IVANKA Gaudi is a floor and wall covering with a motive designed by the famous Catalan architect, Antoni Gaudí and produced from high performance IVANKA concrete with a well mastered technology. Its visual appearance reflects the individualized and distinctive style of Gaudí’s Catalan modernism.
High performance concrete - reinforced with high density fiber, surface protected for water and stain resistance. The concrete produced by IVANKA is an extremely persistent and resistant material, suitable for indoors and outdoors, domestic and public use.
By high quality production IVANKA applies both the traditional characteristics of the concrete material and the features of Gaudí’s organic architecture on its tiles with three different thicknesses and many available colors.
Concrete is a breathing material with all its inhomogenous surfaces and cloudy appearances and we love it as such. Being a hygroscopic material moisture is being absorbed and released from concrete. The plays of color tone difference between each pigment-dyed flaster or even on one surface make it a living material completely different from dead and sterile plastic-kinds. Efflorescence is a specialty of all cement-bonded materials and is a natural and completely harmless feature of the product. The aging of the concrete product you purchase is a natural and aesthetically pleasing characteristic that influences its apperance in a graceful compass.

THICKNESS DIFFERENCE The deviation, in percent, of the average thickness of each tile from the average thickness of 10 specimens: ± 10% CRACKS/BROKEN PIECES Any visible cracks are considered as defects, but due to our quality inspection policies and our strict packing methods those cracks can solely be results of shipping. Therefore we highly advise checking products throughoutly on delivery. HAIRLINE CRACKS Cobweb phenomenon is a natural characteristic of fiber reinforced concrete, therefore this doesn’t cause any major cracks on the surface. OTHER INJURIES Visible chipping are considered as defects, but due to our quality inspection policies and our strict packing methods those chippings can solely be results of shipping. Therefore we highly advise checking products throughoutly on delivery. Due to the special structure of concrete, it may contain small inclusions even on the edges of the product. These inclusions should be considered as a natural characteristic therefore they don’t qualify as defects and definitely not as chipping.
HOLES AND AIRBUBBLES On sleek surfaces the maximum number of holes and/or bubbles are 150 bubbles per square meter, the diameter of each bubble is not more than 2mm. SURFACE Sleek surface is not necessarily homogeneous. Any cloudy or slightly spotty surface shouldn’t be considered as a defect. However, a minimum of 95% of the tiles shall be free from visible defects, that would impair the appearance of the major area of tiles. COLOUR Our products are colored with pigments, therefore there is no abrasion of color. Color tone difference in appearance between one piece and another: V3. This number provides high shade variations. The intensity of each color may vary from tile to tile and may appear different from another piece. Reinforcement IVANKA Gaudis are high performance concrete pieces, reinforced with monofilament polypropylene fibers, which fibers are surface treated to avoid dispersion. Surface treatment Every piece is surface treated with a special sealer in order to protect the material against stains and to facilitate further handling. Also, it gives an extra UV protection.

Spread primer on the surface. We recommend SOPRO GD 749 for this step.
Concrete tiles are heavier than ceramic tiles. Concrete tiles should be handled with care prior to and during installation. Avoid harshly putting down or dropping them. Due to the weight of concrete, when installing on walls you will need to support each tile to avoid slipping.
Step 4 If adhesive oozes up between the tiles, clean out the excess before it dries. Immediately wipe any adhesive from the face of the tiles with a solvent-soaked sponge or rag. Adhesives begin to set firmly in 20 to 30 minutes.
When tiling on walls, make sure that the supporting structure is firm, and can bear the heavier tiles. Use 1 cm thick tiles. If you are tiling onto new plaster, make sure it is completely dry. You should also check the manufacturer’s instructions, as the plaster may need a coat of primer before tiling. As a guide, you’ll need to allow 2 weeks on a skim and 6 weeks on full bond coat and skim.

/ GROUTING
Step 3 Spread the adhesive with the trowel’s notched edge, combing it out in beaded ridges. We suggest using SOPRO No. 101 flexible tile adhesive for the best results. Use 0.5 cm adhesive under the whole surface of each tile.
Step 5 After you have installed several rows of tiles, set them into the adhesive with the tile leveler and a mallet. Step 6 After laying all the whole tiles that will fit in the allotted area, start cutting and adhering the tiles around the perimeter of the room.
Use SOPRODUR HF 8 as a flexible grout between the tiles. Try to make gaps the same size on every side, use plastic spacers. We suggest 1-2 mm gaps. Step 1 Mix grout to the consistency of a thick paste, and apply it by forcing the grout between tiles with an applicator gun. Step 2 Hold the float almost perpendicular to the floor. Wipe away excess grout from the surface of the tiles. Take care to pack all joints. Use a small brush to shape the grout. Step 3 After 20 minutes, wipe away all excess grout with a damp sponge. Keep your sponge clean by rinsing it often. Follow the grout manufacturer’s instructions for curing and cleaning the grout. Step 4 After the grout has cured for a week, apply silicone grout sealer with a small paintbrush to help prevent grout discoloration.

For wall covering use 1 cm thick Gaudi tiles. Prepare the surface of the wall. The expansion joints have to be applied on the tiling layout as well. Apply SOPRO GD 749 primer then use SOPRO FKM 600 Silver adhesive. Grouting is not neccessary.
For flooring use at least 2 cm thick Gaudi tiles. Prepare the surface of the floor. The expansion joints have to be applied on the tiling layout as well. Apply SOPRO GD 749 primer then use SOPRO FKM Silver adhesive.
Prepare the supporting structure of the access floor. Flaster must laid on a solid and flat base. For flooring use at least 2 cm thick Gaudi tiles. Lay one layer PE foil on the base, then prepare a 3-6 cm thin screed layer. Make 25 m2 sections only, prepare expansion joints between them. Prepare the surface with SOPRO GD 749 primer then use SOPRO FKM Silver adhesive. Place and level the Gaudi tiles, according to the dilatations and tiling layout.

Care & maintenance
Loading For a safe load and shipping, do not stack pallets on each other unless stated otherwise and avoid stacking any other goods on pallets. Fix pallets on truck as well as possible to avoid injuries during shipping.
We believe that the aging of your concrete product is a natural and aesthetically pleasing characteristic of the unique design. As with all solid surfaces, concrete will eventually come into contact with something that will either stain, scratch, or spot the surface. Below we will address the common elements of this natural aging process and will provide some guidelines related what you can expect as a new concrete product owner. Due to aging or temperature fluctuation natural hairline cracks on the surface might occur, which does not change the quality of the concrete material. IVANKA Concrete products are treated with a special sealer to be resistant to most stains. This sealer provides a high degree of heat and scratch protection and a low resistance to acid spotting. It does not guarantee a full protection against any liquids, acids, oils or flizzy fluids.
Unloading For a safe unload use only forklift or truck with a back-lifter. Always check the weight-limit of the lifter you use for unload and moving and be sure the weight limit is proper for the pallet. Drive the vehicle you use for unload slowly. When the pallet needs to be stored outdoors, cover it with water-resistant covering. Proper storage of tiles Try to avoid putting the unpacked tiles harshly on the ground to avoid chipping or other injuries. Store each tiles horizontally after unpacked. If they need to be stored stacking on each other, rotate the tiles faceto-face or back-to-backway of facing to each other. Do not stack the tiles on each other higher than 50cm.
It is very important to care for them properly as directed to ensure their looking great over time. Basic maintenance advice for IVANKA concrete products includes the following:
1. Try to avoid dropping anything on them. Mechanical impacts can cause cracking, which can lead to other problems. 2. Try to clean up spills within a reasonable time frame. Depending on the spill this timeframe is usually several minutes or less. Acidic substances (lemon juice) will spot the surface of your product if they remain in place for a prolonged period of time. 3. Basic cleaning. Make sure to clean up spills as quickly as possible and do routine cleaning as needed. Generally, soapy, warm water and a clean cloth is all that’s necessary to keep your product looking good. Avoid using abrasive items to clean these products. Instead, use a normal sponge or cloth (preferably micro-fiber). 4. Avoid harsh chemicals (for example lacquer thinner, acetone, denaturated alcohol), cleansers containing ammonia or bleach, or abrasive cleaners and pads when cleaning your products. Mild cleaners are the best way to clean your surfaces.
