The City of Fort Myers recognizes the importance of the arts. Grants are available for individuals and organizations who make a meaningful contribution to the arts and culture of the city.
ART IS A CABARET tart out with your rough sketches. Decide S what research materials you will need. I used an actual derby hat for my reference and watched a DVD of a Broadway production for inspiration.

njoy the golden sun sparkling on the waves as the sun sets on another beautiful day here in southwest Florida.
ometimes, I just sit and study the water. I could stare at the water and the lights S reflection for hours. Using my ARTIST JOURNAL I can jot down my observations and sketch the motion of the water as it ripples off the Caloosahatchee River. The water is wonderful and the light dances differently during high and low tides.

our Artist Journal allows you to document your success. Look back and compare your finished piece to the original conception in your Artist Journal. That spark of creativity started out with just a few simple sketches.
An ARTIST JOURNAL keeps the artist in perspective. Even the shadows need to follow the guidelines to your vanishing point.
Note: Clouds in perspective are heading towards a one point perspective with the setting sun.
The point is...
Just be creative everyday! Get out your journal and you’ll be surprised later at how clever and creative you are. Keep a journal in your car and one by the pool. Start today and have one by the bedside or coffee table. When you relax in the evening with a cool beverage, doodle your heart out.

REATIVE EXPRESSIONS come from so many places. Everyday is an opportunity to explore the creative genius inside you waiting to be found.
A
RTIST JOURNALS can help you keep an account of your creative activities and how you want to execute them. Consider it a diary of creative thoughts that extend down to your finger tips and scribed onto paper. You don’t have to be an artist to keep a journal. A photographer may do a type of storyboard or thumbnails over a cup of coffee before heading out to a client. A landscaper may doodle a pattern of a flower garden, or a writer may jot down some story ideas. However you come up with your creative ideas, a journal is a great place to start.
T
he kind of person that keeps an ARTIST JOURNAL would be just about anyone who either knows art as a profession or who appreciates art. It is so helpful to keep a journal to sketch out your ideas, formulate a color scheme or to sort out those perspective problems. Artists who have been creating and studying for years have so much knowledge stored in their brains. An ARTIST JOURNAL is a great way to document and refresh all you’ve learned about color theory, balance, design, technique, perspective, anatomy and more.
