L-E-V

November 16-18, 2017 | Lincoln Hall, PSU

SPELLBINDING L-E-V FROM ISRAEL As we move into the holidays, we are delighted to bring back L-E-V with Sharon Eyal’s and Gai Behar’s mesmerizing OCD Love. Two years ago we introduced this exceptional Israeli company with Sara and Killer Pig, two works that surprised and excited our Uncaged audiences.

Dicken’s Oliver Twist, Lifted is notable for Rennie’s integration of dazzling hip-hop movement with gospel music, which will be performed live. Tickets are going fast, so if you do not have your tickets yet, be sure to order them now online through our website.

This time Sharon and Gai are focused on obsessive compulsive disorder as reflected through their dancers’ attempts to find deep connection with one another. OCD Love is unsettling, disturbing yet ultimately exhilarating. It is amazing how committed L-E-V’s remarkable dancers are to Sharon Eyal’s intricate, highly physical movement.

White Bird tickets make wonderful gifts for the holidays—especially our popular Holiday Pack, 4 exciting shows, including Alvin Ailey, for only $98 (3rd level seating). You can place your order at our lobby table or order through whitebird.org.

After L-E-V, we look forward to seeing you back at Lincoln Hall on January 25–27 when we present a major new work Lifted from acclaimed choreographer Rennie Harris. Inspired by Charles

Our White Bird staff and board wish you a warm and festive holiday season.

TONIGHT’S PROGRAM

OCD LOVE RUNNING TIME 55 MINUTES, NO INTERMISSION.

L-E-V Dance Company, is proud to present a new L-E-V creation “OCD Love”. The creation is about love, about love that always misses, or lovers who keep missing each other. Out of sync. Like one person comes to bed and the other gets up. Like something that is full and intact, but has many holes in it. This work is about the holes. Once again, the dancers are dancing to the pulsating beats created by DJ Ori Lichtik. SHARON EYAL: “I see everything in the piece very dark, and in shadows, you and your shadow dancing. A lot of inspiration for the work comes from the text “OCD” by Neil Hilborn. This text is strong for me because I feel it reflects me so much. I couldn’t stop reading it. For me it was already choreography, or a mold you can put your inspiration in, yourself in.

It is the first time that the core of the piece is shaped in my head, and so figurative, before we have even begun working. I know the way it feels and smells. Like the end of the world, without mercy. A smell of flowers, but very dark. Like falling into a hole and not coming back. A lot of noise, but desperation for quiet. It’s not coming from a place that I want to make something sad, but something that I need to take out of myself, like a dark stone I have in my chest” TECHNICAL DIRECTOR ALON COHEN TOUR MANAGER & REHEARSAL MANAGER NIV MARINBERG INTERNATIONAL AGENT MENNO PLUKKER THEATRE AGENT, INC. ABOUT L- E- V Since 2006, collaborators Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar have been a significant voice in the artistic community, creating a continuous stream of critically acclaimed original works for dance companies around the world. L-E-V is the culmination of years of momentum, choreographed by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, accompanied by the original music of Ori Lichtik, delivered by fiercely talented dancers that move with expressive precision. L-E-V embodies a pledge to move and engage a diverse spectrum of new audiences and collaborators. All culminating in the breaking ground of L-E-V in 2013. www.lev-dance.com
