Le Boudoir by ez@ ArtTalks is taking you into an intimate place, Le Boudoir, exhibition by Ahmed Ezzat Aka ez@, whose paintings shall provoke and enchant your senses, on TUESDAY, December 15th at 6 pm. The Boudoir, a celebration of the beauty of the woman body, will welcome you till January 6th - Le Boudoir will feed your eyes and soul - with all the precautionary measures – “It is just a hypothesis that Egyptian bourgeoisie couples in 1950s through the 70s hung pictures of nude ladies above their beds. My parents and many of my relatives’ bedrooms had such paintings. I reached out to many friends asking if they had the same observation and quite a few concurred. Paintings were mostly in pastel or oil, gentle and not very revealing or seductive, reflecting femininity and beauty. It might have been a domestic trend or perhaps an international fashion that caught wind in Egypt. This collection of paintings opens the subject for reflection and thought. Was it the wife or the husband behind hanging these paintings? Why the bedroom? Was it intended to add beauty and romance in the bedroom? Was the bedroom the only sanctuary where such progressive art could be hanged away from the eyes of the guests in a relatively reserved society? Could the young generation follow suit with their parents or rather grandparents? This collection is slightly more revealing and intentionally mildly erotic to meet, what I felt was, the modern version of the mood of previous generations! I painted this collection on pajama Castor and upholstery Criton fabric. A palimpsest that adds other lives to these renderings. Both fabric types seem to be uniquely Egyptian as they are nonexistent anywhere else that I could identify. Choosing a relatively cheap fabric to commemorate bourgeoisie habits is not only based on the beauty and colors of the designs but also brings the bourgeoisie habits to the pop-art space.” Ahmed Ezzat.
