CSMA inspires excellence through art and music education for people of all ages and abilities.

Dear Friends and Supporters, I’m proud to be a part of the Community School of Music and Arts as we celebrate 50 years of art and music education here in Mountain View. CSMA was founded in 1968 by two music educators, Natalie Werbner & Joan Van Stone, with $150 in start-up capital, 28 students and 10 volunteer music teachers. From those humble beginnings, the school has grown into a unique non-profit center for arts education with an incredible variety of music and visual arts programs. In 2017-2018, CSMA inspired over 30,000 students of all ages and backgrounds with private lessons, music and art classes, camps, art exhibitions and free community concerts. Though they come from all walks of life, the one thing all of our students have in common is a shared belief in the importance and power of the arts. None of the school’s phenomenal growth or success would be possible without the generous support of government, foundation and corporate funders, and individuals like you who believe that everyone deserves access to the arts. On behalf of the CSMA staff, faculty, board of directors and most of all, our students, thank you. Take a look back at the last 50 amazing years, and join us in our journey forward. With warm regards, Vickie Scott Grove, Executive Director Community School of Music and Arts
