NEWS

The really random neswletter all about my art. Welcome again to the second helping of Tony Nero’s Art, newsletter.

Black Heroes at ‘Sharing Bread’ I was actually wondering what to put on this issue’s cover, but the more I looked at this picture of King

Don and myself, the more I realised it had to be this one. This picture of us was taken at the event ‘Sharing Bread’ which was held at William de Yaxley Junior school on the 14th May. King Don was there with his steel drum, adding the cool sounds of the Caribbean to the event. Read more inside.

Extracts of me part The London Exhibition

2

The long awaited London exhibition was held on Saturday 21st May at St Bartholomew Church Stamford Hill, London. Fresh from the recent exhibition in Stamford Lincolnshire, this diverse collection of work, joined by the Black Heroes collection was well recieved by all who attended the exhibition. There was also a small painting up for grabs in a raffle and 15% of all sales going to the church.

Lydia Russell visited the apples, ‘Fallen 1’ and ‘Fallen 2’ three times at the Pieces of a Dream exhibition and on the last day after walking out, she came back and said ‘I have to have them’. She wrote in my book, I loved them so much I bought them.

Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios Three weekends of art, Sat & Sun 11th - 26th June

Black Heroes at ‘Sharing Bread’ Co-ordinated by teacher Gary Huskisson with the help and support of headmaster Mr Cooper and staff, the event was off to a running start and with a variety of foods and a football tournament the day was well enjoyed by all who attended. My Heroes collection was full on display and it didn’t take much encouragement to get the kids drawing a picture of Bob Marley. Just a few of the Heroes made it to the Gunthorpe Junior School’s event on Thursday 19th May but as usual the pieces were well recieved.

As part of the Peterborough Artist Open Studios, this year I will be showing with artist Veronika Leontyeva

Tiger painting inspires tattoo After visiting one of my exhibitions and seeing the oil painting, ‘Wild Extinction’, Kevin Rollins was totally inspired to get the image tattooed onto his back. Above the first stages of the tattoo and below the original painting. This image was first produced in the 70’s as a small pen and ink stipple dot drawing and then a couple of years ago as an oil on canvas painting.

‘The Edge of Hunstanton’ is one of my most recent paintings which depicts the red cliffs at Hunstanton. This new painting was completed at the end of March to show at the Friends of St Marys Open exhibition in April, in Whittlesey. The seaside is one of those places that you can let yourself go and embrace the wonders of the world. This painting can now be seen at Harriets Gallery in the center of Peterborough. The picture below taken at the exhibition open evening.

Actor and former Eastenders star David Proud, signs my drawing of himself, which will soon be sold to raise funds for local charity ASBAH. After finally catching up with David he was more than happy to sign the drawing for such a good cause.
