The Magic 8 Method The Magic 8 Technique is a wonderful method to sew eight half square triangle units at once. 1. Determine the finished size of your half square triangle. In this case I am going to make 6” finished half square triangles for my Travel Blanket. 2. Add 7/8” to the measurement: 6” + 7/8” = 6 7/8” 3. Multiply your total by 2: 6 7/8” x 2 = 13 3/4” 4. Cut two (2) 13 7/8” x 13 7/8” squares (Fabric Used CAP-V-2009 and PE-431) 5. Place both pieces together face to face, and draw diagonal lines, and stitch a quarter of an inch of each side.
6. Cut vertically right down the center.

7. Cut horizontally both pieces.
8. Cut on the drawn lines.
9. Open and press your eight squares. They should measure 6 1/2” x 6 1/2”, so when you use them in your project the finished size will be 6” x 6”.

Join me in making a disappearing four patch block featuring Capsules Fabric. All you need are four 5” squares of fabric to make this easy fun block! Lay out four 5” squares. Sew square A to square C to complete row 1. Sew square C to square B to make row 2. (Diagram 1). Sew rows together making sure to press seams in alternating directions. You have just created a four patch block! (Diagram 2)

You should have nine pieces in total, turn your middle pieces around so the same fabric are no longer touching. (Diagram 4). Sew each row together and then sew all your rows together. Pressing seams in alternating directions. (Diagram 5).
