A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTORS WE L CO M E TO NOR TH WE ST CHIL D RE N’S THE ATE R’S FIR ST - E VER DIGITAL MAINS TAGE PRODU CTION! We would not be here without the support of our donors, patrons, and families. We want to start by thanking you all for continuing to support NWCT in this unprecedented time, by engaging in our online programming and classes, sharing our content throughout the community, and the countless kind words and messages we’ve received over the past few months. Northwest Children’s Theater is one of the first theaters in the country to be granted rights to adapt a major musical production for digital audiences. While this version of Seussical is different from the work NWCT typically creates for the stage, we remain dedicated to fulfilling our mission: To educate, entertain, and enrich the lives of young audiences. We also remain dedicated to telling the story with the same imagination and visual flair audiences have come to expect. We hope you’ve had a chance to check out the games, crafts, and recipes on our Seussical activity website. Our goal is to help families create a shared experience from the safety of home by offering activities that directly connect with the work the performers and creative team are doing.
In the spirit of Dr. Seuss, we continue to believe “anything’s possible.” We are so proud of our actors, creative team, and staff for pivoting so quickly to create something brand new. The full cast, originally slated to perform the on-stage version, has accepted the challenge of performing the digital version. In addition, the youth cast in Elephant & Piggie’s We are in a Play—which was cancelled due to the stay-at-home-order— were given the chance to perform in the Seussical ensemble. As the song from the show goes, “When your thinks have run dry, in the blink of an eye, there's another think there.” We are living in a different world now, making it more important than ever to stay connected to our community. Seussical’s positive messages of inclusion, advocacy and the power of our imagination could not be more timely. Sincerely,
Sarah Jane Hardy, Clara-Liis Hillier, & Emma Sanders
