On Wednesday 3rd of April at 6 pm, ArtTalks is presenting “Nondualism”, a duo sculpture exhibition featuring 2 sculptors Rowaa ElDegwy and Tamer Ragab who both master the art of movement, balance and stability in their own specific philosophy. Non-dualism or “not two” or “one undivided without a second” is the non difference of subject and object, or non duality between subject and object. And it primarily refers to a mature state of consciousness and the teachings of emptiness. While balance and flexibility are the key point of their artworks, the softness of the outlines combined with the power of human spirit exude an amalgam of grace and enchantment. In their first exhibition at ArtTalks, they are introducing fiber glass sculptures to their bronze repertoire by redefining the fiber glass art that emerged five decades ago as a “revolutionary” new category of art that have propelled art since the 1960s. The other aspect of their artworks is characterized by the hue color patinas overlapping and blending together to create projections and recesses producing a pleasing visual combination. Merging softness of the figures and hardness of the material with position fixation of the axis with precision bring in tune the salient points of their designs.
ROWAA EL-DEGWY Rowaa El-Degwy (1985) sculptures are a work of balance and the pivotal movement of the figure. Her artworks are a focal delight focusing on stability while moving like a tornado in bronze and fiber with colored patina. She tackles with poetry the importance, strength and beauty of women wandering in a rigid world. She expresses the symbols of giving, power and perseverance in a care-free manner to prove the overcome of challenges by stressing on the balance point of the sculpture’s posture which is a proof of the mastership of her technique. The artworks of the exhibition reflect the internal positive energy and revolution on society holding a human message to deliver to the whole world: Women are the anchor and the inspiring force.

TA M E R R A G A B Tamer Ragab’s (1979) sculptures are an expression of the moving forces of nature and their effects upon the artworks. The wind is a key factor in his work and how it impacts the figure by changing it physical appearance: A movement experiment. Movement influences his sculpting to show the piece in a contradictory state through the winds either by capturing the sudden alt in the action or by imprisoning the piece motion. Adding to the movement effect, the statue’s stability point ensures its ability to create a flying effect. He stresses on the conflicting state of the invisible force of nature while expressing human’s mixture of emotions mental state throughout the portrait, or by using the strength of the figure facing the wind and their ability to fight the force. His sculptures are semi abstract compositions using different materials such as bronze, marble, granite and lately fiber to add an extra effect on the statue’s visual.
