LINDO ZWANE @lindo_zwane_artist Biography: Lindokuhle Zwane was born in 1992 in Newcastle, South Africa. He works predominantly in printmaking as well as charcoal drawing. He studied printmaking at Artist Proof Studio where he completed his third year followed by a fourth year internship as a teaching assistant. Zwane’s work is focusses on feelings of nostalgia and the processes of catharsis. He is interested in everyday life as he draws his inspiration from all that surrounds him mostly the vibrant township in which he lives. He has participated in a number of group exhibitions including, Fresh Produce, Turbine Art Fair, On the Move, Art it Is, This is not an exhibition and SOMA. Statement: Lindo’s work focuses on feelings of nostalgia. He is interested in everyday life as his nostalgia is a sentimental of loss and displacement, he draws his inspiration from all that surrounds him. His process involves capturing moments that he feels nostalgic to. He is also interested in how the past weaves itself into the presents and how sometimes this creates a psychological barrier. With his work he hopes to inspire and open unspoken dialogues. His process involves taking photographs from the township where he lives and also borrowing old photographs from friends and family. He reinterprets these ‘moments’ through charcoal drawings and printmaking mediums. He uses offsetting and recomposes compositions that communicate how memory can be subjective, out of focus and fragmented.

SIFISO TEMBA @sifiso_temba Biography: Sifiso Temba was born in 1989 and currently lives in Vosloorus, Gauteng. He completed a 3 year Professional Development Programme at Artist Proof Studio in 2015 followed by an internship facilitating 3rd years in Conceptual Development. He is currently working as an independent artist working closely with Alphabet Zoo. He is an artist and printmaker that combines a variety of mediums including; charcoal, pencil, chalk, pastel, ink and watercolour. Temba’s artworks explore issues surrounding crime and politics in South Africa. Statement: My work focuses on the issue of crime in South Africa. I look at the complexity of our current social landscape as high levels of violent crime, murder, rape and theft highlights voids of hopelessness in our country. I explore the point of confrontation and consequences of violent behaviour. I create scenarios from personal and local references that contribute to the reading of this chaotic issue. I use animals as representation of the perceived perpetrators in the re-enactment of these current events. I use expressive lines in order to emphasize the density and intensity of this sensitive subject matter. My artworks are attempts to find solutions to these problematic issues that affect so many lives.
