RESTORING OUR HISTORIC BUILDING IS A LABOR OF LOVE

ArtsWestchester continued its renovations and improvements to its historic home at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue. With the objective of beautifying and branding its exterior façade, the building’s original first floor windows were enlivened with the addition of custom-designed brise soleils that feature ArtsWestchester’s logo. The custom-built window decor adds vibrancy to the uniform windows of the former bank, better aligning its exterior façade with the building’s present function as a home for the arts. Additionally, on the Martine Avenue side of the building, ArtsWestchester installed ground-level poster cases that allow the organization to better promote its arts events and programming to pedestrians and vehicle traffic in the City of White Plains. With climate change an ongoing concern, ArtsWestchester has successfully converted every light fixture in the building to energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures. This overhaul has allowed ArtsWestchester to reduce its overall electricity consumption while bringing a modern feel to its artist spaces and creative offices. Two new energyefficient air conditioners are also on the way. In addition to new lighting, ArtsWestchester converted several individual offices into a shared co-working entrepreneurial hub introduced by the White Plains-based company Koi Creative Spaces.
