BRIAN

BERNHARD After 25 years of exploring the art world, I have learned that I am obsessed with the creative process. My artistic expression has encompassed just about every media one can think of…from painting, drawing & photography to video, music & performance art. I have produced documentaries about hundreds of other artists, creative thinkers and visionaries from all over the globe…plucking out the “hows" and the “whys" so I could learn directly from my artistic heroes and share that valuable knowledge with the world. I have taken all of this curiosity for process and infused it into my current series of artworks. This current series of works is a journey into the heart of creative flow. I begin with a simple image…like a heart, a flower or an eye, and then I dig in. I drill down as far as the journey takes. Each painting, mural, drawing or illustration has its own life and story, taking many weeks or months to complete. I place the blank canvas, paper or wall in front of me and open up my senses, allowing all of my life experience to flow through. I let the universe guide my adventure… allowing myself to get lost within the narrative, so that I can find my way out to a satisfying and balanced ending.

“Worried Tiki” Ink on paper 10” X 10”

Recently, I have launched a lifestyle brand for weirdos, called “Embrace the Weird”; designing an array of bold and exciting wearable art products based on my current creative ow. I see each product as a unique design challenge, like a canvas all its own...and each piece is its very own work of art. It has been an amazing creative endeavor to develop an independent sustainable art business that provides unique value to my patrons while supporting me enough to keep creating and building my unconventional artistic vision. www.brianabernhard.com contact@brianabernhard.com

BROOKE

SAUER

Brooke Sauer lives in Los Angeles, CA. When she is not working in the studio she spends a lot of time in nature. She has exhibited her work at spaces like LA Louver, the UCLA Hammer Museum, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, to name a few. She has been working as part of the collaborative duo, B&T for over ten years, however, in the past few years she has returned to her solo practice in painting, collage and sculpture. Her newest piece, In Search of Treasure, is a series of hand cut collages that explore the relationship between humans and nature. She places photos of regular people and stands them on top of stone minerals. This is intended to recreate her fantasies of shrinking down to the size of an insect and exploring the intricate details of these magnificent stones and encourage the viewer to derive their own narrative; place themselves in the tiny landscape that they see before them. www.brookesauer.com

CARL SHUBS Carl Shubs is a fine art photographer, based in Los Angeles. He has exhibited in numerous galleries and exhibits in Southern California and has had his photographs published in several highly regarded online magazines. He prefers to shoot whatever catches his eye as he goes out into the world, without studio setup or extra lighting. He calls these photos “found images,” which is a combination of street photography and photojournalism, even when it may happen in a studio. Subject matter might be anything, including people, singular scenes like Ground Zero after 9/11, a boy in a lingerie shop, a tree in the middle of nowhere with sneakers hanging from it at moonrise, reflections off a window, or something about shapes, patterns, or colors. He calls the latter "urban abstracts" and "urban graphics."

His work explores unique perspectives on events and objects in daily life that reveal truths or examine who we are and the world we live in. He is drawn to images that spark an emotion, rouse his curiosity, or stir his intellect. His photos may inspire people to look beyond the mundane of everyday life and see the humanity and beauty that surrounds us. He likes to let each image speak for itself and elicit in the viewer whatever it might, in a Rorschach-like fashion. His photos are typically presented without compositing or major Photoshop editing, which he calls “straight photography.” carl@carlshubsphotography.com www.carlshubsphotography.com

ELJOEDELRIO

Based in Los Angeles, CA, singer-songwriter and recording artist El Joe of the River presents a sound that is the result of an amalgam of influences ranging from Spanish guitar to Hip-Hop. A focused approach to lyrical rhythm and delivery show ostensibly in his vocal attack and timbre, while delicate and deliberate chord constructs make his guitar work immediately recognizable.
