WEAVING THE UNIVERSE SERIES IV- 1 METER X 1 MIXTA TECHNICAL METRO 2016 "... I have painted these pieces not to say what I already knew, but looking for what I only sensed. The meaning of my own life, the essence. The presence of the interlocutor or spectator bases and strengthens the question about one's own identity. It is there where the possibility of the encounter is born. I hope through my painitings to know better who I am and that they can also (the others), dimension who they are. I think, with Buber, that the solitude of creation is a door and that the silence of isolation can reveal an unexpected vision where, the relationship with oneself is formulated "... mysteriously in dealings with the mystery ..." The paintings are works gestated in a real and conscious plane. They are basic symbols that contain internal processes born from the unconscious. The universe in these symbol images contains a self-knowledge and resizes one's own history as a liberating possibility. Creation is a process that is always transforming its rhythm. Pupal and new universes weaver Blanca Fontanarrosa a teacher in every way. From her experience as a teacher for thirty years and Dean A.I. from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Costa Rica, to her passion for research and the multiplication of knowledge. Multiple techniques and languages, being the first in Costa Rica to build art installations in the eighties. The ability to integrate visual languages, or at least many of them, is an admirable virtue that certain privileged human beings have. Blanca Fontanarrosa is one of these people who from the beginning experimented with several techniques, and in all of them she obtained amazing results, because her scaffolding is drawing, being the line the thread of thought. Blanca is not an artist who paints, or sculpts, she is a thinker who expresses herself visually. Blanca weaves her imaginary world spinning her life along with her visual expression. She arrived from Argentina very young, bringing with her the materic art look that started there in America, many years in advance of the establishment of Informalism and neo-figuration in Central America. She studied "irregularly", as she says, with figures of those movements in Mendoza, where she sneaked into the classrooms of the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design of the University of Cuyo, despite her family, who believed that she was studying English . The influences of Zdravko DuÄ?melić, the Croatian artist famous for his illustrations of Borges's books; Carlos Alonso, the artist of social trends that marked an era and Alicia Farkas, one of the legendary Argentine textile artists, left their mark on the visual thought of Fontanarrosa, making possible to still recognize the traces of this legacy in her last art production, after twenty years of continuous work in her workshop. The paintings of her recent series, ENTANGLING UNIVERSES and PUPA OF LIGHT, demonstrate a great stylistic coherence in relation to the artworks of her past. She has managed to evolve, renewing herself, but at the same time maintaining the aesthetic constants that have characterized her: she makes few concessions to the visual habit that the painitng fashions in art have formed in the spectators; she narrates, expresses, discusses, symbolizes and represents directly from her meridian authenticity. Her recent artworks propose "handwritten forms", they are texts without words. Books without covers or back covers. Poems without content. Fontanarrosa's drawings become associations of strokes, threads of life, which weave potential realities and cross her recent abstractions on the canvas. (Text on the occasion of the exhibition "Oroboros, Infinite Cycle", held at GalerĂ­a Die Augen, Guatemala, in 2010). "... When it comes to break academicisms, I remember Blanca Fontanarrosa, my friend and colleague at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Costa Rica, who always manifested herself in the present context and for this reason, her paintings belong not only to the Mesoamerican regional space, but to the broad sphere of international art. Her painting colors are subtle and accurate on abstract shapes that bring us images that reflect the waters of the rivers, the old walls of our streets and the cuts of roads. In her art assemblages are present the earth and vegetation, in addition to multiple objects with which she worked the materic painting and then her conceptual installations, far from the traditional academy, both in the past and in the present. Fontanarrosa always focused, knows where to investigate in the art of our time. In art there is always much to learn, and our artist, being a teacher by vocation, still propagates her knowledge and experience with her own artwork, because art for art does not tell us anything. Art when it is professional, does not have time nor space. Fontanarrosa is already part of the contemporary art of our Isthmus, without stardom, without seeking fame, because her step in art is firm and with a defined route, a visual path that is a substantial part of our Central America. "
