Typeface: Helvetica / Helvetica Neue

Using a neutral typeface with a large family allows you to establish visual hierarchy by differentiating visual information using italics and different weights.

Typography Rules

Decorative Elements

4

Never use justify, use right align or left align. Justify creates uneven gaps.

Use basic shapes & lines to create pattern as a background and express the mood for the event you are creating the poster for.

Simple Color Guide

Keep to 2 colors for the background or it will be too messy and visually disturbing. Black Authority, neutral

White Pure, neutral

Blue Corporate, male, calm

Purple Mysterious

Green Nature, peace

Pink Female

Red Energy, anger

Exporting and printing Due to incompatibility and version differences between MIcrosoft Words, it is adviced that you export your completed poster in PDF format before printing it on another computer. Your saved copy of your poster using the .doc or .docx format might cause elements within the poster to move out of their alignment which affects printing.
