The Melrose Gallery and Melrose
Arch will once again host an exciting annual exhibition of sculptural works by many of South Africa’s established and emerging talents from 30 August – 30 September 2018.
The inaugural sculpture fair in 2017 was extremely well received, attracting many of South Africa’s most respected sculptors, large audiences, extensive media exposure and impressive sales results.
The exhibition takes place within The Melrose Gallery’s large, modern, 290sqm space, which is perfectly suited to sculptural work and flows onto numerous public spaces within the precinct.

explore further during SculptX’ says Zanele Mashumi, curator of The Melrose Gallery.
As part of SculptX 2018 The Melrose Gallery will be working with a panel of parties influential within this genre to plan a series of dialogues and talks to discuss issues of relevance to South African and African sculpture. This programme will be listed on www.themelrosegallery.com and promoted on www.facebook.com/themelrosegallery and entrance to the public will be free.
It is also exciting to note that many of the large sculptures are destined to remain within the public areas for extended periods to create a permanent urban sculpture park ‘We hope that the SculptX Sculpture Park becomes a popular destination for residents and tourists who are visiting Johannesburg’, says Mike Vermaak, General Manager of Melrose Arch.
