PRESIDENT’S WELCOME ADDRESS Dear colleagues, On behalf of the Board of the Hellenic Neurosurgical Society and the Organising Committee, we have the pleasure of inviting you to the 28th Annual Hellenic Congress of Neurosurgery and the Joint Meeting with the Neurosurgical Societies of Bulgaria and Serbia, to be held between 19 & 22 June in Kavala, Greece. The Annual Hellenic Congress, the most important event organised by our Society will bring together significant Greek and European colleagues aiming to share their scientific knowledge and good case practices with lectures and announcements. The scientific program includes round table-and thematic session discussions for exchanging opinions and highlighting the different views, practices and in particular the latest achievements related to neuroscience and more specifically neurosurgery. Oral and e-poster announcements will provide the opportunity to our colleagues to showcase their capabilities and the results of their work and enhance their scientific profile. The Hellenic Congress will be followed by a Joint Meeting with our colleagues from Bulgaria and Serbia organized in cooperation with the National Neurosurgical Societies of both countries. We believe that this meeting will not only provide the space for exchanging knowledge and experiences but will contribute to the development of scientific partnerships with our neighboring countries. With our best wishes for a fruitful Congress, we are inviting you to the beautiful city of Kavala.

The President,

Emmanouil Chatzidakis

E-POSTER GUIDELINES During the 28th Annual Hellenic Congress of Neurosurgery the concept of e-posters will be used. What is an e-poster? E-posters are the electronic version of traditional, printed posters, except that they are now viewable on screen. This new, environmentally-friendly way of presenting posters replaces the traditional printed poster which is a time-consuming, expensive and totally impractical method. The entire process of creating, submitting, managing and presenting posters online will be fully automated from here on in, and posters can be viewed in digital format using the innovative ePostersLive platform, without the need to print them out, transport them and then display them at a specific conference venue. Where and when will the e-posters be presented? There will be desktop computers in an especially laid-out part of the conference venue where delegates will be able to access any e-poster of their choice at any time as often as they want. At the same time, large 55 inch, high definition and high resolution screens will also be installed in the same part of the conference venue instead of the traditional boards used to display printed posters. These will be used to screen e-posters on a rotating schedule. The e-posters will also be available via the internet on the website www.neurosurgerycongress.gr, upon the approval of the respective author. How can one create an e-poster? E-posters can be created using either PosterGenius software, a globally acclaimed software application that allows someone to create impressive, professional-looking posters in just a short time which will be provided free of charge, or any other platform the author prefers, i.e. PowerPoint. The e-posters submission can be completed easy and quickly via internet and the PosterGenius速 pressing a single button or through a three-step guide in case PowerPoint or other software is used. In both cases, authors are informed instantly about the successful submission of their e-poster. For more information as regards e-posters you can contact: support@scigentech.com or call: 25410 25801. ATTENTION Should an abstract is approved as an e-poster by the Scientific committee, more details with regard to the procedure, the creation and submission of the e-Posters, will be sent via email separately to the respective authors.

ACCOMPANYING PERSONS PROGRAMME Saturday, 21 June 2014 Archaeological site of Filippi The ancient theatre of Filippi is an important and remarkable monument, located at the feet of the acropolis and supported on the eastern wall of the city of Filippi. Even though it has sustained many changes throughout the centuries, the theatre still preserves many of its original elements. Opposite the ancient theatre of Filippi there are the ruins of the ancient city. The ancient city took its name in 356 b.c. after the father of Alexander the Great, Filippos the II. Nowadays, the Filippi Festival, one of the most important festivals in Greece, takes place every summer on the site of the ancient theatre. The Excursion includes lunch at a traditional tavern.
