Festivalul ARTmania se află anul acesta la cea de-a şasea ediţie şi promite spectatorilor manifestări de excepţie. ARTmania este mai mult decât un festival de muzică rock: el propune publicului expoziţii, workshop-uri şi concerte dintr-o arie extinsă a acestui gen. Sibiul îşi deschide porţile cu bucurie manifestărilor culturale de calitate cum este şi ARTmania şi urează participanţilor, alături de organizatori, să aibă parte de o experienţă memorabilă la ediţia din acest an! Klaus Iohannis Primarul Municipiului Sibiu Sibiul este greu de prezentat doar în câteva cuvinte. Istoria sa, diversitatea culturii şi a etniilor, dezvoltarea economică, potenţialul cultural, proiectele sale viitoare – toate sunt de mare însemnătate pentru cei interesaţi de Sibiu. Considerat drept unul dintre cele mai frumoase oraşe ale Transilvaniei, Sibiul este un important centru regional în domeniile administraţiei, industriei şi serviciilor. În ultimii ani oraşul, care are în prezent în jur de 170.000 locuitori, a înregistrat cea mai importantă creştere economică din întreaga regiune. Deşi zona Sibiului a fost locuită sporadic încă din epoca romană, oraşul a fost întemeiat în secolul XII de colonişti de origine germanică veniţi din regiunile vestice ale Rinului şi s-a dezvoltat apoi ca un important centru medieval. Evoluţia sa pe parcursul secolelor XVII – XIX a transformat Sibiul în cel mai important centru economic, social şi cultural al regiunii. Deşi distrugerile celor două războaie mondiale nu au afectat Sibiul, acesta a avut de suferit în timpul regimului comunist, când lipsa de investiţii în infrastructură a marcat oraşul.

Caracterul cosmopolit al Sibiului este dat astăzi de convieţuirea locuitorilor de generaţii diferite, stiluri de viaţă diverse şi etnii diferite (români, germani, maghiari etc.). Convieţuirea de secole a adus sibienilor o competenţă interculturală deosebită ce contribuie la creşterea calităţii vieţii. În ciuda celor opt secole şi jumătate de istorie, Sibiul este un oraş foarte tânăr: mai mult de jumătate din populaţia oraşului are vârsta sub 50 de ani. Cele şapte universităţi au transformat Sibiul într-un centru universitar în ascensiune, iar numărul mare de instituţii culturale au contribuit la faima sa de oraş al artelor. Muzeele, teatrul şi concertele Filarmonicii au un loc stabil în calendarul de manifestări al oraşului, care este întregit constant de festivaluri internaţionale recunoscute, ce fac Sibiul un important centru cultural al regiunii. Anual aici se desfăşoară peste 250 de manifestări culturale astfel că în unele zile, mai ales vara, sibienii şi vizitatorii pot alege din cel puţin 5 evenimente culturale zilnice.

ARTmania Festival reached its sixth edition this year and promises its public exceptional performances. ARTmania is more than just a rock festival: it offers the audience exhibitions, workshops and concerts covering the wide diversity of this musical genre. Sibiu gladly opens its gates to cultural events of a high quality such as ARTmania and, together with the organizers, the city wishes participants to have a memorable experience with this year’s edition as well! Klaus Iohannis Mayor of Sibiu It is hard to describe Sibiu in just a few words, given its rich history, the ethnic and cultural diversity gathered in this old citadel, given its cultural potential, its economic development and the projects that will be developed here. All of these are of great importance for people interested in this town. Considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Transylvania, Sibiu is an important regional industrial, administrative and touristic center. During the last years, the town, which currently has approximately 170.000 inhabitants, has registered the most important economic growth of the Transylvanian region. Though the area neighboring Sibiu has been inhabited from Roman times, the town was officially established in the XII-th century by Germanic colonists coming from the Western regions of Rhine and rapidly became an important medieval center. Its fast growth, between the XVII-th and the XIX-th century, turned Sibiu into an important economic, cultural and social center of Transylvania. Though the destructions provoked by the two World Wars did not reach Sibiu, the town was seriously affected during the Communism regime by the lack of investments in the national infrastructure.

The cosmopolitan atmosphere of Sibiu is given today by the cohabitation of people with different life styles, coming from different generations and having various ethnicities (Romanians, Germans, Hungarians etc.). The communion of these people along the centuries has endowed Sibiu inhabitants with a particular intercultural sensitiveness, which permanently contributes to the increase of the life quality in the region. Despite of its eight century history, Sibiu continues to be a young town: more than half of its population being under 50 years old. Also, the seven universities opened here turned Sibiu into a flourishing educational center. Moreover, the great number of cultural institutions has consolidated the “town of arts” fame. The museums, the theater and the concerts given by the Philharmonic of Sibiu have a well-defined place in the events calendar of the town that is permanently enriched by wellknown international cultural festivals. All these designate Sibiu as an important cultural center of Transylvania. There are over 250 cultural events each year in Sibiu which offer to the inhabitants of this town many options from which they can choose – in some days, especially during the summer, one can choose from at least 5 events. 5 5

ARTmania Festival Piata Mare

Piaţa Mare a Sibiului este punctul turistic central al oraşului, emblematic prin structura clădirilor care îl delimitează. De-a lungul timpului aici au avut loc cele mai importante evenimente din Sibiu, iar în fiecare an, în August, a fost centrul de desfăşurarea al concertelor Festivalului ARTmania. În 2011 de aici va porni parada motocicliştilor spre Muzeul ASTRA şi Sibiu Area - Pădurea Dumbrava, locaţia noii arene în aer liber a festivalului.

Pe scena principală a festivalului vor urca anul acesta unele dintre cele mai importante nume din rock şi metal, îmbogăţind astfel palmaresul celor care au cântat la ARTmania Festival. Tot în Piaţa Mare se găseste Info Center-ul în apropierea Muzeului Brukenthal, unde pot fi preschimbate abonamentele şi biletele de festival în brăţări de acces începând de vineri până sâmbătă, între orele 10:00 - 22:00

ARTmania Festival & Granini Refreshing Area - Piața Mică

Piaţa Mică este cel puţin la fel de impunătoare, prin Turnul Sfatului sau Biserica Catolică. Este locul perfect pentru puţină relaxare, motiv pentru care anul acesta cei prezenţi la festival se pot bucura de ARTmania Festival and Granini Refreshing Area. În Piaţa Mică vor avea loc concerte de muzica clasică, interpretări moderne şi muzică medievală, numai bune pentru destindere înainte de concertele de pe scena principală. Aici vom asculta concertele susţinute de Classic Beat Orchestra, Aeternum şi Quart'elle. Veţi găsi aici fructe proapete şi aer proaspăt.

ARTmania Festival Sibiu Arena este cea Tursib asigură gratuit transportul publicului ARTmania Festival Arena powered by Tuborg mai nouă locaţie a Festivalului, şi oferă pe ARTmania Festival între Sala Thalia şi Sibiu lângă zona de concerte şi muzică, campare cu servicii complete, parcare şi zonă de entertainment.

Arena în intervalul 00:00 - 00:30 în nopţile de vineri şi sâmbătă şi 18:00 - 18:30 în zilele de vineri şi sâmbătă.

Astfel, Arena este ideală pentru cei care vor să se încalzească înainte de concert cu muzică românească sau pentru cei cu poftă de petrecere până în zorii zilei.

De vineri până duminică în intervalul 10:00 - 01:00 vor circula microbuzele Transvasi pe traseul Gară - Sala Thalia - Hotel Parc - Sibiu Arena. Tarif 4 lei. Pentru comezi de taxiuri în oricare dintre direcţii puteţi apela cu încredere 0269-942.

The Large Square of Sibiu is the town’s central turistic objective, emblematic through the buildings’ structure, which surrounds it. Over the years, Sibiu’s most important events took place here, and each year, in August, it has been the center of the ARTmania Festival events. In 2011 this will be the starting point for the byker’s parade which will end at the ASTRA Museum and the Dumbrava Forest, the festival’s new outdoor location.

On the Festival’s main stage will play some of the most important rock and metal bands, thus adding more value to the already important names that have been present at the ARTmania Festival. Also, in the Large Square the Info Center close to the Brukenthal Museum where subscriptions and tickets can be transformed into wristbands can be found in Friday and Saturday between 10:00 - 22:00.

The Small Square is as imposing thanks to the Tower or the Catholic Church. It is the perfect place for relaxing, reason for which those present this year at the festival can enjoy the Refreshing Area offered by Granini. In the Small Square there will be classical music concerts in modern interpretations as well as medieval music, just perfect for relaxing before the concerts from the Large Square. You will listen bands like Classic Beat Orchestra, Aeternum & Gaby Koss, Quart'elle. You will find fresh fruit and air here.

ARTmania Festival Sibiu Arena is the Festival’s newest location, and offers not just a concert and music area, but also a full camping area, parking and entertainment area.

Tursib offers free transportation for the ARTmania Festival public, between Thalia Hall and Sibiu Arena according to this schedule: 00:00- 00:30 on Friday and Saturday and 17:00-18:30 on Friday and Saturday.

Therefore, the Arena is ideal for those who want to warm up for the concerts with some Romanian music or for those who want to party until the break of dawn.

Istoria formaţiei germane cu influenţe doom şi clasice începe în 1993, de la o idee a lui Oliver Schmid, chitaristul trupei. Primele trei albume Lacrimas Profundere vor purta amprenta unei voci feminine, însă odată cu „Burning: A Wish” (2001), lucrurile se schimbă. Acesta va fi primul material ce va primi o atenţie sporită din partea presei internaţionale şi totodată primul care va include o voce de bariton, aparţinând fratelui lui Oliver, Christopher. Succesele trupei germane continuă, iar în 2006, “Filthy Notes For Frozen Hearts”, urcă pe prima poziţie în topurile germane, unde rămâne timp de 8 săptămâni. Rob Vitacca, actualul solist, se alătură trupei în 2008. Veştile bune legate de Lacrimas Profundere au continuat şi în primăvara acestui an, când formaţia a lansat “The Grandiose Nowhere”, album cu influenţe venite din filme renumite şi din coloanele lor sonore.

The history of the doom and classic influenced band starts in 1993, as an idea of Oliver Schmid, the band’s guitarist. The first three albums by Lacrimas Profundere will bear a female voice print, but things will change with “ Burning: A Wish”(2001). this will be their first album to feature the baritone voice of Christopher, Oliver’s brother, and the first album to receive more attention from the international press. The band continues its line of successes and in 2006 “Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts” reaches the first position in German charts, and it stays there for eight weeks. Rob Vitacca, their lead singer joined the band in 2008. Good news about Lacrimas Profundere continued after, since this spring they released “The Grandiose Nowhere”, an album influenced by famous movies and their scores.

Povestea legendarei trupe germane de power metal ia naştere în Hamburgul anilor ’80, când trei artişti pasionaţi de acest stil se vor întâlni pentru a înregistra câteva piese pentru o compilaţie intitulată “Death Metal”. Materialul va reprezenta startul celor peste 25 de ani de prezenţă pe scena muzicală, anii în care au fost lansate 13 albume de studio vândute în peste 5 milioane de copii. În 1987, la numai 3 ani de la înfiinţare, formaţia înregistrează “Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part I”, albumul ce va transforma Helloween într-una dintre cele mai de succes trupe de power metal din Europa, pentru ca în 1988 să revină cu “Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part II”, cel mai cunoscut material lansat în line-up-ul iniţial. Seria succeselor va continua cu albume de referinţă, precum “The Time of the Oath” (1996) sau “Gambling with the Devil” (2007), care-i vor ajuta să rămână una dintre cele mai populare trupe de metal din Europa. La finalul anului trecut, Helloween a revenit cu un nou material puternic, dinamic şi agresiv: “7 sinners”, ce va fi prezentat publicului ARTmania alături de alte piese consacrate, precum: “Ride The sky”, “I Want Out” sau “Future World”.

The story of the legendary power metal band from Germany begins in the 80s in Hamburg, when three passionate artists would meet to record a couple of songs for a compilation entitled “Death Metal”. The material will be the starting point for over 25 years of musical career translated in 13 studio albums and over 5 million records sold worldwide. In 1987, only three years after getting together the band records “Keeper of the Seventh Keys, Part I” an album which will turn Helloween in one of the most loved and successful power metal bands in Europe, only to make a return in 1988 with Keeper of the "Seventh Keys, Part II", the band’s best know material in the original line up. Their successful series will continue with "The Time of the Oath" (1996) and "Gambling with the Devil" (2007) which will confirm the band’s status as one of the most loved European metal bands. At the end of last year, Helloween came back with a new and strong disc, dynamic and aggresive: “7 Sinners” which will be presented to the ARTmania public with some of their classic songs like "Ride the Sky", "I Want Out" or "Future World".

Piata Mare, 12 aug, 22:00 Tarja Turunen este cea mai cunoscută voce feminină a metalului de pretutindeni, fiind supranumită “Vocea Finlandei” chiar de preşedintele ţării sale natale. Cariera ei solo de succes a început în 2004 odată cu lansarea primului său album de studio, Yhden Enkelin Unelma. După despărţirea de Nightwish la sfârşitul lui 2005, Tarja îşi lansează un al doilea material de studio care s-a bucurat de un succes răsunător în Finlanda. “My Winter Storm” câştigă discul de aur chiar în ziua lansării, ajunge pe locul întâi în topurile finlandeze şi câştigă dublu disc de platină pentru vânzările din Rusia. Ca urmare a acestui lucru, artista va fi nominalizată “cel mai bun artist finlandez al anului 2007”. Apoi, în toamna anului trecut, Tarja a revenit în forţă cu aşteptatul encore, “What Lies Beneath”, care a urcat pe locul întâi în topurile din Brazilia, Italia şi printre primele 10 albume metal din Germania, Finlanda şi Cehia.

Tarja Turunen is the most famous feminine voice in metal music around the world, and has been called “the voice of Finland” by her native country’s president. Her successful solo career began in 2004 with the release of her first studio album, Yhden Enkelin Unelma. After leaving Nightwish at the end of 2005, Tarja launched her second solo album, a huge hit in her native Finland. "My Winter Storm" receives the Gold Record for sales in the same day, reaches the first position in Finnish charts and receives a double Platinum disc for her Russian sales. Therefore, she will be nominated as the Best Finnish Artist of 2007. Fall last year, Tarja came back strong with "What Lies Beneath", which peaked in Brazil, Italy and hit top ten positions in metal charts in Germany, Finland and the Czech Republic.

Piata Mare, 13 aug, 19:30 Republica sunt una dintre cele mai de succes trupe de rock alternativ britanice ale anilor ’90, fiind mereu amintiţi alături de alte nume de formaţii engleze consacrate, precum Garbage. Istoria trupei a început în 1994 la ideea lui Tim Dorney şi Andy Rodd, cărora li se alătură Samantha (Saffron). De-a lungul carierei sale Republica a primit numeroase premii, ajungând să fie cunoscută drept o trupă adeptă a unui stil “tehno-pop-punk-rock” cu un pronunţat sound agresiv cu influenţe electronice. Britanicii au devenit consacraţi la nivel internaţional în special pentru binecunoscutele piese “Drop Dead Gorgeous” şi “Ready to go”, melodie care s-a transformat într-un adevărat imn al anilor ’90 şi a cărei nouă versiune recent lansată a urcat direct pe primul loc în topul britanic al muzicii de club.

Republica is one the most successful British alternative rock bands of the 90s, always being mentioned along with other important UK bands like Garbage. The band’s history begins in 1994 as an idea of Tim Dorney and Andy Rodd, later joined by Samantha (Saffron). Over the years Republica received many awards and became known as a “tehno-pop-punk-rock band” with an aggressive electronic influenced sound. The Brits became internationally known for tracks like "Drop Dead Gorgeous" or Ready to Go, a song that became a true hymn of the 90s. Its most recent version hit first position in British club charts.

Piata Mare, 13 aug, 20:30 Cu o istorie de 15 ani în spate, finlandezii din Kemi s-au impus pe piaţa muzicală internaţională încă de la primul album, “Ecliptica”, lansat în 1999. Din acest moment, Sonata Arctica nu a încetat să uimească fanii şi criticii prin lansarea unor piese ce au fost recunoscute imediat drept adevărate imnuri. Trupa se mândreşte cu o discografie de top, ce include albume precum “Winterheards Guild” sau “Reckoning Night”, ce au intrat în fruntea clasamentelor muzicale finlandeze, menţinându-se mai multe săptămâni la rând pe poziţiile din Top 10, înaintea unor nume ca The Rasmus sau Eminem. Fiecare dintre cele şase materiale de studio ale Sonata Arctica a primit discul de aur în ţara natală, iar cea mai recentă creaţie, “The Days of Grays”, apărută în 2009 a intrat pe locul 2 în topul albumelor metal din Finlanda. De-a lungul carierei sale, Sonata Arctica a concertat alături de alte nume mari ale scenei muzicale, precum de Nightwish, Dio, Stratovarius, Iron Maiden, Rhapsody sau Alice Cooper şi a susţinut numeroase turnee europene, japoneze sau nord şi sud americane. 12

With a 15 year old history behind, the Finnish band from Kemi stood out on the international music landscape right from their first album, “Ecliptica”, launched in 1999. Starting with this moment, Sonata Arctica continued to surprise the critics and its fans by launching songs which were immediately perceived as true hymns. The band has a successful discography, with albums like "Winterheart’s Guild" or "Reckoning Night", that hit top position in Finnish Charts, keeping its top ten scores in spite of other names like The Rasmus or Eminem. Each of the six Sonata Arctica studio albums received a Golden Disc Award in their home country, while their most recent release, “The Days of Grays”, launched in 2009, entered the 2nd position in top of the best metal albums. During its career, Sonata Arctica performed together with famous names of the international music landscape, like Dio, Stratovarius, Iron Maiden, Rhapsody or Alice Cooper and had many European, Japanese or North and South American tours.

Italienii se pot mândri că sunt una dintre formaţiile cu cea mai rapidă ascensiune în topul trupelor metal. Dacă la început purtau numele de Sleep of Right iar carismatica Christina Scabbia era doar backing vocals, odată cu adoptarea noului nume şi lansarea unui EP omonim, Lacuna Coil a devenit o trupă iubită de public şi de critici. Succesul răsunător a venit odată cu albumul “Comalies” (2002), un material care îi va face cunoscuţi şi publicului american. Piese ca “Heaven’s a Lie” câştigă cel de-al patrulea premiu anual la Gala Muzicii Independente, iar “Swamped” este difuzată în heavy rotation şi apare pe coloana sonoră a jocului “Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines” şi a cunoscutului film “Resident Evil: Apocalypse”. Albumul “Karmacode” urcă direct pe locul 28 în topul Billboard, primeşte elogii din partea criticilor şi fanilor, iar “Our Truth” se alătură melodiilor aparute pe coloane sonore celebre, cum e cazul celei a filmului “Underworld: Evolution”. În 2009, trupa lansează un nou album reuşit, “Shallow Life”, considerat drept cel mai de succes material Lacuna Coil, care după lansare a urcat direct pe locul 16 în topul Billboard.

The Italians can pride themselves as being one of the fastest growing bands in the metal world. If at the beginning they would go by the name of Sleep of Right, and the charismatic Cristina Scabbia was only backing vocals, once the name was changed and they launched their homony-

mous EP, Lacuna Coil was instantly loved by the critics and the public. Their hit success came with "Comalies" (2002), a disc that will make them popular to the American public. Tracks like "Heaven’s a Lie" win the forth Annual Prize of the Independent Music Gala, while "Swamped" is in heavy rotation on music station and featured on the musical score of the "PC game Vampire: The MasqueradeBloodlines", as well as on the score of the well know "Resident Evil-Apocalypse". "Karmacode" reaches the 28th position in the Billboard top 200, receives high praises from the public and the critics, while "Our Truth" turns on another movie score: "Underworld: Evolution". In 2009, the band released another great album, "Shallow Life", considered one of the best from Lacuna Coil, a disc that after the launching hit number 16 on the Billboard chart.

Concerte in Sibiu Arena Ethernus vineri, 00:30 Ethernus, un proiect simfonic power metal cu influenţe de melodic death metal, este prezent pe piaţa muzicală românească încă din 2007. Primul album al trupei, "Memories from Eternity" a apărut în primăvara anului 2011 şi va fi prezentat la ARTmania Festival 2011.

Ethernus first appeared on the Romanian musical scene in 2007, as a symphonic power metal project with melodic death influences. The band’s first album, "Memories from Eternity" was released this spring and features themes like death, occultism and misanthropy.

Reckoning vineri 02:30 Formaţie tânără, Reckoning a avut primul concert în primăvara anului 2011, la doi ani de la formare. Trupa, care abordeaza un melodic death metal cu influenţe atmosferice, s-a bucurat de un mare succes încă de la primele apariţii.

A young band, Reckoning had its first gig in the spring of 2011, two years after its members got together. The band, playing a melodic death metal with atmospheric influences, was well received by the public from its first live concerts.

Heavy Duty sambata 13:00 Heavy Duty, trupa sibiană înfiinţată în 2007, a început ca un proiect de cover-uri, care s-a dezvoltat treptat, până când a atras atenţia scenei locale underground. Heavy Duty abordează un trash/death metal bine definit prin piese ca "Face of Murder", "Manifest" sau "Hunting Ghosts". După lansarea unui EP, Heavy Duty se pregătesc pentru lansarea albumului de debut.

The Sibiu borne group was a cover band project in the beginning in 2007. However, it evolved and it eventually attracted the attention of the local underground music scene. Originally from Constanta, the band is one of the oldest and most appreciated doom gothic bands in Romania. In almost 20 years of making music, Interitus Dei has released four albums, three video clips and over time has changed the musical vision going for eclectic metal.

They were born in 2009 in Cluj, and after a few line-up changes and local concerts, they played at festivals in Romania and Hungary. In 2007 Guerrillas was the opening act for the Sepultura concert in Bucharest, and just a year later they release their first studio album, Guerrilla Spirit.

Concerte În Piata MicÃ Flavius drumming show vineri 14:30 Flavius va împlini pe 30 august vârsta de 11 ani. De la 4 ani a început să fie prezent pe diferite scene ale festivalurilor din ţară şi din străinătate şi la nenumărate emisiuni TV. A obţinut foarte multe premii ca solist intrumentist şi a susţinut deja numeroase concerte. El compune, creează şi are un repertoriu alcătuit din piese de muzică simfonică adaptată la rock.

Flavius will turn 11 on August 30th. Since he was four he was present on various Romanian and international festivals as well as countless TV shows. He has received many awards as a soloist and has had numerous concerts. Flavius is self taught. He creates, composes and has a repertoire made out of rock adapted symphonic tracks.

Aeternum & Gaby Koss vineri 16:30 Formaţia de muzică medievală, renascentistă, irlandeză & celtică şi rock medieval Aeternum din Sibiu s-a format în vara anului 1999. Classic Beat Orchestra sambata 14:30 Grupul format din nouă studenţi la conservator aduce o nouă interpretare unor compoziţii clasice cunoscute, prin filtrul unor genuri ca electro jazz, dub step şi rock. Primul single al trupei, "Here We Go" este o reinventare a cunoscutei partituri clasice "Canon în D Major" de Johann Pachebel.

The group made of nine Conservatory students brings a new interpretation to wellknown classic compositions, using the filter of other genres like electro jazz, dub step and rock. The band’s first single, "Here We Go" is a reinvention of the classical score "Canon in D Major" by Johann Pachebel.

Quart'elle String Quartet duminica 17:00 Quart’Elle are un repertoriu variat care cuprinde muzica clasică, caffe-concert, jazz, muzică de film şi rock. Quart Elle has a varied repertoire which comprises classical music, caffe concert, jazz, film scores and rock. The quartet has had various collaborations with many Romanian artists, like Cristi Gram, Holograf, etc and has taken part in an unconventional theatre project. The quartet's unicity, at least in Romania, is given by its rock repertoire, which includes Metallica and Apocalyptica covers.

Plasticitatea ludică a picturilor transpare în reprezentări şi compoziţii ample, ce tratează subiecte mistice, oculte inspirate de tonurile Rockului Contemporan. Absolvente ale Facultăţii de Arte Plastice, sectia Pictura, Universitatea de Arta si Design, ClujNapoca, masterande ale Facultăţii de Arte si Design, sectia Surse şi Resurse ale ImaginiiPictura, Universitatea de Vest, Timişoara.

Dorina and Doina Pantea present a homage on canvas to contemporary rock. The imahes contain gothic and dark elements, and are inspired by the repertoire of bands that have played and play at the ARTmania Festival. The playful plasticity of the paintings transcends in complex representations that feature the occult and the mistique, inspired by contemporary rock. Graduates from the faculty of Platic Arts, Painting section, the University of Arts and Design in Cluj Napoca, Doina and Dorina are now following a master program of the Faculty of Arts and Design, Sources and Resources of ImagePainting, Western University of Timişoara.

Anda Cofaru - Din Adâncuri Expoziţia Andei Cofaru, „Din Adâncuri” este dedicată Tarjei Turunen şi îşi propune prin ilustraţiile sale să prezinte metaforic ideea scufundării în adâncuri. Contrar percepţiei generale, în adancuri nu se află nici resemnarea, nici sfârsitul, ci o valoroasă sursă de putere, cunoaştere şi regenerare. Expoziţia este inspirată de muzica Tarjei şi de pasiunea acesteia pentru scufundări, de „furtunile” şi „căderile” din viaţa solistei finlandeze, dar şi de puterea acesteia de a reveni la suprafaţa mai puternică şi mai increzatoare. Anda Cofaru este absolventă a Universitaţii de Arte Plastice şi Design din ClujNapoca şi a mai expus in cadrul Festivalului ARTmania in 2009, cu seria de picturi „Live on Canvas”.

Anda Cofaru’s Exhibition, "Din Adâncuri" ("From the Deep") is dedicated to Tarja Turunen and metaphorically presents the idea of diving in the deep. Contrary to the general belief, in the deep, there is no resignation and no end, but a valuable source of power, knowledge and regeneration. The exhibition is inspired by Tarja’s music and her passion for diving, by the "storm" and the "falls" in the life of the Finnish singer, but also by her power to come back to surface much stronger and more self-confident. Anda Cofaru is a graduate from the University of Plastic Arts and Design in Cluj-Napoca and she has had another exhibition at the ARTmania Festival 2009 with "Live on Canvas". 19

Workshopul se adresează tuturor pasionaţilor de fotografie, unde tipul de aparatură folosită sau gradul de pregătire al participanţilor nu contează. Importante sunt pasiunea pentru muzică şi fotografie, dorinţa de a inţelege mai bine tehnica şi arta fotografică. This year, thanks to the exhibit "ARTnatomy: The Reconfiguring Eye", organized within the series of alternative events, photographer Miluţă Flueraş will hold a festival-themed workshop: concert photography. The workshop is for all those passionate about photography, without regard to the type of cameras used or the experience level of those present.

Live Aeons in Sibiu Arena Trăim într-o eră a comunicării vizuale prin mediul virtual. Acesta ocupă tot mai mult spaţiu în existenţa noastră. Chiar şi divertismentul muzical, mai ales cel concertistic, este prins în acest cerc. De aceea, apariţiile live devin momente unice în relaţia dintre trupă şi public. Intensitatea clipei este parcă mai puternic resimţită de ambele părţi, fiecare încercând să soarbă cât mai mult din energia momentului. După debutul de la festivalului OST Mountain Fest, şi trecând prin Biblioteca Judeţeană din Braşov, seria de expoziţii LIVE AEONS continuă în cadrul festivalului ARTmania, locaţia aleasă fiind nou inauguratul Sibiu Arena din Pădurea Dumbrava. Even musical entertainment, especially concerts, is trapped in this circle. That is why live events become unique events in the relationship between the band and the audience. MUZEUL DE ISTORIE "CASA ALTEMBERGER" Mitropoliei nr. 2

Camera de arme Pasionaţii de arme şi specialiştii în domeniu vor putea vizita Camera armelor de foc, un depozit special conceput pentru a valorifica cea mai mare colecţie de puşti cu fitil din România, aflată în patrimoniul Muzeului Naţional Brukhental. Cele 215 piese trec prin întreaga istorie a acestor arme, de la cele cu cocoşul prins direct pe patul armei, datate din secolul al XVI-lea, la cele cu cremene din secolele XVII-XVIII până la cele cu cui percutor şi armele tot mai evoluate ale secolului XX. Those passionate about firearms, as well as researches in the area will be able to visit the Firearm Hall, a specifically designed storage to take into account the largest matchlock rifle collection in Romania, owned by the Brukenthal National Museum. With over 215 pieces, they cover the history of these firearms, from those with lock plate in the XVI-th century, to the emergence of musket with recovery spring and the more evolved ones from the XX-th century.

Fortificatii medievale din Transilvania Expoziţia organizată de Muzeul Naţional Brukenthal - Muzeul de Istorie "Casa Altemberger" valorifică mai multe clişee realizate de fraţii Fischerm alături de cărţi poştale din prima jumătate a secolului XX, reproduceri fotografice realizate pe carton, precum şi alte instantanee realizate de fotografi cunoscuţi la timpul respectiv. Imaginile prezintă o lume demult apusă, sub imperiul fricii de invazie, ce a determinat apariţia unor cetăţi precum Aiud, Bistriţa, Deva, Făgăraş, Sebeş, oraşul cetate Braşov, cetăţile bisericeşti Codlea, Hărman, Prejmer, precum şi cetatile Râşnov şi Rupea. The exhibition at the Brukenthal National Museum Museum of History “Altemberger House” aims to tap the valuable collection of clichés which belonged to the Fischer brothers, alongside postal cards from the first half of the XX-th century, photographic reproductions as well as other images realized by well-known photographers of that era. The images show a long gone world, under the constant fear of invasion, which determined the construction of fortresses like Aiud, Bistriţa, Deva, Făgăraş, Sebeş, the citadel city of Braşov, the ecclesiastic citadels of Codlea, Hărman, Prejmer, as well as Râşnov and Rupea.

Geometria buna a lumii "Expoziţia Geometria bună a lumii" cuprinde 40 de lucrări de pictură, desen, acuarelă şi obiecte, ce evidenţiază aplecarea lui Onisim Colta spre formulele simple, arhetipale, care împlică ideea de geometrie. Artistul este conf. dr. la Facultatea de Design a Universităţii „Aurel Vlaicu” din Arad, iar lucrările sale figurează în colecţiile muzeelor din Baia Mare, Arad, Sângeorz-Băi, Cluj-Napoca, Timişoara, Oradea, Bucureşti, Majdanek (Polonia), Bekescsaba (Ungaria) şi Vatican. The exhibition "The Good Geometry of the World" features 40 works, including paintings, drawings, watercolor and objects which highlight Colta’s affinity for simplicity and archetype in shapes implying geometry. The artist is tutor at the Faculty of Design at the University “Aurel Vlaicu” of Arad and his works are to be met in museum collections in Baia Mare, Arad, Sângeorz-Man, Cluj-Napoca, Timişoara, Oradea, Bucharest, Lublin (Poland), Békéscsaba (Hungary) and at the Vatican. Pictura tinerei artiste germane Mandy Kunze aparţine realismului cunoscutei Şcoli de pictură de la Leipzig. Mandy Kunze a învăţat şi apoi a urmat clasa de excelenţă, a renumitului artist Neo Rauch. Locul omului în lumea modernă, raportarea lui la natură, urmele lăsate de civilizaţie, dar şi pierderea calităţilor umane în contact cu normele absurde şi controlate ale tehnologiei formează topica lucrărilor lui Mandy Kunze.

Expoziţia curatorilor tineri este un proiect care doreşte o întâlnire a aspectelor lumii naturale într-un spaţiu controlat de om. În cadrul galeriei se încearcă recrearea modelului preţios al simbiozei, de la oxigenul instalaţiei de plante care se hrănesc cu dioxidul de carbon expirat de public, până la imaginea modernă a relaţiei violente om-natură.

The paintings of the young artist Mandy Kunze belongs to the realism of the well-known Painting School of Leipzig. Mandy Kunze studied and followed the excellence class of the renowned artist Neo Raunch. The place of man in the modern world, its relation to the nature, traces left by civilization as well as losing the human qualities in contact with the absurd and technology controlled rules forms a topic of Mandy Kunze’s works.

A project of the young curators, the exhibition is an encounter of aspects from the natural world in a human controlled space. The gallery tries to recreate the precios model of symbiosis, from the oxygen of the plant installations which feed on the carbon dioxide expired by the public to the modern image of the violent relationship between human and nature. 23 23

Workshop-uri ASTRA muzeul civilizatiei populare traditionale ASTRA

Atelier de fierarie Sâmbata 11:00-13:00 Pentru cei pasionaţi de fierărie, Muzeul oferă sâmbătă, 13 august, între orele 11 - 13 un atelier de fierărie. Participanţii vor dobândi noi experienţe prin îmblânzirea focului destinat prelucrării metalelor şi transformării acestora în unelte de uz casnic şi gospodăresc: potcoave, caiele - cuie în patru muchii pentru prinderea potcoavelor la animalele de tracţiune, scoabe şi belciuge.

For those passionate about forging metal, the museum offers on Saturday, August 13th, between 11 and 13 o’clock a forging workshop. The participants will learn how to work with the fire and transform metal into home usage accessories: horseshoes, nails for fixing horseshoes, crampons and metal hooks.

Atelier de olarit Sâmbata 11:00-13:00 Olăritul este o ocupaţie străveche, un meşteşug rezervat iniţial în exclusivitate bărbaţilor din efortului pe care îl presupune. Lutul din care se fac vasele este adus din locuri speciale, amestecat cu apă, iar pasta astfel rezultată este tăiată şi lucrată la roată. Procesul de formare a vasului necesită tehnică şi viteză pentru ca lutul să nu se usuce. Ornamentarea vaselor se face numai cu nuanţe obţinute în mod natural, din pământ, var sau humă, iar după ce acesta este gata se pune la uscat în cuptoare speciale. Meşteşugul olăritului foloseşte în primul rând în alimentaţie, dar aceste vase pot fi folosite şi în scop decorativ sau în ritualuri. Muzeul ASTRA aduce publicului de la Sibiu renumita ceramică de Horezu prin intermediul meşterului Gheorghe Ţambrea. Iar pentru doritori, 'nea Gelu este dispus să le arate cum funcţionează roata olarului şi cum din lut modelat poate ieşi un vas numai bun de luat acasă.

Pottery is an ancient occupation, a craft initially reserved only to man because of the effort is takes to mold clay. The clay pots are made from is taken from special places, mixed with water and the resulting paste is cut and molded using the wheel. The molding process requires technique and speed so that the clay doesn’t turn dry. The pots are then drawn only with natural coloring, from dust, lime or other clays and after it is finished it’s dried into special ovens. The craft of pottery has been at first used in nourishment, as food containers, but they later gained a design and ritual purpose. The ASTRA Museum brings to Sibiu the renowned Horezu pottery, thanks to the craftsman Gheorghe Tambrea. Uncle Gelu is willing to show those interested how the potter’s wheel and how the clay turn into a pot just perfect for taking home.

Workshop-uri ASTRA muzeul civilizatiei populare traditionale ASTRA

Atelier de papusi Sâmbata 11:00-13:00 Păpuşile ecologice sunt confecţionate din materiale naturale şi reprezintă, de cele mai multe ori, figura tăranului român, cu ocupaţiile sale specifice. De aceea, multe dintre ele au ataşate furci, traiste, coşuleţe, coase sau mături. Păpuşile sunt făcute fie din pănuşi de porumb, fie din linguri de lemn, vopsite, iar unele sunt realizate din material tricotat manual şi apoi umplute cu lână, iar toate sunt îmbrăcate în straie tradiţionale. Doina Nistor, meşter popular din Braşov, confecţionează păpuşi pentru toate gusturile. Din pânzeturi, în coji de nucă, păpuşi marionete şi chiar păpuşi pentru deget, o dovadă a capacităţii meşteşugarului tradiţional.

The ecological dolls are made out of natural materials and usually represent the figure of the Romanian peasant, with his traditional trades. That is why many of them have attached a pitchfork, or a knapsack, a basket, a scythe, or a broom. The dolls are either made of corn leaves, wooden spoons, are painted and hand knitted and then they are stuffed with wool. All of them are dressed in the traditional costume. Doina Nistor, a traditional craftswoman from Braşov makes dolls fitted for everyone’s taste. Made of fabrics, nut rind, puppets and even finger puppets, the puppets a true proof of the craftsmen’ capacity.

Atelier de masti Sâmbata 11:00-13:00 Măştile au avut încă de la început un scop ritualic, prin jocurile cu măşti oamenii încercau să îşi modifice sau să îşi influenţeze destinul, să îşi asigure bunăstarea, fiind folosite în ritualuri agrare şi pastorale, şi chiar să alunge spiritele rele. Măştile se confecţionează din materiale diferite, de la blană, piele, ţesături, lemn cioplit şi sunt împodobite cu cu panglici colorate, mărgele, chiar şi clopoţei sau tălăngi pentru îndepărtarea spiritelor rele. Măştile au o bogată încărcătură emoţională şi reprezintă capre, urşi, cai, cerbi, dar şi personaje din mitologia populară sau folclor. Ana şi Ioana Negoiţă, meşteri populari din Sibiu, vor fi responsabili cu transportarea publicului în acest tărâm interesant al măştilor. Cei prezenţi vor putea vedea cum ia naştere o asemenea mască, din diferite materiale şi vor pătrunde în lumea credinţelor ancestrale. 26

Masks have had a ritual purpose, and through mask games people tried to modify or influence their destiny, to ensure their welfare, masks being used in agrarian and pastoral rituals or even to chase away bad spirits. The masks are made out of different materials from fur, animal skin, fabrics, carved wood and are adorned with colorful bows, beads and even bells or cowbells to chase away bad spirits. The masks create a strong emotional impact and represent goats, bears, horses, deer and folkloric characters. Ana and Ioana Negoiţă, traditional craftswomen from Sibiu will be responsible with taking the audience to a new realm, the interesting realm of the masks. Those present will witness how such a mask is born, from different materials and will enter the world of ancestral beliefs.

Rally 2011 din Croaţia. HarleyDavidson Softail Springer 1999 a câştigat competiţia din cadrul 20th Annual European H.O.G. Rally 2011 la categoria Big Twin şi People Choice. Modelul a fost customizat de către Harley-Davidson Bucureşti.

Rally 2011 Croatia model. Harley Davidson Softail Springer 1999 won the 20th Annual European H.O.G. Rally 2011 at the Big Twin and People Choice categories. The model was custom made by Harley Davidson Bucharest.

ARTmania Festival Access Participanţii la evenimentele ARTmania sunt obligaţi să prezinte un bilet sau o invitaţie valabilă. Accesul va fi permis pe baza biletului valid, unei singure persoane, o singură dată. Biletul în baza căruia se va face accesul trebuie păstrat pe toată durata festivalului, spectatorii fiind rugaţi să aibă asupra lor şi un act de identitate valid.

Participants at ARTmania events are obliged to have a valid ticket or invitation. Access will be allowed to a single person, one time, only after presenting a valid ticket. The access ticket must be kept for the whole duration of the event and the public is also required to have a valid identity card.

După acces, participanţii vor primi brăţări în funcţie de tipul de bilet achiziţionat. Brăţările nu pot fi înstrăinate, rupte şi nu sunt transmisibile. Persoanele care au achiziţionat abonamente la ARTmania Festival 2011 vor păstra brăţara primită pe toată perioada de desfăşurare a festivalului.

After the access, the public will receive bracelets according to the type of ticket bought. The bracelets must not be alienated, broken and are not transmissible. Those who have bought subscriptions for ARTmania Festival 2011 must wear the bracelets for the entire duration of the festival.

ARTmania poate garanta faptul că un bilet este legal şi nefalsificat numai dacă acesta este cumpărat direct de la ARTmania sau de la unul din punctele de vânzare sau prin reprezentanţii oficiali. Participanţii la evenimentele ARTmania trebuie să fie în posesia unui bilet valid şi intact, înainte şi în timpul în care se află în locaţia evenimentului. La solicitarea biletului de către un reprezentat ARTmania, participanţii trebuie să prezinte tichetul. Organizatorii Festivalului ARTmania nu răspund de pierderea, înstrăinarea, deteriorarea sau ruperea brăţărilor primite la accesul în locaţie. Ruperea, distrugerea sau deteriorarea brăţării atrag după sine interzicerea accesului în perimetrul festivalului. Este interzis accesul persoanelor sub 14 ani fără însoţitor. Nu recomandăm prezenţa copiilor sub 5 ani sau a cărucioarelor pentru copii. Copiii care nu au împlinit 12 ani până în prima zi a festivalului pot participa gratuit numai însoţiţi de un tutore cu un bilet valid.

ARTmania can guarantee ticket validity and authenticity only if bought directly from ARTmania or authorized vending points. Participants at ARTmania events must have an intact and valid ticket, before and during the whole duration of the event. When asked for it by a ARTmania representative, the ticket must be presented. ARTmania Festival organizers are not responsible for the loss, alienation, deterioration or breaking of the bracelets received on location access. Breaking, destroying or deteriorating the bracelets will immediately result in the denied access on festival perimeters. Children under 14 are not allowed unless accompanied. Presence of children under 5 or of children strollers is not reccomended. Children who have not turned 12 before the first day of the festival are granted free access if accompanied by a ticket paying tutor.

ARTmania Festival Access Este interzis accesul cu aparate de filmat; aparate foto profesionale sau semi -profesionale (cu obiectiv detaşabil), aparate de înregistrare audio-video, cu excepţia camerelor de fotografiat compacte; obiecte contondente, arme sau obiecte/materiale ce pot fi considerate periculoase; recipiente de sticlă, metal, plastic (recipientele din plastic sunt permise doar în Sibiu Arena); sticle, artificii, bannere susţinute de beţe, scaune, arme, lanţuri, obiecte periculoase, băuturi şi a următoarelor tipuri de obiecte (permise doar în Sibiu Arena): spray-uri, parfumuri, umbrele, bidoane de plastic, conserve sau mâncare; animale, cu excepţia animalelor însoţitor pentru persoanele cu dizabilităţi; substanţe interzise prin lege. Accesul cu medicamente este permis doar în baza reţetei medicale aferente.

Acces will be denied with filming cameras; professional photo or semi-professional photo cameras (with detachable lens), audio- video recording devices; blunt objects, weapons or objects/materials that can be considered dangerous; glass, metal and plastic recipients (plastic ones are allowed only within Sibiu Arena); bottles, tins, fireworks, banners on wooden sticks, chairs, weapons, chains, sharp objects, drinks and the following types of items (which are allowed only within Sibiu Arena): plastic cans, sprays, perfumes, umbrellas or food; animals, except for guide animals for disabled people; law forbidden substances. Access with medication is allowed only if a valid medical prescriptions is presented.

Forţele de ordine au dreptul să nu permită accesul persoanelor sub 14 ani neînsoţite, persoanelor agresive, aflate sub influenţa drogurilor sau alcoolului. Încălcarea acestor prevederi, precum şi orice formă de comportament violent, pot atrage restricţionarea accesului sau evacuarea din locaţiile evenimentului. Fiecare participant este răspunzător pentru pagubele provocate.

Security teams have the right to ban the access of children under 14 years of age who are not accompanied by an adult, of aggressive individuals or those intoxicated. Violating these rules, as well as any form of violent behavior will lead to access restriction or even evacuation from festival premises. Every participant is responsible for the damage caused.
