Jo Dyer
AVAILABLE WORKS Musa Velutina and the Argovia works were both inspired by Jo’s trip to Mexico to visit her partner’s family late last year. His parents live in Southern Mexico near the border of Guatemala and when the opportunity arose to paint a mural in their home town of Tapachula they decided to visit a flower farm / coffee plantation in the mountains called Argovia for inspiration. These works feature banana flowers and heliconias, native to the region.

How to achieve a gallery hang THE ART OF
STEP 1
HANGING ART
FIND A COMMON THREAD
Each work in your collector says something about your personality so express this by hanging them together. This is a great way to create essentially a larger artwork by clustering various sized works together. This can be applied to smaller works in a smaller space also. 6
It may be the subject matter, colour or the type of framing that aesthetically brings the gallery hang together. Choose a hero or the largest artworks and work around them. Here we’ve linked this gallery wall together by the colour palette and a grid formation.
STEP 2
STEP 3
PLAN IT OUT
START HANGING
By laying the artworks on the floor or by scaling them proportionately on a computer you can move them around until you’re happy. Consider the balance and composition. Are you going with a grid formation? Can you make some artworks line up to create symmetry?
As they say “measure twice and hammer once”. Take your time to get it right and if something isn’t working, spend the time to move it, rather than it frustrate you later. A bit of putty filler and a spot of paint isn’t going to be the end of the world. 7
