AFter the Show

Think back…Which colors did you see on stage? Talk about…If you were part of the show, what color would you want to be? How would you make your color and move it around? Show your ideas to a friend. Think about…Dr. Seuss says, “Some days are yellow. Some are blue. On different days, I’m different, too.” Can you imagine days as colors? What color would today be to you? What about yesterday? Why?

Discover All the Colors Around You

Find Me. Now that you have found colors

Look for things that are the same color and use your senses to talk about them. Here are some ideas to get you started:

here and in the theater, look for them around your neighborhood. Name and count as many colors as you can see. Which color shows up the most? On a piece of paper, use crayons or markers to draw the most colorful things on your street.

An orange fruit and an orange carrot—What do they look like? Feel like? Taste like? Sound like when you bite into them? Green grass and green leaves—What do they look like? Feel like? Smell like?

Move Me. How would you move like the color red? Blue? Show your ideas to friends and try moving like other colors, too. With a small group, you can even play a game where one person chooses a color, and everyone moves like that color at the same time. Watch how people see and move to color in different ways.

A red fire truck and a red bird (like a cardinal)—What do they look like? Sound like? Choose some of the colorful things from around your home and tell a story with them. If you like, imagine them as other things, like using a carrot as a microphone.

Explore Me. Get to know colors using your senses: What do they look like?

What do they sound like?

What do they feel like?

Remember Me. Use all the exciting things you’ve learned about colors to discover and enjoy colors everywhere. Colors can help you play, dance, draw, tell stories, and imagine all sorts of things. All you need to do? Keep finding, moving, exploring, and remembering .

What do they smell like? What do they taste like (if a grownup says it’s okay to taste)?
