town. It is remarkable, the new restaurants, also it is a shopping destination and the Design District is fantastic and keeps growing. Tell me about your charity Art 4 Causes? We just raised thousands of dollars by auctioning off several great art pieces while supporting United Hatzalah. For more information go to www.art4causes.org
Favorite charity? Wine Women & Shoes, I was able to organize this year’s event in Miami which took place at the Rubell Museum. This event was a benefit for Breakthrough Miami and one of the sponsors was Louboutin, which is one of my favorite brands. Miami is so glamorous, the impact it has nationwide is tremendous, we are full of color, art, great restaurants and what else can you expect. Secret that people don’t know about you? That I’m a sculptor and an art collector. I make beautiful bronze sculptures and started my career in Mexico but have sold around the country. Miami is now my place of residence.

Favorite dining spots? Everything from poppin’ Papi’s Steak to trendy Mila’s, outdoor Call Me Gabby to classic Cipriani, and the newcomers Delilah’s & CasaDonna… so many… so inviting.
What makes a good host? A host needs to be an orchestrator. And your guests are your orchestra. Place them wisely and work from the same musical theme. (Don’t place the soprano next to the guy who bangs the drum!)
A host has to be interesting. And the key to being interesting is to be interested.
If you would have to throw the ultimate party where would you do it and what would be the theme? For our upcoming Tea for a Cause event, our theme is the Gilded Age. We are having the event at the Biltmore, which we are re-imagining to fit the era.

EQUESTRIAN NEWS
Four years as Equestrian Editor, I see how social media & technology change the magazine business. Art Bodega Publisher Rebeca Herrero and I agree there is a place for high luxury market clientele to congregate and see where other niche industries alike overlap.
The Equestrian Industry is a luxury sport due to the cost of high-performance horses, cost of training with the best horse/rider trainers and other factors, like stabling and show costs. The horse world gets criticized for being a “rich” sport. Success of top riders is not that one has to be born into wealth, but that one has to genuinely love horses and love to care for them. As a former Grand Prix Dressage competitor, Title Sponsor of USEF National Championships & Olympic, World Cup Qualifiers, Owner of GumBits, an international horse training treat, Mother-Trainer of Grand Champion junior rider (Kat) in multi equestrian disciplines, I have perspective from all different angles with direct or indirect experiences at the highest level of training & showing in Dressage, Pony Hunters, Junior Hunters & Equitation, Three Day Eventing, and Show Jumping and in international competition primarily Germany.
Likewise, the magazine business, many have gone 100% online. But for the same reason, people want to touch & feel beautiful glossy paper. Art Bodega features their clients in elegant photographic pages.
The equine industry is a luxury segment that non horse people want to connect. Look at top horse show management magnets like Wellington International bringing 40 weeks of horse competition to Wellington, Florida. Their strategy includes attracting big audiences to come watch, shop and dine.
Famous equestrians from around the world competing leaves the spectators excited for international performance. Names of Olympians and future climbers touch the hearts of horse and non-horse people alike. The European elite show jumpers & dressage riders come in winter to Wellington for top prize money, international judging, and warm weather. They stay world ranked and fade the foreign lines differentiating American riders. This phenomenon is a major windfall for US competitors that can sharpen skills competing against the best and/or training with the best trainers that come over.
With the diminishing lines between countries as foreign riders compete together, it’s easier to connect and commute with one’s horses to Europe. Look at the best Horse Show organizers like Germans Paul Schockemöhle, Ullrich Kasselmann and son Francois’s, famous Horses & Dreams, Future Champions & more in Hagen. Or the famous six-time German Olympian Ludger Beerbaum running European Championships in his Riesenbeck operation. The world’s equestrian elite gather at top dressage and show jumping shows that provide entertainment for the whole family.
It stands to reason that like anything else, if a person works hard, has sheer grit & determination, one can excel in the horse world or any business they so desire. Many successful riders start at a very young age, 6-8 years old, growing up in the sport. Opportunities are boundless. One can work their way up by mucking stalls in exchange for lessons, starting out training their young horses from the pricey record buying one based on experience and show record. Some travel to Europe to be a working student. The bottom line - luxury is an acquired taste like a choice to purchase Mercedes over Ford. It would be a miss if Art Bodega did not include Equestrians in their luxury target.
As a commercial real estate executive in the ‘80s of shopping malls, I recall when the concept of internet shopping hit the real estate markets. Owners grew concerned about how internet sales would affect their bottom line and risk physical store closures. Last year e-commerce was 15.6% of total US retail sales, $7.24 trillion. While brick & mortar is in decline, the savvy successful retailers will adjust to new models to take a piece of the pie. Shopping is a form of entertainment. People want to get out, touch & feel products, wine & dine in beautiful spaces. In the end, the physical businesses, internet will not become obsolete.
Last month we featured the exclusive Art Bodega Equestrian Wellington issue, photographed by Nigel Barker celebrity photographer and former Judge of the Iconic America’s Next Top Model. We showcased ten unique horse people, from the youngest of 14 to older, from competitors to Olympic judges and to Olympic team leader, ponies to hunter horses to dressage to the Breyer model horse, and US to Germany to Australia.
My point, Art Bodega is — maybe a “reality” magazine — with photographic allure of star Nigel Barker, who is a world class picture taker of high fashion, gets paid a fortune by couture luxury houses, hosts and participated with regular want to be models, as reality tv. The English Gentleman Nigel is outsmarting us all to shoot regular equestrians. They are elite in their sport, but not so much compared to Nigel’s world of high fashion. His shots become namesake pieces for those lucky to be in his view. But in my view, we think his shots will be his keepsakes of rising stars and already made Olympians.
While times are ever changing, I applaud Rebeca and Nigel for having a vision for promoting horsey clientele and for bringing out “reality” characters with their horses to the growing luxury masses who love horses!

INDIAN RIVER STATE COLLEGE NAMES
BILL MARINE 2024 ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
Indian River State College has honored William “Bill” Marine with the prestigious Indian River State College Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which recognizes entrepreneurial and business leadership. This is a key component of the Dan K. Richardson Entrepreneurship Program established by the Indian River State College Foundation to promote awareness and appreciation of free enterprise.
This award acknowledges individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision and success in entrepreneurship. Bill Marine's entrepreneurial journey has been marked by resilience, creativity and a profound impact on the local business landscape.
“Bill Marine exemplifies this award,” declares Indian River State College President Dr. Timothy Moore. “Bill’s professional achievements are both remarkable and inspirational. His personal manner is best described as ‘magical’ and his extraordinary character is one to emulate. We are proud to honor Bill Marine with this Year’s Award.”
While Marine’s entrepreneurial drive and business savvy had already started at a young age, he earned an associate degree at Indian River State College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Citrus/Business at Florida Southern College. Bill grew VenMar, an agricultural irrigation design and construction company, to employ more than 250 people. Ven-Mar, a leader in developing water use reduction technology utilizing drip-irrigation, earned numerous industry awards and was recognized as the largest agricultural irrigation contractor in the United States. Bill subsequently sold it and ‘retired’ at the age of 32.
Marine continued his career launching, leading, buying and selling companies in varied roles and sectors. He was Vice President of Agricultural Services International and President of Industrial Services Inc. Bill went on to enjoy a fulfilling career spanning citrus trading, commercial development and other businesses.
With an unwavering conviction that it is everyone’s responsibility to give back to the community, Marine has been devoted to numerous charitable organizations locally, nationally and internationally. Most recently, Bill is a Director and Immediate Past Chair of Indian River State College Foundation.
“Bill Marine is a leader and entrepreneur who not only grows businesses, he also uplifts communities through philanthropy,” adds Dr. Moore. “His visionary leadership of the Indian River State College Foundation’s development of the Promise Program is an example of his impact. The Promise Program provides opportunity to every high school graduate
in our district and is a resounding success unmatched by any other state college in Florida. It is an honor to recognize Bill Marine as our Entrepreneur of the Year.”
Bill is married to wife, Patricia, father to three and a proud grandfather of seven.
