Liverpool Art Fair is back for a seventh year in the summer of 2018! After the huge success of our move to the Pier Head, we will once again be taking up residence on Liverpool Waterfront this summer. Come along and experience the work of some of the region’s most talented visual artists, and with prices starting at just £20 you won’t leave empty handed!

THE ART NEWSPAPER
ADVENTURES WITH VAN GOGH BY MARTIN BAILEY
Our long-standing correspondent Martin Bailey writes for us on a wide range of stories, including much acclaimed investigative pieces, but his personal passion is Vincent van Gogh. He has written a number of books on the artist, most recently Starry Night: Van Gogh at the Asylum (available through Amazon in the UK and US), published on 27 August. He has also curated several exhibitions, and is co-curator of Tate Britain’s eagerly anticipated Van Gogh in Britain show, which opens in March 2019. I am delighted that he is now going to write a weekly blog for The Art Newspaper over the coming months, which will be published every Friday and, as always with Martin, will break new ground. His stories will range from newsy or diary items about this most intriguing artist, to scholarly pieces based on his own meticulous investigations and discoveries. I am sure that you will enjoy following his ‘adventures’ with Van Gogh. Look out for the first blog, exceptionally launched on Monday 27 August alongside his new book.

A NICE BREEZE FROM EAST TO WEST AN INTERVIEW WITH KIRAN SHAH BY ASYA SEVDALINOVA DZHANKOVA
1. Hello Kiran Salim Shah. Congratulations to being selected artist for Metamorphosis . What is the message linked to the artwork you have shown in this exhibition? How is it connected to the theme of the Metamorphosis Art Festival in Barcelona? To find one’s true self within the mundane is essentially the route to self development. Metamorphosis is a quite process, the transformation of the ordinary into the extraordinary in an unnoticable stealth. My work is all about capturing the ordinary and the beauty within the mundane. The purpose of my artwork is showcasing the expressionless submission of a person to the monotony of life and shamelessly finding his true self in the process. Or losing himself entirely.Â

3. What’s the art tip you usually receive? Do visitors’ suggestions enrich yourself and your art? The Urdu Signboards in my paintings have come along as my Identity as an artist and has been much appreciated. i have been advised by many to continue with the same style and polish it further. Sinclair The Vandal INTERVIEW
Sinclair The Vandal is a self taught artist whose technique, style and materials translate his experience in the graffiti culture of the 80’s and 90’s of New York City to painting on canvas. His intuitive nature and control of choice media coupled with his inspiration and interest in experimentation give his work intensity and complexity that blur the lines between its elevated status as “a painting” and its roots as urban “street art.” As he has transitioned into the traditional ideas of “Abstract and Fine art” his asymmetrical approach to art making is surely notable. When asked the first time about his media, he responded with a casual Shrug, “Spray Paint.”

MIGS ART INTERVIEWÂ
Most recently, I've had the amazing opportunity to design a larger than life public art piece for the City of West Hollywood. I was able to express my love for the City that has accepted me personally and more-so broaden my scope of who I am and what I can offer to the world. My challenge was to convert a poem which had 100s of city specific themes and express them all in 1 piece of art that resides in the courtyard of West Hollywood City Hall on Santa Monica & Sweetzer. If you have time, I would highly suggest stopping by to check it out -Miguel Andrisani
