‘African Animal Studies 1’ - $1850 In June 2012, I travelled to Kruger National Park, South Africa to spend time observing and drawing animals on game park reserves. As an advocate of working en plein air, this trip presented me with the opportunity to produce work with greater sincerity and familiarity with my subject matter. Drawings were executed swiftly as I sought to make marks that seized a moment when a quintessential quality of these animals was revealed to me.
‘African Animal Studies 2’ - $1250 Drawings in this work are redrawn from sketches and notes taken in my visual diary from an expedition to Kruger National Park in South Africa. These drawing indicate special encounters and memories that I felt compelled to record.
the artist Jody Graham Jody Graham is a Sydney-based artist whose work encompasses drawing, mixed media, sculpture and installation. Fascinated by the energy, visual chaos and dark soul of the city, particularly its construction and industrial sites and older buildings, Jody is known for her bold, expressive urban landscapes, exploring themes of impermanence, loss and erasure and “documenting what’s happening before our eyes.”
Jody Graham sydney, australia
At the core of Jody’s practice is drawing. She enjoys the directness of plein air sketching on site as the basis for larger works back in the studio and loves to make candid pen studies of people in public places. “Drawing encourages me to keep looking, searching, and to really see things.”
Drawing is fundamental to my practice, as it is how I acquire knowledge and understand the world I inhabit. I aspire to produce work that embraces the awe and delight I experience while observing and drawing. Unframed Artwork mounted on acid free paper with a passepartout. the artist Kevin Venardo Art is my life! I got serious about my art & creativity in the early 70’s. Creating works in acrylic, charcoal, pastel, ink, clay, wire & fabric, as well as photography. Inspired by interesting, colourful people & the wonderful work of nature. Texture & patina are a huge favourite to create along with unusual found objects. I have a strong hunger for the way humans decorate the body in all cultures – native, tribal & western. My work in design, art & creativity has taken me to New York, Cincinnati, Fiji & Australia.
Kevin Venardo sydney, australia
Working in my Sydney studio constantly creating new art & objects brings me great pleasure.
