Bias Tape Appliqué We will be learning about bias tape, how to make it and appliqué it, using the colorful and adventurous Lugu Collection. The fabrics featured in this tutorial are Konstelacija Valge (Fabric A), Tekstiil Emberglow (Fabric B), Konstelacija Maagia (Fabric C), Tekstiil Solarflame (Fabric D), Sleep Tight Daydream (Fabric E), Efflorescent Vivid (Fabric F), Sova Dayglow (Fabric G), and Cool Foliage (Fabric H).

1. Cut Your Strips: Choose your fabric and cut your strips on the bias (on a 45 degree angle from the edge of the fabric). This is because the fabric has a little give on the diagonal which allows it to curve naturally when appliquéing it to your project.

2. Iron and Fold: For this step I used a 1” bias tape maker, so I had to cut my strips 2” wide, to get 1” strips, then I folded the strips again to get a final width of 1/2” for a more delicate look.
3. Prepare Background and AppliquĂŠ: Once you have your background, batting, and backing all pinned up, start sewing your strips. In this case, I improvised as I stitched; however, you can also use this technique to make letters, or create outlined designs like flowers or geometrical figures.
4. Admire Your Work ;) : Once you are done, appreciate what you did, and think about all the other things you can create with this technique.
5. Finish Your Project : Finish your project and enjoy it. I hope you take the time to experiment with bias tape. It is easy, simple, and gives your products a finished look.t
