ART. HEART. SMART.

ARTIOSACADEMIES.COM

Starting with the end in mind. It isn’t enough to ask, “What is everyone else doing?” or “How much will it cost?” when the real question is

“What does fully prepared look like for my child?”

WHAT IS ARTIOS? Artios is known as one of the most creative and integrative approaches to educating the whole-hearted child. For over 30 years, in various ways, we’ve been partnering with parents to guide every student to his or her fullest potential in Christ. From the youngest ages through high school, we emphasize the development of a Biblical worldview. A Biblical worldview relates to all areas of life including cultural literacy in the arts and an awareness of how the arts have impacted society. Because Truth manifests itself throughout history in the form of art, events, people, leaders, and leading ideas, it is imperative to contextualize and consume these details, not as stratified subject matter, but as God intended. Every historical milestone, personality, and ideology, is part of the greater story that God is telling throughout history. An Artios education equips students to compare and contrast all ideas and art forms as Truth, or something that stands opposed to Truth. This knowledge frees students to reason, relate, discern, discuss, and express the Truth of scripture. In the process, Truth is shaping their character, building their confidence, and sharpening their conscience. In that moment, true learning and true heart transformation takes place, and it is inspiring and beautiful. ARTIOS / ADJECTIVE / All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be FULLY PREPARED for every good work. II Timothy 3:16-17

Why the Arts and History? We believe that God's Truth is demonstrated throughout history in the form of art, events, people, leaders, and leading ideas. It is imperative to contextualize and consume these ideas, not as stratified subject matter, but as God intended. Every historical milestone, personality, and ideology either demonstrates God's Truth or stands opposed to that Truth.

An Artios education equips students to compare and contrast all ideas and art forms as either Truth, or something that stands opposed to Truth. This knowledge frees students to reason, relate, discern, discuss, and express the Truth of scripture. In the process, God's Truth is shaping their character, building their confidence, and sharpening their conscience.

Assisting Parents, Not Replacing Them God has given parents the responsibility of teaching and training their children. It is our goal to be an extension of the home and to assist, but not replace, homeschool parents. In providing an approach to education that is creative, integrative, and distinctively grounded in a Biblical worldview, students are prepared to function as individuals who can reason and relate all issues of life to the principles found in God's Word.

Artios Plus classes At Artios, we know that every child has their own passion and interests. Artios Plus classes are designed to allow students to more deeply explore these specific passions and interests. Artios Plus classes are normally taken in addition to the regular Academy curriculum. DRAMA CLUB Students in drama club participate in putting on their own Artios production. Past productions include, Beauty and the Beast, Meet Me in St. Louis, Seussical, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Just So, and hundreds of other shows! CHORALE Our choir program goes way beyond just singing together. Students in chorale learn to understand music and experience its power! Our chorales sing classical, sacred, jazz, broadway hits, and more. Choirs are available for elementary, middle school, and high school aged students and many participate in choir festivals and competitions. FILM/VIDEO Lights, Camera, Action! Our film and video classes allow students to harness the power of film/video and learn how to create films and documentaries for the Glory of God.

Plus class offerings vary with each Artios location.

Elementary / Middle School Elementary and middle school students are full of curiosity. They ask questions like, who, what, when, where, and of course, WHY. Other educational philosophies would have you believe that elementary students ought to be taught the “Who” and “What” and to wait to teach the “Why” until high school. We think that’s putting a lid on your student's potential. An Artios education equips students to reason, relate, discern, discuss, and express Truth from the very beginning. That starts in our elementary program. In the Artios elementary program students take five “core” classes. These classes include Literature, History, Art, Music, and Drama. In addition to the Academy of Arts and History program, students can also enroll in optional math and science classes as well as other Artios Plus Classes.

Classes in Focus Area of the Arts Classes in Focus Area of the Arts

High school Many homeschooling parents are afraid of homeschooling through high school. But truthfully, homeschooling through high school is often a parent's most joyful part of the homeschooling journey. Sure, some of the subjects might be scary, but that is why Artios exists. We want to come along aside parents and assist them in their home schooling journey. When a student gets to high school, things begin to change. A high school student's interests begin to be more focused and they have a desire to go deeper into certain subjects. That is why the Artios Academy of Arts and History high school program is structured slightly differently than our elementary and middle school programs. We know high school students are ready to be more focused. Students in the high school Academy of Arts and History program take five classes, History, Literature, Worldview, and two or three specialized arts classes in their areas of interest. This helps to prepare the student for entry into the Artios Conservatory program if they so desire.

Our minds should be filled with God’s ideas before interacting with the culture. Being grounded in Biblical principles enables us to interact with the culture, but not accommodate it. This approach is what sets all Artios Academy and Conservatory programs apart while ensuring a safe and appropriate environment.

Artios Conservatory* an intensive arts practicum for high school students in 9th – 12th grade.

Students involved in the Conservatory program benefit from a focused class scope and sequence in their areas of interest. Smaller class size and individual attention provide for a unique environment for coaching, discipling, and mentoring. Hands-on applied learning and apprenticeship opportunities make this a great program for students discovering and mastering skills with a consideration for a specific future in the arts as a ministry, past time or profession. Artios Conservatory offers a distinctive approach to the arts by requiring each student to participate in a yearly worldview class. It is our desire to prepare students in their area of giftedness and equip them with a Biblical worldview for all areas of life, including the arts and academics. For more information on your local Conservatory program, please contact your local campus director. *Artios Conservatory is only offered at select campuses.
