About IUFRO IUFRO is “theâ€? global network for forest science cooperation. It unites more than 15,000 scientists in almost 700 Member Organizations in over 110 countries, and is a member of ICSU. Scientists cooperate in IUFRO on a voluntary basis. Division 7 - Forest Health This Division includes research on: physiological and genetic interactions between trees and harmful biotic impacts, including resistance mechanisms; biological and applied aspects of tree diseases; environment/ pathogen interactions in forest decline; the biology and control of forest tree insects; and impacts of air pollution on forest trees and forest ecosystems, including diagnosis, monitoring, biology, genetics and treatment of polluted forests and other wooded lands. 7.03.05 - Ecology and Management of Bark and Wood boring insects The 7.03.05 Working Party focuses on bark and wood boring insects that infest a wide variety of conifer and hardwood tree species. These insects are important agents of disturbance in wildland and urban forests worldwide. The goal of this Working Party is to increase and advance knowledge on the both the ecology and management of these insect species, many of which are known to be cross-continent exotic invaders. We stimulate communication and co-operation among scientists, forest managers, and students world-wide. The Working Party provides opportunities to integrate across scientific disciplines, and connections with other IUFRO Working Parties are a priority. Meetings are held every 1-2 years. People interested in the Working Party should contact the Coordinators. 7.03.10 - Methodology of Forest Insect and Disease Survey in Central Europe WP 7.03.10 was formed in 1998 in Poland, after the preliminary meeting held in PĂsek, Czechia in 1997, to bring together the specialists involved in forest insect and disease survey and advisory service of countries within the central Europe mainly (the forests with similar natural conditions). Our mission is to exchange information on different survey techniques and compare and discuss forest pest and disease situation in particular countries and in transboundary areas, as well as exchange information about the recent research in forest protection. Even though the objectives of workshops are specific, particular sessions are focused to selected theme, in between the main aims are still: >> Discussing forest insect and disease survey methods with strategies for integrated pest management, >> Exchanging information on methods of advisory service in forest protection, >> Sharing information about actual pest and disease occurrence situation as well as about new harmful organisms in forests, >> Presenting research activity in forest research of unit members.
