I reside in Anakie, Western Victoria. My art journey began in my early 20s at RMIT in Melbourne where I studied visual arts. After traumatic events, my studies were put on hold for 20 years. My recent body of work began in 2015 after a collapse from MS. This opened up a new way of working as my capacity to draw was limited. The parameters I set myself was to deconstruct what was conventionally classical beauty to find the core of expression without perfectionism. This way of communicating brought out the genuine artist in me. I was always interested in personal emotional responses to ourselves and to our worlds.

As I lost my very close sister Joanna to suicide, I was propelled to discuss difficult topics as a way forward in developing a healthy relationship to intense emotions and mental health in general. When creating I deliberately try remaining open and vulnerable, not discriminating between positive and negative emotions.

Mindy Campbell

Inspired by works in the round, Mindy Campbell incorporates textures by adding plaster and layering coats of paint to her abstract art pieces. The textures in her work reveal the duality between unity and separation, simultaneously bringing the eye in while taking a step back. She enjoys working on large-scale canvases and being commissioned work from local as well as international clients. This allows her to tap into different people’s visions, permitting her to bring their creative ideas to life all while staying true to her style. Mindy is a Canadian artist who has been a freelancer since 2016 based in Montreal, Quebec where she has also studied Fine Arts at Dawson College. Mindy’s go-with-the-flow personality can also be seen poured into her work creating mixed media paintings that range from vibrant colors to very dark pieces.
