SELINE SKOUG
Arlington,Vermont Seline Skoug’s images are notable for sensitive light and an authentic sense of place. While she could be categorized as a regional landscape photographer, her images of rivers, farms and forests of southern Vermont and eastern New York do not resemble typical postcard scenes of New England. Rather, she works in the margins Âbetween season, weather and time of day. As a result, her images have a serene, painterly quality, evoking quiet moments within a working landscape. Seline began shooting pictures as a young woman traveling to her ancestral home in Norway. Since then, rarely without a camera in hand, she has captured landscapes from the Catskills to the Adirondacks, the beaches of Saint Croix and on to the rivers and fields of Vermont. Along the way, her work has been shaped by her appreciation of the natural world and her love of people and community. Seline lives along the Battenkill River in Arlington,Vermont. She is a practicing nurse, a volunteer EMT and serves on the boards of several Bennington County nonprofit organizations.
