Plant Dyes and simple shibori techniques By Mae Eastman
The beauty of using plants to dye cloth is undeniable - the natural, earthy colours work well with most colour palettes, and in most cases the plant matter you are working with is nontoxic. In this project, Mae includes “trapped objects that will leave a print, and some simple folding techniques.

Darker Shades of Royal By Denise N. Rall PhD
Denise learned to sew at a young age. Both of her grandmothers were seamstresses. Her mother’s mother sewed shirts for gentlemen on a Singer treadle machine during the Great Depression in America in the 1930s, so it is not that surprising to learn that she was recently part of a Textile Sculpture Exhibition, Darker Shades of Royal, at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery in Ballina.
