Wine Down You’ve had a long day. Maybe work was especially challenging – maybe your children were especially challenging! Maybe stresses and cares are weighing you down. Maybe you were unable to practice yoga, meditation, or a kickbutt boot camp class because you were busy. We get it! A glass of your favorite, most relaxing wine can help you find a minute to yourself. We’re not talking about grabbing a glass while you’re frantically cooking dinner, answering emails, cleaning up, or trying to get fussy toddlers into bed. We’re talking about taking the time to savor wine to relax. Enjoy a glass of wine at dinner. It will calm you without impacting your ability to sleep. If you drink too much before bed, you’ll not be able to get your best quality Zzzz’s. Take your time. Pour a chilled glass of unoaked chardonnay or silky merlot. Stop and take the time to savor the unique flavors. Breathe deeply. You may wonder what’s the most relaxing wine? The one that you enjoy most! Although, there is some evidence to suggest that red wine is most associated with relaxation. But if you’re a whitewine drinker, go for it! Opt for organic wines. You can relax knowing exactly what you are putting into your body – and what you are not. No preservatives. No chemicals. No impurities. Just carefully tended grapes meticulously transformed into soothing, organic wine. Drinking wine to relax is indeed a time-honored tradition. When you make it an experience that is calm, comforting, and quiet, you may just find the stress relief you need! Kimberly M. Ross

Poetry Submissions Your Own Flesh and Blood - s.k. devita The pain in my chest is real even though there is no wound, The weapon was not just words but actions, Leaving me with this pain in my chest, I thought I knew you. I reached out trying to clarify the meaning, Needing to understand, No explanation came, Just a reply of "nice story". Did you even read it? Do you care enough? Don't you know this touches us deeply? Your own flesh and blood. Asking time and time again, You still do not grant my wish, I try to prevent a hostile environment, You pick and you prod. I try to ignore the problem, To do as I observed you doing so many times, To sweep problems under the rug, I can't remain silent anymore. Did you know I looked up to you? Do you know your actions are seen by the younger generation? Don't you know they question your actions? Your own flesh and blood. You are one of my weaknesses, I am who I am because of you, You wanted me to be strong, I will stand up for those that are wronged. You don't see the damage that has been done, If you do, you remain silent about this, I don't know if we will ever be right after this, You need to put in the effort to bridge this chasm. Did it hurt when I cut communications? Do you know you broke my heart? Don't you know this affects our whole family? Your own flesh and blood.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO READ DAILY? I love books and I love to read. Everyone should read at least 15-20 minutes per day. This is something that we learned early in elementary school. Daily readers know that reading makes them feel good and they enjoy getting lost in a good story. A great book takes readers to another place. Most of us don't really need an excuse to pick up a book. But if you're looking for reasons to feel good about reading or simply want to find ways to spread the good word about how it's essential to our overall well-being - here are a few fun facts that I believe you'll enjoy! 1. Reading Improves Brain Function - A person who reads every day gets better at it over time. Not surprisingly, daily readers also gain more enjoyment from it than those that read less often. It can even improve memory and critical thinking skills. And activities like reading have been linked to a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease. 2. Reading Reduces Stress - Reading may reduce stress more than walking, listening to music or playing games. When people read a really engrossing book it actively engages their imagination, which in turn distracts from daily stresses (at least for a little while). 3. Reading Can Improve Your State of Mind- People who are well-read tend to be more empathetic and have higher self-esteem. When we read about other people it introduces the idea that people are human. We're all different, we have flaws, things are not always perfect and that's okay. 4. Reading Improves Overall Wellness- Spending 30 minutes a day reading a good book does a body good (and burns calories - who knew?). People who read daily may live longer. And reading before bed can help improve sleep. Just try not to stay up all night reading unless you have zero obligations the next day. 5. Reading Aloud to Children Has a Lasting Impact- Reading aloud to children from day one is incredibly important. And making it part of the daily routine helps children to cultivate good reading habits and a love of reading. It can have a lasting impact on a child's life. These children tend to have higher vocabularies and often become frequent readers themselves. Author Kimberly M. Ross

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING TIPS In the digital age we are living in, sometimes it is difficult to keep up with the newest trends to stay ahead of the game. This quarter we will focus on hashtags. Posting to social media can be fun but if you want to get your post in front of the right people you need to make sure you are tagging the post with hashtags if you want new people to discover you and what you are offering them. Finding the right hashtags to use can be a little overwhelming. There are several tools on the internet to help you with this. I am going to walk you through what I did to grow my Instagram account from less than 50 followers (all friends and family) to a following of over 300 in a little over two months. First I started researching who is my target audience. Once I have that narrowed down I found this handy website www.best-hashtags.com. I then put in my selected audience. Example: Poetry The website brings back two groupings of hashtags for poetry 30 each as that is the max you can post inside Instagram. I copy both of these and merge them into one group of 30 and I saved the group of hashtags in a Microsoft OneNote file or Word file. At this time I have 6 groupings of hashtags I use on a regular basis. If you find you are not getting a consistent stream of views then you may need to tweak your hashtags. by: s.k. devita

ANAE MEMBERSHIP
Hey! As you all know the Arts & Authors Extravaganza (ANAE) is celebrating 10 years in August. Most of you have been following me on this journey since the beginning, in 2011.
