Welcome address Dear Colleagues, It has already been four years since our first meeting on the “Treatment of Epilepsies”. The success of our first meeting motivated us to organize from the 16th to the 18th of May 2014, the second meeting on the “Treatment of Epilepsies”. The scientific program of our meeting focuses to understand basic mechanisms of epileptogenesis, to analyze the diagnostic approach of patients suffering epilepsy, and also to provide the updates of medical and surgical treatments of Epilepsies. Moreover, the purpose of our scientific assembly is to outreach neurologists and primary care physicians, and provide them with a thorough update on the recent advances in the medical but also the surgical treatment of epilepsy. Our goal is also to provide to specialized neuroscientists, involved in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy, the opportunity to review and discuss in detail all recent advances in this field. It would not be an exaggeration to claim that our meeting’s scientific program includes a few of the most world-known epileptologists, neuroradiologists specialized in the field of epilepsy, and many masters of epilepsy surgery. Our speakers will give the opportunity to the participants to understand and at the conclusion of the sessions to learn how to approach and efficiently manage patients with epilepsy. Special emphasis has been given in our meeting’s program to round tables, and also interactive sessions for more vivid and stimulating learning. Finally, the host city of Larissa gives the opportunity for fascinating getaways to the adjacent landscape of the Greek mainland, one of the most exciting parts of Greece. The social events of our meeting will give the opportunity to the participants to make new friends and re-warm old friendships. We are looking forward to welcoming you all in Larissa. Yours faithfully,

Kostas N. Fountas Chairman of the Organizing Committee

Accompanying Person’s Social Programme Excursion to Meteora: A unique place to visit!

We can locate the first traces of their history from the 11th century, when the first hermits settled there. UNESCO has characterised the rock monasteries as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage. Twenty-four of these monasteries were built, despite incredible difficulties, at the time of the great revival of the eremitic ideal in the 15th century. Their 16th-century frescoes mark a key stage in the development of post-Byzantine painting. You will be impressed by the monasteries perched on top of enormous rocks wondering how on earth they built them. In fact the producers of James Bond found the rocks so impressive that they had Roger Moore climbing the stone face in the movie For Your Eyes Only.
