You can also join our email database to be the first to get Quay News as it happens! Just get in contact and we’ll add you.
There are likely to be changes to the way we ticket events coming soon but it’s nothing for anyone to be concerned about – it will be a mixture of technology (scanning) and physical tickets where requested. We are also working on digital gift tokens and online credit redemption, so keep an eye out for news on that!

Catch them in the UK before it’s too late! Comprised of British brothers Nate, Mark and Kieran Bass, Essex County is one of country music’s most artful and nuanced groups. Steve and his band, Geronimo, have become well-known for their interpretations of Neil Young. Logan Dankworth, columnist and Twitter warrior, grew up romanticising the political turmoil of the 1980s. Now, as the EU Referendum looms he is determined to be in the political fray. The Quay Book Club meets in the bar on the first Tuesday of every month and is an informal and sociable small group. It is free and all are welcome. Meeting times are 7.30pm - 9.30pm. Keep an eye on the website for dates and book details.
Sudbury Chess Club meet in the Quay Bar on Wednesdays from 7.30pm. A small and friendly club who welcome players of all ages and abilities, for social and competitive chess.

The Quay Playreaders meet in the Geoff Kisby Room at the top of the building on the third Wednesday of each month from 7.30pm. It is free to attend but a small charge may be made to cover scripts. It is particularly good for those who have an interest in theatrical readings but perhaps are not looking to perform on stage. A very friendly bunch! The Quay Bar is open for refreshments throughout.

Get ready for a supercharged set of rock and blues from the UK’s only touring Gary Moore tribute show. This brand-new show covers all the eras of this British icon’s musical career from the early days with Thin Lizzy, through the 80s with melodic rock and on to the 90's blues era.
This professional 4-piece band is made up of guitar, bass, drums and keys and has played a collective 9000 shows all over the world. Each musician is a leader in their own field but the magic that happens when they are all together must be heard to be believed.

Blackheart Orchestra is officially the smallest orchestra in the world. Two people playing 13 instruments between them. Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington perform in a ‘musical space station’ of instruments including guitar, bass, percussion, mandola, piano, organ, omnichord and their collection of vintage synthesisers. Trespass, formed in 1979 in Sudbury by Mark Sutcliffe on guitar and vocals and his brother Paul on Drums, enjoyed success and critical acclaim as part of the New wave of British Heavy Metal.
Still fronted by founding member Mark and now joined by talented local musicians Joe Fawcett (guitar), Jason Roberts (drums) and Wil Wilmot (bass), Trespass have a brand new album out in early 2023. The lads will be playing a set of songs from across the decades and right up to the latest release. They have played the Quay many times over the years and used to rehearse in the Quay building in its very early years as a theatre!

Miss Pettigrew, a dowdy governess down on her luck, is sent for a job to the wrong address and encounters the glamorous nightclub singer Miss Delysia LaFosse - and over the course of a day becomes more involved and enamoured by the life of Miss LaFosse and her set – and blossoms!
Quay Productions and Pelham Elliott Productions are thrilled that The Quay Theatre will see the premiere of the first stage adaptation of the much-loved modern classic, a fun and light-hearted story set in the Thirties. This adaptation is approved by the literary estate of the author, Winifred Watson. This is an amateur production and a fundraiser for The Quay.

Royal Ballet Founder Choreographer Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Ashton’s timeless reworking of Charles Perrault’s famous rags-to-riches story returns, showcasing the choreographer’s deft musicality and the beauty of Prokofiev’s score.

When a priceless painting goes missing at Lord and Lady Raeburn’s auction, Detective Stuart Pidcock is called to uncover the mystery. Widely respected as the voice of Test Match Special ‘Blowers’, Henry Blofeld brings his wit and wisdom to the stage. It’s not all about cricket though, instead focusing on Henry’s life story, although there’s time for as many after-dinner anecdotes and digressions as there is in a Test Match Special rain break. Henry pokes fun at himself with subjects veering from intergalactic travel to horticulture to mountaineering. Audiences are always sure of an evening of great tales from this quintessential Englishman.

Following a pilot test reading at The Quay in 2022, Tim Marriott is pleased to present the UK premiere of the full production of Jack’s Ashes in association with The Quay Theatre. Former professional cricketer Jack gives his team talk, but wickets fall like a ticking time bomb and the anecdotes from the ashes of his career prove less than inspirational. As he pads up to be the last man in to go out and save the day, ‘Jack's Ashes’ offers a humorous insight into the mental frailties that can cloud the mind and the distractions that can lead to ruin. Developed in consultation with professional sports bodies and mental health charities, ‘Jack's Ashes’ is designed to reduce stigma and promote conversation about mental fitness.

A visually stunning and theatrical tribute to the legendary Pink Floyd. The Quay Bar hosts a variety of events, some of which are currently not quite back up and running after the pandemic.
Our monthly open performance on the last Sunday of every month. Bring your instruments or just your voice - acoustics only, readings allowed, no mics please! Starts at 7pm.
We have many more events in the pipeline, including our popular quiz, music nights and special food and drink events. Keep an eye on the website and our social media to find out when these are up and running again.

The Quay Plant Market will be held from 10am on Sudbury’s Market Hill on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May, with up to 20 businesses selling a huge variety of shrubs and plants from local nurseries and those further afield.
The ideal gift is a voucher to spend at the Quay Theatre for a night out. Vouchers must be redeemed in person.
We welcome assistance dogs at all performances. Please advise us when booking tickets.
Our auditorium can accommodate up to three wheelchair users. Please advise us at the time of booking if you require a wheelchair space.
Because of licensing regulations, no person may be admitted to a performance without a valid ticket. This provision includes babes in arms and other small children, as well as wheelchair users and assistance dogs. (Please see ACCESS)
The theatre’s spaces are available for hire when not being used for shows. This includes our ‘rehearsal’ studio, The Jetty; the Geoff Kisby Room (kitchen adjacent); the Auditorium (live and screenings); the Cinema and the Bar.
