ABOUT THE ARTISTS La Santa Cecilia Los Angeles’ GRAMMY–Winning Musical Ambassadors Of A Young Bilingual/Bicultural Generation Los Angeles–based quartet La Santa Cecilia have gone from performing on the streets of Los Angeles to being called The Best Latin Alternative Band of 2012–13 by LA Weekly. They take their name from the patron saint of musicians, and represent the epitome of the new bi-cultural generation—fully immersed in the modern music and art of the country they have called home from their youngest days. La Santa Cecilia adventurously fuses together a new sound that also pays homage to the rich traditions of their Mexican heritage. Fronted by the distinctively strong voice of Marisol “La Marisoul” Hernandez, the often irreverent, but always artistically serious band is composed of accordionist and requintero José “Pepe” Carlos, bass player Alex Bendeña, and percussionist Miguel “Oso” Ramirez. In 2013 the band shared the stage and collaborated with artists such as Elvis Costello, Ryan Bingham, Stevie Wonder, Los Lobos, and Los Lonely Boys. La Santa Cecilia started 2015 with sold-out club dates; a Latin GRAMMY nomination (with 2014 GRAMMY win already to their credit); a creative partnership with the innovative multiple award-winning producer Sebastian Krys; and a major record label deal with Universal Latin. Produced by Krys, their 2014 album Someday New features seven new tracks, which include heartfelt Spanglish rendition of The Beatles iconic “Strawberry Fields Forever,” plus the unforgettable Mexican classic “Como Dios Manda,” as well as a fresh new radio–edit of “Monedita,” and the full version of their moving and militant “ICE – El Hielo.” Someday New is a bilingual album featuring an eclectic style that combines different rhythms and genres. From norteño and bossa nova, to soul and rock, the album’s rich and diverse mix offers a broad experience that will please all kinds of music listeners. Continuing the band’s work with producer Krys, their new single, “I Won’t Cry for You,” fuses mainstream English and traditional Mexican musical genres. In “I Won’t Cry for You,” the always colorful quartet adds a propulsive rhythm of old school swing jazz to their unique blend of pop, rock, accordion, driven norteño and the signature rich vocal range of heralded singer La Marisoul. Released on August 28 via iTunes, the single will soon be followed by the band’s next Spanish-language single release in 2016. Their music was the soundbed of many movies, documentaries, and television series, including “The Bridge” on FX and “Weeds” on Showtime.
