Dear Leader, You may be a parent, a spiritual parent, a Connect Group Leader, a pastor or an older sibling. No matter which role you play, you now have this awesome joy and privilege to lead a child or group of children in their new beginning in Jesus Christ.

Hi boys and girls! We are the Junior New Beginnings Adventure team – Paul and Esther!

Christianity is about relationships rather than rules. Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to love God and the second, to love our neighbour. So these lessons are based on their new: • • •

Relationship with God (Lesson 1 and 2) Relationship with other Christians (Lesson 3) Relationship with those who need to know God (Lesson 4)

As you lead the new Christian, please adopt a friendly and approachable attitude. You are one of their first impressions of the family of God and this will determine if they want to come back to your Connect Group or your church. If the child cannot read, take time to read and explain the lesson to them. There are activities in the lessons to reinforce their learning. Most importantly, help them to apply these learnings in their life. Remember, it is not about completing lessons – it is about building new relationships and foundations. Before you hand the new Christian their ‘Junior New Beginnings’ book, please detach the stickers from it and keep them for use later. After each lesson, reward the child for memorizing the Power Word by giving them a sticker to paste in the boxes provided on the last page. Depending on the age and ability of the child, encourage them to memorize it as accurately as possible. Above all, pray for these spiritual ‘babes’ in Christ. Pray for their needs and act as if you were Jesus to them. Have an exciting time investing in your children! Note for leaders: Bible verses are paraphrased for children to understand.

We love God and we are here to share with you our great adventure of exploring and discovering fun ways to grow in your Christian journey! At the end of each discovery, you will find a treasure box that has God’s words to treasure! We are really excited to take you through this journey! Are you ready? (Give us a LOUD “YES!” if you are ready!)

TRUTH #1

TRUTH #2

I was separated from God by sin.

I cannot save myself...…

What is sin? Sin is saying, doing, thinking wrong things like… a. I choose to do things my way instead of God’s way b. Lying, cheating, stealing All these separate me from God!

6

Junior New Beginnings

a. Doing good works b. Believing in other gods There is NO WAY I can reach God because of my sin!

TRUTH #3

Only Jesus can save me! God loves me and wants me to be saved, so He made a way for me to go back to Him. The only way to God is through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him may not be lost, but have eternal life.

What does that mean? It means that I must ask God to forgive my sins, and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be my saviour and God.

But how? Step 1 : I must ask God to forgive my sins Step 2 : Ask Jesus to come into my heart and be my God and friend

KEY POINT

High-five boys and girls! Yay! Now that we have discovered what you can pray about, let’s find out how God answers our prayers!

When God says ‘YES!’, that means when you ask God for something, God gives it to you.

You say “Praise God! Thank you God!”

When God says “NO!”, that means when you ask God for something, God does not give it to you because He has something better for you.

You say “I will obey!”

When God says “WAIT!”,

that means when you ask God for something and have not received it, you will have to learn to be patient.

You say “I will wait for God’s time!”

14

TRUTH #1

Who are the people in God’s family? The people in God’s family are our pastors, teachers, Connect Group leaders, parents and other Christians. They represent different parts of God’s family just like our bodies have different parts – hands, legs, eyes, mouth, and nose!

TRUTH #2

What do they do as part of God’s family? Just like our bodies have many parts and each part does a different thing, they teach and help us know God better and also pray with us! TRUTH #3

What is the Church? The Church is God’s family coming together to worship God, read the Bible and pray together. Find out more about the Church a long time ago in the Bible, in the Book of Acts. (Read Acts 2:43-47)
