2017/2018
PERFORMANCE SEASON
WELCOME Welcome to The ArtsCenter’s 2017/2018 Performance Season! The artists we have selected for this season represent a variety of styles from Folk to Soul and Bluegrass to Jazz, but what they all share is artistic excellence. All of them are leaders in their fields—well-known legends and up-and-coming innovators who use their musical talents to make us feel and think about the world around us. This is the second year that The ArtsCenter has presented a full season of artists. The response to last year’s season was tremendous, as loyal audiences enjoyed discovering a new favorite artist, and patrons coming to The ArtsCenter for the first time became devoted fans themselves. During the last twelve months, over 90,000 patrons have come through our doors for a program, class or event. We presented over 60 shows and offered over 300 classes through our ArtSchool and Youth Arts programs. To ensure that our programming is accessible to all, we provided over $50,000 in scholarships and free tuition to classes, performances and camps for our community. If you haven’t checked out The ArtsCenter lately—stop by and see what’s new! This forty-two-year-old institution continues to evolve and grow, and we invite you to join us on the journey. We know you’ll find something you love in our upcoming season. Thank you for supporting our mission to educate and inspire the creative impulse in all of us!

BILL FRISELL: HARMONY FEATURING PETRA HADEN
Bill Frisell, one of the most sought-after innovators in contemporary guitar music, has convened a new ensemble consisting of acclaimed vocalist Petra Haden, cellist Hank Roberts, and multi-instrumentalist Luke Bergman to perform HARMONY, a sprawling and evocative trip through the landscape of American music of the last century. Interspersing re-arranged traditionals and popular favorites such as “Oh Shenandoah” and Pete Seeger’s “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” with instrumentals reminiscent of Frisell’s work on his own Big Sur (2013), HARMONY links the past, present and future of American roots music.
