ARTS LIBRIS 2011
ARTS LIBRIS 2011 YEAR 2 INTERNATIONAL ART AND DESIGN BOOK FAIR IN BARCELONA THURSDAY 14 TO SUNDAY 17 APRIL 2011 Arts Libris was the brainchild of Raíña Lupa Produccions, in conjunction with Arts Santa Mònica, whose goal is to promote and disseminate artists’ books in the fields of art and graphic experimentation. Arts Libris aims to bring together professionals, enthusiasts, producers and collectors. Artists’ books come in all shapes and forms but there are a number of values that link them to one another: the book as a work of art or site for graphic experimentation, the care taken with the editing, choice of paper, binding, and many more. By placing direct contact with the interested public and overall quality above commercial value, a collective is formed occupying the space between art, crafts, design, graphic arts and binding. This sector is one that has a long and rich tradition and a significant influence in Catalonia. The second ARTS LIBRIS Fair, from 14 to 17 April 2011, brings together 79 professional exhibitors from this country and abroad, with a show of work by Art and Design School students, 4 workshops for all ages and abilities, and 2 exhibitions: METAMORPHOSIS by Louise Bourgeois, and Camberwell College of Arts. PROGRAMME OF_ACTIVITIES LOUISE BOURGEOIS EXHIBITION: METAMORPHOSIS CLOISTER – DISPLAY CASE FLOOR 00 A Tribute to Louise Bourgeois on the centenary of her birth Exhibition of the book METAMORPHOSIS by Louise Bourgeois, published by Maria Fluxà and Galerie Lelong, Paris, in 1999 5 Prints: 29.5 x 29.5 cm each The Mallorcan collector and gallerist Maria Fluxà discovered the work of Louise Bourgeois in 1983. Ten years later the two women met for the first time. On the basis of that meeting, and the friendship that grew stronger over the years, Fluxà edited and published Bourgeois’s book Metamorphosis in conjunction with Galerie Lelong in Paris. The text and reproductions of photographs from the editor’s personal archives dialogue here with five etchings by Louise Bourgeois, made especially for the original edition of 1999. Arts Libris presents the book Metamorphosis, which the editor Albert Perelló has brought out in a facsimile edition. EXHIBITION CAMBERWELL COLLEGE OF ARTS BALCONY (FLOOR 01) Here are real talents. Some author, some perform, some make. All of them
take graphic design and make it their own. They engage fully in research, get knee-deep in the process and meticulously document it all.
