May 25, 2012 Yough Country Symposium Yough Park Cost: Friday - $20 per person and includes a light breakfast and lunch* $15 per person for the evening concert 8:30 a.m. – Registration & Coffee 9:00 a.m. -- Introduction by Mayor of Connellsville (invited) 9:15 – 10:00 a.m. Keynote Speaker: Ron Virag, Executive Director, Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. - Panel discussion about the Trails (developing them) – Linda Boxx, Rob Ferguson, Donna Holdorf, Peggy Pings (National Park Service), someone from Indian Head Trail, Ted Kovall, Emma Strong, Robin Bubarth – branch trails and feeder trails; talk about attractions along their trail. Panel dis-cussion on tourist destination that you get to on the trails – Connellsville as a hub of the trails 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 Noon – Project Updates by Various Groups and Individuals 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. – Dedication of Public Art 12:30 Noon – 1:30 p.m. – Lunch 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. - Sketches and plans (EPD) 2:15 – 3:00 p.m. Hospitality – Jim Kelly; Discussion followed about hospitality training with Regina Hughes. 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. - Fayette County Cultural Trust – Community Foundation of Fayette County Tour of Town with Refreshments at Artworks Dinner on your own 7 p.m. – Friends of the Arts invites symposium attendees and the general public to a musical concert at the Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 417 South Pittsburgh Street in Connellsville. The fea-tured performer will be Mr. Levi Graft. Other performances will also take place. A reception will follow.


2012 Yough Country Symposium Weekend May 26, 2012 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Geranium Festival Downtown Connellsville Enjoy a variety of activities, vendors, local cuisine and entertainment. Annually, the festival draws hundreds to the business district to purchase their flowers for spring planting or just enjoy the lively activities.

May 27, 2012 1:00 - 4 p.m. Golden Reunion East Park Cost: - $25 per person includes lunch, entertainment and shuttle transportation for city lot. Graduates from Connellsville High School, Dunbar High School, Immaculate Conception and Geibel High School of the 1940s, 50s and 60s will come together to reminisce. Shuttle service from city parking lots along Fairview Avenue to East Park will be provided. At 4 p.m. a dedication ceremony will take place for the recently completed stone restoration work. East Park Committee Chairman Larry Buttermore will pay tribute to those that contributed financially to the project, those that completed the work and the Connellsville Garden Club that will care for the flower gardens at the site.

May 28, 2012 9:45 a.m. Memorial Day Parade The Connellsville Veterans Commission presents the annual Memorial Day Parade. (Route: West Crawford Avenue to the War Memorial at the intersection of North Pittsburgh Street and Route 119.) A program will be held at the War Memorial at the conclusion of the parade. *Those that register for the Friday and Sunday events prior to May 11 will be charged $50 for all activities.
